I know some of you guys have kids that run and I wanted to drop in and brag on mine for a second.

Have a 9 yo boy thats been running laps around the neighborhood the past few months.  I've always tried to explain to him how far a mile is and all that, but he's never acted like he cares.  Plus he never wants to go with me.   I've always thought he doesn't run much, but rather just dicked around in the neighborhood for 15 minutes or so.

Anyways, we got all the kids those fitbits with the GPS yesterday.  Little man announces he's going to run 2 miles at breakfast.  I thought to myself he might go 2 miles, but he can't run the whole thing, no way.

Dude comes back a few minutes later and said he's done.  I look at is watch and he went 2.02 miles at an 8:17 pace!  Not sure how that stacks up with other 9 yo's but I was blown away.  He didn't even break a sweat and said he stopped just because he hit his 2 miles.  I'm hoping he's finally found a sport he can excel at.

Hope everyone here is doing good these days.  Working from home has really cut into my screwing off on the internet time.  I don't check in nearly as much as I used too.

It’s just two days
I couldn't tell you the last time I went more than one night with less than 7 hours of sleep.

Last 2 weeks --> 8h40min, 7hr54min, 8hr31min, 7hr52min, 8hr47min, 7h15min, 8hr18min, 7hr49min, 8hr14min, 8h59min, 9hr7min, 8h50min, 8h19min, 8h23min.

Exercise, diet, manage stress, sleep --> good health, physically and mentally.

Reached ‘waiting for UPS guy’ stage of quarantine.
Zoom chat with the boys touched on the Carbon plate New Balance kicks.  I’m holding out for Saucony super shoooz in July but the NB site sale got me these on another 25% off and more shorts with center back zipper pocket for phone and or dozen gels or poo bags.
The Saucony Endorphin pros were originally supposed to be released today. Just saw their update that it’s pushed back to July 1st.

Awesome story, keep fostering and exposing.

My oldest got into x-country and track.  He is not the fastest, but he is much faster than me.  I love watching him run.

I think they start x-country in 6th grade here, but someone said they usually only run 1.5 miles.  I told him about that and he's pumped.

Just got another 2 miles in, but the pace dropped to 8:30.  He said something about his legs being tired.  Told him to HTFU!

Actually...what about @jb1020 subbing in for Mrs. Gian? I thought about him while we were drafting because I saw he was moving again after that injury, but didn't want to impose.
I've only been super casually watching what yall have been doing.  I can step in if needed.  Been out fairly regularly the last few weeks and have felt pretty good.

Ugh.  Favorable wind and elevation route is about 1/4 mile short.  Gotta figure something out...
We're getting (more of) the snow that you got this morning starting in about an hour. It's going through the night, so I've ruled out tomorrow. And we are going to get (a lot?) more Friday. I'm not sure I will have suitable racing conditions at all Saturday, so I'm gonna have to tee up multiple options.

I figured it out although I'm going to have to cut back against the wind some.  I think most elevation loss will be in mile two.  I'll test it out tomorrow morning.

Wind speed increases from 6 mph at 6 a.m. to 14 mph by noon.  I guess I'll sleep in.

"No."

So @Juxtatarot, my quesstimate was that you'd start over at 75th and Wehrle (sp?), get that early downslope, turn left on Greene, aim for the silos, and turn right on Hopson until you reached 5 km.
I don't think there is a sidewalk or path on 75th there.  Greene usually isn't too busy but I don't think I've run that section.  The Hobson path is kind of crappy.  I've run it but I don't think I'd want to race on it.

Running down the valley to the river from the west like that is an interesting idea though.  I'll give it some thought.

I could tell you the last time I got more than 6 hours straight. But it doesn't happen often. Most nights lately I've woken up, taken the damn CPAP off my congested head (pretty sure it's allergies) and tried to go back to sleep. I'm lucky if I get a total of 6.

I want it warm enough to be in shorts and late Sat morning is looking best based on the current forecast

It looks like I will be making my attempt Friday morning at 7 AM. Plan is to get up early drive my car to the finish line, warm up jog/walk to the house. Take care of some pre-race business at the house. Jog to the starting line, race, vomit, and then drive home.  It's going to be in the 30's during my run and I don't want to be running home post race in short sleeves. Plus I don't want the central governor slowing me down during the race so that I can run home after.

I'm doing zoom poker, so probably not. I spose if we finish early (doubtful) or I get knocked out (highly probable) I'd jump in though.

As if the 4/4/48 thing wasn't enough, now the same friend planted the idea in my head to run 26.2 miles on Monday like I'm supposed to be doing in Boston.

Naturally, when the weather in Boston for Marathon Monday has been either (a) hot AF or (b) Nor'easter the past few years, the forecast for this coming Monday is calling for temps in the low 50s with only 36% chance of rain...

We Zooming tonight? Currently pregaming with a Margarita by the pool. The scotch is waiting on ice @gianmarco.
I can't tonight, so somebody else would have to host.  I'd be down for doing something this coming weekend though.  Maybe Saturday night so we can talk about everyone's 5K exploits...

Damn, pretty good winds from the west tomorrow to assist my route, but too cold for my only window to run (6:30).

Still shooting for Saturday.  Planning on cutting my hair Friday for less wind resistance.  May also wax my nether regions.

 ####### sniffles, slightly runny nose, tired, coughing and it was harder to breathe on today's easy run than it should be - but I'm fairly sure that's just the congestion.

A buddy (who I haven't seen in years) had similar issues, also thought allergies, but got tested because he was deploying to assist state side. He tested positive for COVID.

This thing messes with your head more than anything else. I've been out a little but thought I was being careful. 99% sure it's allergies. Pollen has been everywhere. But still. :oldunsure:

Hope you're OK.

My wife got sent home from work b/c of a cough.  She always has allergies this time of year and that appears to be the case here as the cough went away after a day (and shes tracked her temperature).  But she was freaking out a bit thinking she had it.  Anytime my watch reads high for my HR, I think I have it and am dying.  Definitely stresses me out.

You should have drafted better.  Rookie mistake really ...

My team is falling apart!
Not this guy. Not falling apart at all.  Just solidly adding weight on a daily basis.  Not running a whole lot aids on that front I’ve found.  I figure if I find a net downhill that added mass will move faster.  We’re good to go.
