Randy Moss to Patriots? (1 Viewer)

Heres an email thats been going around my place of work, take it for what its worth

I know you all hate rumors, but me and my buddy have it on good authority that the Pats just got Randy Moss for the first rounder we got from Deion Branch. He will wear #88, and if he gets in trouble for any reason, the Raiders will have to give us their 2nd rounder next season. He is flying in for a physical today.None of this is definite, no links, no nothing, but it has happened.Just a heads up.

Just as a start: How dumb would the Raiders be to include a 2nd round pick if Moss "messes up"? It's out of their control.

the fact that the original writer of this e-mail mentions what # Randy Moss will wear completely invalidates him, IMO.

I know you all hate rumors, but...
Weird that someone would preface an e-mail to co-workers with "I know you all hate rumors" like the co-workers talk about the NFL all day...doesn't it sound like someone writing to the FBG community?

None of this is definite, no links, no nothing, but it has happened.
This is also classic.

the Raiders will have to give us their 2nd rounder next season.
would this be in addition to the first? or would there only be a second rounder if he got in trouble? This makes no sense....garbage :bag:

There has been talk and speculation for several weeks of Moss potentially coming to the Pats, so I would not rule this out entirely (although I have not seen anything official on this at all anywhere).

I think it's saying the Pats give a 1st for Moss...and then if Moss "gets into trouble for any reason", the Raiders have to cough up their 2nd......which, given how the two teams will probably finish (especially if the Patriots got Moss :o ), there would be about a 5-7 pick difference between the Patriot 1st rounder and the Oakland 2nd rounder :lmao: . Hell of a deal for the Patriots since Moss is obviously going to get into trouble!

How in the world would the Raiders do a deal that puts them on the hook if Randy Moss "gets in trouble"? Who determines what "trouble" is?

This sounds like BS to me.

Either a huge :fishing:

or a complete scope not seen here since the Priest Holmes doctor visit scope someone got a long time ago.

I am going with Fishing but I could be wrong.

If this was true, and Moss has already been notifed of the trade to the point he had made travel arrangements to take his physical we'd all know about it. The Raiders and Patriots might be talking but if/when Moss finds out we are all going to find out shortly after.

Unless you work for the Patriots, I'm not really interested. Thanks. ETA: I'm totally open to the "Priest Holmes Possibility Theorem", but I'm going to need more than "me and my buddy have it on good authority". At least the Priest Holmes incident had mention of somebody's daughter working for the Chiefs, or something to that effect. . .

But somehow Moss has already determined that he's going to wear 88, lmao.

Is Jerry Porter going to the Pats next?

Gabriel for a fifth, check.

Moss for a first, pending.

Porter for a ???

Conditional draft picks are nothing new. It owuld probably be based on games played and things like that. So, if he was suspended for something, I think that would fall under the "in trouble" thing and he would not meet certain requirements for playing time, which would kick in the 2nd round pick.Similar to player to be named later deals in MLB.

I am not commenting on the validity of the rumour, but how can you not understand how this works?Option A (Randy is a good boy):

TO NEP: WR-Randy Moss

...FOR...

TO OAK: 2007 1st Round Draft Pick (acuired from SEA)

Option B (Randy is a bad boy):

TO NEP: WR-Randy Moss & 2007 2nd Round Draft Pick

...FOR...

TO OAK: 2007 1st Round Draft Pick (acuired from SEA)

Just checked the Patriots roster - there is no one with the #88. :o

That makes it more likely, in my mind, that this e-mail was a prank sent by a very maticulous :fishing: erman

And if there was a player with #88 it would make it??? less likely to be a prank??I don't follow

If there was no mentioning of his # at all, it's less likely to be a prank. The fact that there is no #88 on the roster makes it more likely that that was the reason why someone thought to include such an obscure detail in a made up rumor.Let me know if you still don't follow, I'll try using some crayons.

 Obviously you must have some of those laying around. . . you know the motto: "Be COOL in the Shark Pool!"

So just this guy and his buddy know about this huhInteresting
While this is a much higher level, a guy on a vikings board knew about them signing Bethel 3 days before it became official. Just saying...

While I think this is a very long shot, it is interesting that the Patriots still have a roster slot open right now.

The same guy claims that the Pats are installing field turf AFTER the Colts game and before the Bears game

I have not heard this news anywhere, has anyone else?

If Moss knew he was going to NE and Belichik's orders are always followed, how come none of Moss's bags are packed, how come he hasn't made a call to anyone to let him know he is coming...You can't handle the truth!

Interesting comments by Doug Gabriel in Mike Reiss' blog today:

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/

October 16, 2006

Locker room wrapA few notes from today’s media access in the locker room:

* With the trading deadline tomorrow, WR Doug Gabriel was asked about two of his former Raider teammates, Randy Moss and Jerry Porter. How would he feel if the Patriots acquired Moss? “I think he would be a fit in this offense,” said Gabriel, who last spoke with Moss on Saturday but was unaware of any trade talks. “He’s a guy that loves to work. I’ve said it a million times, if Randy was here, every other receiver would want to pick up their games 110 percent. When he came out there [in Oakland], he made me step my game up. … Randy probably works harder than any person I know. He’ll do whatever it takes. That’s one thing, I guess, that people don’t know about him.”

That's the most interesting part of the whole deal to me. That's a perspective that is completely at odds with what the general public (or at least a good quantity of people on this board) perception of Moss seems to be. Can anyone think of any of Moss's teamates who've had negative things to say about him in that area?
