RA Dickey Needs a Thread (1 Viewer)

Good god, I'm a Yankee fan, but I'm watching more of his starts because he's g-damn amazing. A wonderful testament to being tenacious and persevering despite many challenges in life, be they personal or on the field. For those that don't know, he wrote a book recently detailing some background on being sexually abused and he was also a former power pitcher who reinvented himself as a knuckleballer. He seems like a thoughtful spritual guy.

But that's backstory to a thread.

He just wrapped up his second consecutive 1 hitter, tonight with 13 Ks.

11-1

103 Ks, 21 walks in 99 innings( I think doing rough math in my head)

Whip under 1.00

Here's to you RA, I don't know how long this can go, but he's the biggest fantasy free agent impact I've seen this side of Kurt Warner if your league rewards shutouts and the like.

I hope he gets the All Star start.

First SP to throw back to back complete game 1 hitters since Dave Stieb in 1988.

No doubt he should be starting the All Star game - going to be interesting to see who catches him? Most likely someone with no experience catching a knuckleballer.

I'd still bet on the NL winning, he'll screw up the whole AL lineup's bats.

Is he mixing in a low 90's heater or a soft curve? What's he doing out there anyway? I haven't seen him yet but I always thought if there was a guy who had a second out pitch besides a knuckle he would be deadly. Is this that guy?

Great guy. Remember him here in Tex. came up in his late 20s and ate innings when the team was awful. He was awful too. Never had any hype/ hope. Amazing turnaround.

A friend of mine coached him at Tennessee...RA called him about 6 years ago about going into business together because he was giving up baseball.

I think he's made $8M since.

He's a great guy...his success hasn't changed him at all...just a laid-back country boy from Nashville.
