Quincy Morgan... (1 Viewer)

... will score as many fantasy points as Harry Morgan, a morgan horse named Stanley, and Morganna the kissing bandit. Combined.

I'd really like to see him back there returning kicks. Williamson needs to be on offense only (looks like he will get open, just catch the ball). I don't know why they didn't have Mewelde returning kicks as well as punts.

Mewelde is a much better punt returner than kick returner if you ask me.

Why doesn't it follow that a guy that's good at one is good at the other?
I agree to an extent that punt returns fit Moore better because there is a little more open field to work with, where a kickoff return is more speed up the middle, one cut and go. But still, Moore is too good not to have on the field (at least until he gets a hangnail).

Funny when I saw this thread I remembered how he had this amazing Week 1 game a few years back (for CLE I think) and people were picking him up and hyping him all over the place.

Sound familiar

nah, you're thinking of Frisman Jackson.

Morgan wants to signBY DON SEEHOLZERPioneer PressThe Vikings haven't signed wide receiver/kick returner Quincy Morgan yet, but his agent would like to think it's just a matter of time."We're hoping," agent Brian Overstreet said Tuesday. "He's not in a position where he can wait on Minnesota, but I can tell you he liked the coaches there and he liked the system."Overstreet said he has had feelers from New England, New Orleans, Denver and Oakland on Morgan, but that the Vikings, who worked him out last week, remain his first choice."I think it would be a good fit," Overstreet said. "I hope we can get it done."Vikings coach Brad Childress said signing Morgan remains a possibility but indicated he was happy with his rotation of Troy Williamson, Travis Taylor, Marcus Robinson and Billy McMullen. In addition to some big catches, Childress said Williamson did a good job on kickoff returns in Monday night's season-opening, 19-16 victory at Washington. Many teams would consider that unnecessarily hazardous duty for a starting wide receiver, but Childress said he doesn't see it that way."Guys have skills and abilities, and you have to utilize them," he said. "We could spot him in and out from time to time, but he's got some explosive components, and I think you've got to get down the football field."Williamson averaged 24.5 yards on four kickoff returns, with a long of 44 yards.

Punt returning seems to rely more on vision and making a guy miss, more on elusiveness. Great kick returning looks to rely more on flat speed and more blockers, i.e. the wedge. Guys like Steve Smith and Dante Hall are great at both. Mewelde isn't a burner, but he's good in tight spaces. He will not outrun angles.

Denver is also under consideration for Q.

Denver Post

Uninspired by their early returns, the Broncos are pursuing a former specialist of the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

Quincy Morgan, who finished eighth in the NFL last season by averaging 25.3 yards on kickoff returns for Pittsburgh, has drawn strong interest from the Broncos and Minnesota Vikings.

"We're probably going to Denver," said Brian Overstreet, Morgan's agent.

A visit is expected first, and if there is a deal, it's not expected to be finalized until early next week.

In their season-opening, 18-10 loss at St. Louis last week, the Broncos used rookie running back Mike Bell on their first two kickoff returns, then replaced him with backup wide receiver David Kircus. They combined for four returns and a 19.5-yard average, which ranked 24th in Week 1.

Morgan, who turns 29 on Sept. 23, also is a backup receiver who had 56 catches and seven touchdowns for Cleveland in 2002 but was used primarily as a kick returner for the Steelers last season until he suffered a fractured fibula in their AFC wild-card playoff victory against Cincinnati.

Although Morgan appeared fully recovered from the injury during training camp, he was among the Steelers' final roster cuts two weeks ago.

The agent for free-agent receiver Quincy Morgan said his client is nearing an agreement with the Denver Broncos.

Morgan, whom the Vikings worked out last week, is an attractive option for several teams because of his NFL experience as a receiver and kickoff returner.

Agent Brian Overstreet said he had hoped Morgan would sign with the Vikings. But Overstreet added that the Broncos might sign his client in the near future.

Jensen also writes that the Vikes are super excited about Mann, so maybe he will be our returner?

why would an agent hope his client signs with one team vs another? Wouldn't an agent want his client to sign with the high dollar team first and foremost?

He wouldn't care, but if both teams are on the fence and he comes out and says they are really close to signing a contract, it might push the other team to offer up a higher amount than they originally would to get him. This way he gets paid (possibly) more and signed quicker, rather than both teams fumbling around and not hearing about any other interest in him.I also heard the Vikes wanted to wait until after the date when contracts are guaranteed for this year, much like they did with Koren last year.
