3mi in 23:55 last night on the track I mentioned a couple weeks ago. I'm almost through the ChiRunning book, so I decided to try some of the techniques (well, what I could remember). That lasted for about a lap. lol I think I had the lean, the elbows pumping back, the legs reaching back and not landing in front of me, but I seemed to have burned up a lot of energy in the process. My pace flew into the 7
x range (~7:30??). I had to walk for 50m after that lap, and then the remaining laps in my usual form were labored. I'm not sure if I was doing it right and burned up the energy because I was using different muscles, or what.
It certainly opened up my stride, and I'll have to remember that form for a finishing sprint sometime.

Saw my PT today (again- former IM tri-clubmate and TNT marathon coach) and gave him the whole shpiel I gave you above. He was in the more optimistic camp of going for either the 3:40 or 3:50 groups and adjusting them as needed after the first 1/2 (there's a short steep bridge at about mile 13). I'm going to see how everything feels over the next week and then play it by ear. Although I'm sure I'll be doing plenty of
in my head and in this thead over this during the next week and a half.
Last results are out from yesterday, and this time it included my UW (Under Water) Mile when we ran under the Detroit River through the tunnel. I posted a 7:58, which was between miles 8 & 9.
Giddy'up!! Goal #1 is in your sights!!!
Furley told me earlier this week that he's "95% sure" that he's coming down to Appleton to join me for the 5K tomorrow. I propose that all of you apply some not-so-gentle peer pressure to bring him the rest of the way! Heck, Furley, if tri-man can drive from Chicago to DePere, surely you can drive from Green Bay to Appleton, no?! (Edit to say that Furley's bum foot is still giving him trouble, so I guess I'll understand if he decides not to come.)
On to running, sort of, I walked 2 miles yesterday and felt very good after. No time to run tonight, so tomorrow will be the first run post race and will be a 5Kish run. If I feel good on the weekend, we'll see what Sat or Sun brings.
