Randle El, against the Giants... (1 Viewer)

Does anyone else have a hunch that Randle El is going to explode against this Giants defense who seem to be a sucker for the big play?

As a Cooley owner, I would love to see him stretch the field early, then allow for Cooley to catch the rest underneath or with some medium crossing routes. One-on-one with a LB without safety help would make for a nice day for Mr. Cooley. ;)

I guess it's that weekly guessing game for the 'Skins opponents - crack down on Moss and Cooley and let Randle El run past you, or roll the safeties to the wide receivers and let Portis and Cooley kill you.

I picked him up this week, but not sure that I'll ever feel comfortable starting him in anything other than dire straits. I grabbed him mostly as trade bait, hoping he has another big game soon so I can deal him. With his lack of consistent production (historically), a young QB, a team without a real offensive identity yet - it all just adds up to too much risk for my tastes.I think he could have a big game against the Giants, but he could just as easily have a 3 catch for 40 yards day. Would either one surprise you?

As between Moss, Cooley and Randle El, ARE is the third in order of preference who I'd like to have. His potential (and by this I mean ceiling) tops out at probably 4-5 catches for 120 yards and 1 TD, but he's likely less involved than that in the passing game. This is the kind of defensive secondary who Moss could go off on and have 180 yards and 3 TD's, which is why I think he's a good play this weekend. Cooley could end up with a couple of TD's and 80-100 yards if he ends up being the go-to guy.

If I had to project, I'd say ARE has 4 catches for 60 yards and no scores.

Whoever is matched up against Webster (assuming he isn't benched for incompetence), is going to have a very good game. My 91 year old grandmother could beat Webster. Anyway, I would expect Webster to get picked on a lot since he has been so bad but I am not sure who he will mainly be covering. I wouldn't be surprised if Ross starts to take over for Webster, maybe even starting this week.

Do the Giants play a defensive scheme that assigns a side of the field to CB's, or one that assigns opposing WR's?

They play a scheme that assigns a side of the field to the CBs. I expect them to mix up the assignments, though, since Webster has been embarrassingly bad. Also, they have a new defensive coordinator (Steve Spagnuolo) and the players seem to be adjusting slowly, so that is also a reason for the really bad play. I think once they have a better understanding of the defense they will get better, or at least as good as their talent level will allow them to be which is still below average pretty much everywhere except DE.
