RAMS and CHARGERS coming to Inglewood ! (1 Viewer)

I think the Chargers have the option to move. Whether they move probably depends on what they can work out with Kroenke and his stadium.

So if hypothetically the Chargers/Kroenke can not work out a deal, would the Raiders then get the option?

This is all still speculation, nothing has been finalized. Not sure who Jason Cole is but like so many others, he just wanted to make sure he was first, not accurate.

Correct.

San Diego with an option which can be exercised in 2016, 17, or 18.

Spanos is in a difficult position, here. Not sure he wants to be a business partner with Kroenke.

I'm happy the Raiders are sticking in Oakland.
agree. The Raiders belong in Oakland. The name, the colors, the black hole... It would be ludicrous to change that brand.I feel bad for the fans in both cities. Fortunately San Diego is such a great city that it won't be as tough to swallow. And St.Louis has the great baseball tradition to keep them occupied.

Some hope for San Diego?

Great point by @DailyNewsVinny: #Chargers could use right to relocate as leverage to get a deal San Diego. A stretch, but plausible.
No one in San Diego, or anywhere really, should find another opportunity for spineless local politicians to be fleeced as hope.

As someone who has not followed this too close and is ignorant to much of the specifics.

Why is it a good idea to give LA 2 teams when they haven't been able to keep 1 consistently?

Spanos overplayed his hand and now his only path to LA is through Kroenke. I can't imagine that's going to be fun.

REPORT: Chargers get approval to join Rams in L.A.

The San Diego Chargers have been given permission, along with the St. Louis Rams, to move to Los Angeles. However, the Chargers' approval may hold some restrictions.

The #Rams back to L.A. is done. Wherhe the #Chargers join them now or later only question

So, it's done....right? Finally?

Not a chance.

It's over for the Rams, and it's over for St. Louis. Hell, it might even be over for the Oakland Raiders, but they'll likely get some sort of payout for being the odd team out.

For the Chargers, it sounds as though they'll be asked to come back and work on a deal with the city of San Diego. They'll try to get a stadium deal done (and they have reportedly already decided on Cory Briggs' citizens initiative and a downtown NFL stadium) in San Diego, with their fallback option being that they could join Stan Kroenke and the Rams in Inglewood.

This eliminates the issue of finding more than one temporary venue, and it gives San Diego the time to get a deal/vote done without the Chargers losing negotiating leverage.

Stay tuned for more as it comes in.

This is probably a best-case scenario, although it means at least another year of harsh public negotiations between Mark Fabiani and Mayor Kevin Faulconer. Before you scream, remember that it also probably means Philip Rivers is a "San Diego Charger" next year and probably for the remainder of his contract.

LA lost the teams due to an unwillingness to put up public funds for two new stadiums. The Rams (and Chargers, possibly) own the land and will own the stadium. They can make renovations as they wish (with environmental approval). As long as Kroenke is owner of the Rams, there shouldn't be a problem.

Problems could arise if he sells the Rams, but refuses to sell the stadium/land.

What about Toledo? Talk about a hole...

Inglewood. Inglewood always up to no good.

1. A city just west of Los Angeles that has at least one liquor store per every four blocks; one porno book store per every 8 blocks; and a Asian Massage Parlour every mile. (Actually, there is a place on Manchester Blvd in Inglewood that as all three of those AND a gunrange in the same BLOCK!)

I live in Vegas, so that is small change. :-)

Inglewood isn't a great area to be sure, but it is insanely close to the airport for great travel options for those coming into town for the game. Get in, watch the game, get out.....

.... and the problem iszzzzzzzzzz ??

So Oakland and San Diego get 100 million to stay home...

I can't fathom for a moment the NFL would want to be out of the San Diego market... its the best super bowl site

New Orleans is the best Super Bowl site. L.A. is now the second best.
Its awesome, but San Diego is a cut above, no bad weather days there. LA is meh, UNLESS its the Rose Bowl, then I'm all for it, which I believe this team being in the metro region opens the door for Rose Bowl games again. They can sell north of100,000 tix there too.

Chargers have option until Jan 2017 to decide to move or not. If they pass on it the option goes to Oakland. Speculation is that they will wait until after a stadium vote in June 2016. Personally I hope it fails and they move to LA where they will be the 11th most important sports franchise in the market. Or maybe they will take the nice stadium deal offered in St. Louis? Good F&&king Luck to the ungrateful management whose civic involvement was minimal and whose management skills were negligible.

BTW, since the only thing that really matters any more is fantasy games, I will be happy to see the Chargers leave so we get more important games on TV every week. Sorry to say, but any interest I had in the Bolts has been gone since I have watched wasted draft after wasted draft and money p**sed down the rathole on worthless free agent signings (Woodhead being the one exception).

I can't imagine the Chargers going anywhere.

Maybe, but I don't see any "new" city actually welcoming Philip Rivers as their QB.

The Fat Burger in Inglewood is awesome.

If Chargers move they should call themselves the LASD Chargers or So Cal Chargers.

Rams can be the Inglewood Rams.

I think Deano goes back to the negotiating table with San Diego, with the extra 100MIL in new stadium financing.

They may iron this thing out yet. I don't think he wants to be a tenant in Kroenke's castle.

I'm an appraiser and see Inglewood as the next L.A. neighborhood to be gentrified. Westchester is just to the west and I'm seeing house prices skyrocket. Neighborhoods like Culver City, Mar Vista, and Westchester have all come up in the past decade and I expect west Inglewood (the side west of where the stadium will be) to see similar changes once the stadium is built.

We'll see what San Antonio has to say about this pretty soon, I think. Just check out St Louis...they were still willing to double down on their original mistake and give the Rams even more public money. San Antonio will be the next "LA" IMO to be used as leverage to get money from idiot public servants.

As an LA resident, the Rams to Inglewood is as good as I could have hoped. To me, Carson was doomed to fail from the beginning. Sure, I could be completely wrong and the people of Southern California might have supported a team in that area, but Carson is hardly Los Angeles. I can't think of a single person I know that would have made the trip to Carson more than once to see a team that is LA in name only. Having a team in Inglewood is fantastic. That is LA as far as I'm concerned.

My comments have less to do with the league's move, and everything to do with my extreme hatred of professional sports teams setting up shop 40 miles from the metro area in the middle of nowhere and calling themselves that city's team.

With all due respect, it doesn't seem you have a clue where Carson is. 40 miles from the metro area? Which one?

The project wasn't as good, but the site would have been fine.

So it's 27 miles from my house. I stand corrected, but if you live here then you know that's plenty far given traffic. And if you've been to Carson, then you can't tell me that it is somehow representative of LA in any way.

Yes, I do live here. I've been to Carson. It's like 15 minutes from Inglewood. It borders L.A. What is representative of LA? People in San Pedro don't feel represented on the west side. People in the Valley tried to secede from the City. You think Downtown is like the west side or the South Bay or like the valley? East LA? Is Hollywood at all like the South Bay?

Honestly, how long have you lived here? If awhile, have you actually ventured outside your bubble? Get out, dude, we have a lot of different neighborhoods/cities that are awesome and have different things to offer.

You are mistaken. West of LA is the Pacific Ocean. See, to everyone who doesn't live in California, that entire wad of pavement is "LA." The locals only break it down into smaller chunks for ease of giving street directions.

It's where people sell pornhub made out of trees.
