Raising Cane's Opening in _ Days (1 Viewer)

This morning I drove by a new Raising Cane's chicken finger restaurant that has not opened yet. There was a sign out front that reads "Opening in _ Days". And today the number is 1. So presumably it opens either today or tomorrow.

In the parking lot were several people waiting in line with folding chairs and tents, (TENTS!!!). These people are camping out waiting for chicken fingers.

WTF?!? People do this?

:lmao: Good lord.

I thought it was bad when people here started lining up at 5AM when the Red ####ing Lobster opened up.

Sonic opened up here and there were people who slept in their cars the night before. Sonic.

Never heard of this place. Had to look it up.

People are camping out to get the same food they serve twice a month at my middle school cafeteria?

JFC That's amazing.

Doesn't surprise me. The news had a story a couple days ago about a guy murdering another guy because he took the last piece of chicken.

Chicken is serious business.

It is possible they're giving something away? They opened the first real Chick-Fil-A in DC yesterday morning. People started lining up Tuesday morning and everyone was baffled but it turned out that the first 100 people in line got a card for free food for a year. Apparently it's a regular thing.

People were lined up for the White Castle to open in Las Vegas. People will line up for just about anything.

Apparently so. I've never eaten there, so I cannot speak to how good it might be. But who the #### does this? Unemployed stoners and fatties?
As far as chicken strips go, they're quite tasty. I wouldn't camp out for The French Laundry, so I can't speak to that goofiness.

Raising Cane's makes some delicious chicken tenders. I'm not sure if they give away free chicken vouchers at their grand opening like Chick-fil-A, but, if they did, I would consider lining up for it.

Krispy Kreme opened in a local suburb here a while back and they had cars around the corner at 6 in the morning. This is a town that has plenty of beignet and donut options too.

I drove almost an hour out of my way coming home from Houston to Denver once to get some Raising Cane's. Can't say that my wife agreed but I thought it was well worth it.

Hah. I've done the same thing before on a road trip from Denver to Salt Lake City. My buddies who had never experienced Raising Cane's were really questioning my judgment until those succulent, perfectly fried chicken tenders entered their mouths. Since that road trip, one of my buddies drove three hours round trip to go up to Ft. Collins for the sole purpose of getting more tenders from Raising Cane's.

You would be amazed what people are willing to do for something free. I wonder if the first 50 or whatever get a free chicken strip.

My little brother lives in Ft Collins so I make it a goal to get to Cane's every time I'm up there. I was a freshman at CSU when it opened and the Hi-C or Hawaiian Punch (don't remember which) they have always called my name on hungover weekends.

A couple of days ago, the new Krispy Kreme opened in Houston. People were waiting in line for over THREE HOURS for those crappy doughnuts. WTF?

They're back? I thought the Shipley's Do-Nut mafia already rode them out of town?

JFC people are stupid. Chicken ####### fingers. Sad life I guess when you highlight is to be able to tell others, "Yeah I had the first chicken finger from that 'der Charlies!"

We had a Krispy Kreme here about 10 years ago. People went ape #### at first. It closed after about year.

They opened a new one just a few months ago. People went ape #### again. Just odd.

The first one opened on Westheimer. Another one is due in a few days. Bet they fail again. The doughnut equivalent of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.

I would routinely wait in line for at least an hour after the bars closed in college to get Canes. It's really good.

If you're saying it's "just chicken fingers" then I'm curious what foods are allowable to get excited about?

I've always had a fear of shaking hands with a chicken because their fingers are as big as their legs. That's just too weird. Makes me shiver just thinking about it.

JFC people are stupid. Chicken ####### fingers. Sad life I guess when you highlight is to be able to tell others, "Yeah I had the first chicken finger from that 'der Charlies!"
yea #### chicken fingers and people who get excited about things! people are so STUPID.

Canes is no joke, I'll put it up against any other chicken tender place.
So their competition is?
Zaxby's maybe? I'm not really southern.

I understand the skepticism. I was in law school when one opened in Charlottesville. One of my classmates had done undergrad at LSU and insisted that we had to go there. And I reacted the way everyone else did. "Chicken fingers? You can't be serious."

But it was pretty great. The fingers are moist and flavorful. The sauce is good. The texas toast works with it. And they do great southern-style sweet tea where the 4 lbs of sugar cuts really, really astringent tea. You need both for a great sweet tea. Obviously, its terrible for you.

Never heard of this place but see there are three of them in the Phoenix area. Went to the website and it looks pretty good so might have to take a drive at lunchtime at work sometime to check it out.

Living in the Baton Rouge area working walking distance to the first Cane's on LSU campus, I have had Cane's a time or two. The story is that the owner Todd Graves got the lowest grade in his bussiness class because the professor thought a chain that only serves chicken tenders would never work. Come to find out it was brilliant to devote his time to just focus on one food item.

They opened a Whataburger here about a year ago and police had to direct traffic FOR A WEEK!!! Insanity. Fast food is serious business.

Cane's does make some pretty damn good chicken fingers, and the owner of the company seems like a genuinely good guy, but yeah, not going to camp out for chicken fingers.

From the Googles:

The first 100 paying customers will receive limited edition Cane's gear, a free box combo and be entered to win free Cane's for a year.
Totally worth camping out for. Limited Edition!!!!

I get the fact that the chicken tenders taste pretty ####### good. What I don't understand is the desire to camp out in the parking lot for who knows how long for chicken and schwag. That is insanity.

And Shipley's >>>>>>>>>> Krispy Kreme
