Rage of the Gargoyles - VR Roller Coaster (1 Viewer)

Dope

Footballguy
I've seen a billboard the last few days touting a Roller Coaster with Samsung Gear VR headsets called Rage of the Gargoyles.

Supposedly it's hit a few Six Flags across the country...has anyone tried it? Is there ANY WAY this cannot be awesome?

Rage of the Gargoyles

Pixelated graphics defeated the purpose of VR, which is an immersive experience.  Also a 2 minute bumpy ride isn't ideal.

A VR ride needs to implement higher quality tech than GearVR and be designed from the ground up with VR in mind, not simply slapped onto an old rollercoaster.  This kind of thing on a ride like Soarin' Over California would be incredible.

I thought that too, that a Gear VR couldn't do the job, but was hoping I wasn't being a cynic. Not calling you one, of course.

Did you try it out the ride already?

To be fair, I haven't even strapped on a VR headset, not Oculus, not Gear VR. I was just curious...especially with the new Samsung Gear VR commercial I saw yesterday a few times.

Oh no, that's completely appropriate.

Haven't tried it out yet, but here's a video if you don't mind spoilers.

I know OF you, but don't really KNOW you.

It looks ummmm not bad. Not earth shattering though. It does look like they needed to dial back the graphics a bunch because of headset hardware limitations, but the concept is pretty awesome.

Kinda like seeing Doom back in the day and knowing that the first person shooters that the kids have today (lol...get off my lawn) would be much more realistic.
