Raiders rumored to take Calvin Johnson (1 Viewer)

apparently the word coming out of Oakland is that Al wants to take Calvin with the first pick and that any time Russell's name comes up he says "we have the first pick, why wouldn't we take the best player with it?"

they are also saying that this is some how causing Peterson's stock to fall and that some mocks have him droping all the way to Minnesota...

man if Peterson falls all the way to Houston and they decide to pass on him can you imagine how the fans will react....after passing on Bush and Young last year

Well, if people in Dallas are commenting on Oakland's draft pick a couple weeks before the draft, it must be true. :construction:

I pray they take Calvin Johnson. As a Randy Moss / Jerry Porter owner - I would love to see them ship both guys out of town.

Raiders should have made a deal for Schaub, picked CJ, traded Moss, and spend the rest of what ever they have in money and picks on offensive linemen.

On the plus side, if they take Russel and combine that with the great schedule they have - they should be in line for the #1 pick again next year.

Aw, man....where were you two months ago? Raiders could've used this advice then. It's such a sound plan, and I've never heard this theory advanced before. Brillant!

I heard this from the Goose, he also said once they draft Calvin that Moss will be had for cheap.

The Goose is well connected and don't just throw out junk, but we shall see.

Goose:

The NFLPA is in support of Goodell's ruling so the union will likely sign off on this. I don't think it solves the problem as what he should do is fine the team a substantial amount of money. This will stop teams from drafting these types of players. If theses teams were slapped with a million dollar fine, they would draft differently. There is no stipulation to have Jones come back this year. Jones is the example. The first guy up had to go down for a year; and he did/will.

If the Titans are going to get rid of Jones, then they will probably go after the money he signed for as he didn't fulfill his contract. I don't think they want to sever ties with him at this point though.I think there is a good chance he will go after Tank Johnson next, and he has to come down hard on him.

Goodell has made it his goal to clean this league up. Tag's goal was to get a franchise in LA, Goodell's is to clean it up. He realizes you can't get expansion teams and money if the league has a bad rep.

I've heard the rumor that the Raiduhs will trade for Josh McCown and draft Calvin Johnson. Johnson is the best player in the draft. Johnson automatically makes any QB better. Also if you draft Johnson you are no longer held hostage by Moss and Porter. If they draft Johnson, then Moss can be had within an hour of that pick for a decent price.

If the Raiduhs take Russell. then the Lions will likely trade out as they don't want to take another high profile WR. The problem is that he is a good character guy and one of the best talents to come into this league in ten years. Millen has spent his career drafting WR and when the right

Quinn depends on what Cleveland does. If they feel Frye is not their guy they could take him there.

Dallas can get a good WR in any round of this draft.

Several good OL will be there in rounds 2-5. Dallas can wait there although that player won't be ready this year.

This is a solid CB board though not that fast. You can get good CB's into the fifth round of this draft.

You have to get a LB on day one because there is a steep drop-off after that.

This is the worst RB draft I have seen in years and the absolute worst TE draft.

There are two first round RB's this year in Peterson and Lynch. Lynch does have a battery charge in his past, but it likely won't affect him. He won't be there after pick 15.
