Quinn (1 Viewer)

He was mostly managing the game but I think he is capable of much more with more time with the offense. Where do you think he ranks going forward?

Rather than starting another thread, maybe we can also discuss what he is worth, too?

I'd rank him 15-20. 15 if this game was not based off of playing Denver, who doesn't play D well at all. 20 thinking he struggles a bit like most rookies. I might rank him even a bit lower, but I do like him as a future QB.

He's not going to throw for 2 TDs every week, and he's not going to throw for 0 INTs every week. I think tonight's game is on the high end of expectations. Buffalo, Indy, Tennessee, and Philly are all top-10 fantasy defenses against quarterbacks. The only games where I would consider starting Quinn are Houston (#24 fantasy D) and Cincinnati (#20).

In other words: TRADE HIM FOR WHATEVER YOU CAN GET.

Without my homerism, I'm thinking 10-15, and here's why.

11 Nov 17 CLE @ BUF

12 Nov 23 HOU @ CLE

13 Nov 30 IND @ CLE

14 Dec 07 CLE @ TEN

15 Dec 15 CLE @ PHI

16 Dec 21 CIN @ CLE

This is a pretty tough schedule. Based on the performance of the Browns' defense last night and the quality of the offenses of the opponents with the exception of maybe Cincy, Quinn should be racking mega yards and TDs in garbage time as the Browns play out the string and spend a good portion of second halves catching up. With a competitive Browns team: Quinn is 15-20. With a team that mails it in the rest of the way: 10-15 due to garbage time.

SELL HIGH NOW!!!!!
I wish. No one in my league likes to trade.Anyway, I dont have a lot of choice on the waiver wire and after losing Schaub I grabbed Rosenfel and Quinn. There is Bulger, Orton, Hasselbeck , Ferrotte, and Flacco or I could stay with what I have. I figure Quinn is as good as any of those choices.

He looked good. He scanned the field very well. He checked off a lot as the WR's were covered and ended up hitting his safety net which was Winslow. I was at the game last night. He was very mobile... looked quick and reacted very well when DLineman were converging. Had a couple roll-outs where he hit Stallworth in stride. He placed the ball in a position where they player could actually continue progress.

He did force a few throws. Had a couple low passes to Winslow where he was able to go down and catch them. He over threw Braylon once as it was just off his finger tips, and he also forced a bad pass on a quick hitter near the endzone. It seemed like he had a lot of adrenaline and maybe over compensated a bit -- example when he threw behind Heiden in the end zone.

There were a couple drives that stalled which I believe were due to bad play calling. Jamal Lewis looked awful that game. He was so slow, and I was confused as to why he even received 2nd half touches. I remember a key run he had where he strung it outside and got gobbled up. I was sitting in the endzone and could see a huge hole up the gut he missed. Not sure what he was thinking. Harrison looked electric, and was juking defenders.

Quinn will be good. Next game I see them opening the offense a bit. I can see the brownies creating some new plays to get the mobile Quinn some different looks. I think he only gets better from here, and I'm riding his fantasy QB status all the way till season end

EVERYONE looks good vs DEN

Guy has upside, just not this year.

@BUF

HOU

IND

@TEN

@PHI

CIN

I see one easy game on this schedule.

Trade him if you can..............trade him now.

Maybe he looked good from the field, but I saw several examples on TV where he locked into a receiver right away. And there were a few balls that were thrown in the dirt. Winslow made two amazing grabs off the turf, including one fingertip catch where the ball was literally scraping the grass. No way any other receiver on the Browns makes that catch.

It might not have been in the game plan to go down field. he did try to get it to Edwards a couple of times but he dropped the passes or was double teamed. Also they ran the ball more than they will be able to against more formidable defenses. I am by no means looking to start him next week but i might like to stash him for at least a couple more games just to see how he progresses.

He looked much more mature than a QB who was playing his first ever NFL game.

Thirty-five attempts is managing the game?

I took that bolded portion to mean that he was playing a bit conservatively - not forcing a big play, checking down, moving and throwing the ball away rather than making a high risk high reward throw.

Thankyou and thats exactly what I meant. He didnt try to go deep much although I am sure he has done that many times at Notre Dame. They will ease up on him as he gets experience.

Ah, I agree, he went to his checkdown a bit fast, and didn't throw much of a long ball. I took the term a bit differently than you intended. He still looked like he was trying to make a play, but to do it without too much risk. Smart plays, but more than a game manager type. Not bad for a first start.

Until he plays a NFL Defense, I'd say he's 30th.

To put it in perspective, the Denver pass defense is actually worse than Cleveland's D.

I thought the fact that a DROPPED PASS cost Cleveland the game was GREAT! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If I was DA, I would have been standing as close to Crennel as I could get, laughing my freaking face off!

That was against one of the worst defenses in the league. Although he may get better with time, it won't get any easier for him this year.

I agree to an extent. But the more he plays the more familiar he will get with the offense and build a good rapport with his receivers. He might not become a viable fantasy QB this year but with a new coach and a better system, he might be a good sleeper for next year.

To me he is the starting QB rest of season (the future too) as for this season he only has two easy teams to pass on....not worth a pick off ww.

Until he plays a NFL Defense, I'd say he's 30th.
I will go out on a limb and say he is better than:JT O'Sullivan/S. Hill

Seneca Wallace (not Hass)

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Griese (not Garcia at this juncture)

Brad Johnson (obv. not Romo)

Dan Orlovsky

Thigpen

Vince Young (not athlete - or even winner - but pure passer)

Might be better than:

Sage

Orton

Matt Cassel

Kerry Collins

Trent Edwards

Gus Frerotte

Derek Anderson

Not sure if I am forgetting anyone - feel free to rip apart, add, subtract. Just throwing some thoughts out there on this kid.

Just to add, Quinn has just about everything you look for in a FF QB. He's intelligent & a hard worker (by most accounts), good arm, mobile, protected by an outstanding OL, decent running game, very good weapons at his disposal, & last but not least...a sorry D. ;)

What else do you want?

I don't own him so maybe I'm bias, but then again, I don't own him for a reason. It's week 11, he just went up against one of the leagues worst defenses. To expect more from him in the next 5 to 6 weeks doesn't seem realistic. Players can improve when they're young but only so much given the small time period we're talking about.
