Killed it. Rather, killed the swim and the run & survived the bike. Ended up 6th out of 25 or so in my AG, 6th on the swim

, 15th on the bike :X & 5th on the run

Water temp was 77 (one degree from no wetsuits). I packed the shorty and am glad I did. Stroms were rolling through just north of the lake and it was churning quite a bit. I hung back a bit and let the big boys and those that thought they were beat the heck out of each other and then found a nice lane around the entire course. I only broke from free style a few time to remove seaweed from my head, neck & shoulders.

I did get about a 50 yard draft, but to be honest I was too quick to stay behind anyone. I even dolphin swam twice and then had tons in the tank to sprint to T1 (which went a little slow, but no real issues). Then came the 15 mile bike. Like a dope, I had the bike in one of my biggest gears and didn't change it. The ride started out with 1.2 miles of climbing. There were five or six really tough climbs and the downhills never seemed long enough. The CPU said I averaged 15.2 MPH, but it sure felt slower. Possibly the 39 MPH max speed on one of the long downhills helped (and helped me to pee myself a bit I think, it was scary fast). Crushed T2 in 48 seconds with a shoe change. This was definitely bike heavy field and I knew it from getting passed on the bike by guys in my AG. I was telling myself on the bike, get me to the run so I get get some of the ####### back. And I did, the run was equally as hilly as the bike and inculded 1 mile+ of dirt & wet grass. I mowed down a bunch of guys in my group in the first mile, which I did in 7:32. Hills/dirt made me back it down a bit, but I still did the 4 miles in 32:30ish. If anyone recalls (or cares I suppose), the only one of my friends that beat me 2 weekends ago is a 20 year tri vet and former college swimmer who ended up 3rd in his AG in that race. Well, I got him at mile 2 on the run and added 2 minutes of space. He is a GREAT guy so there was no smack talk at all, but it felt damn good to beat a guy a know is darn good at these. I couldn't be happier (well, I could have won the Giant G2 tri-bike they raffled off at the end) with how I did. Got another in two weeks on a FLAT run and ride course, CAN'T WAIT!!!!Oh & PSL, add more beers to my tab. I did the Rolaids thing again and while I felt I was heading towards cramps a bunch of time (sun came out & it was 80 for the run), I never did cramp or stop to stretch. Off to nap so I can at least function a little for or City's fireworks tonight & a pre-party before.
