Randy Moss (1 Viewer)

the only good thing i could say is that he'll most likely be out of oakland. i think it's pretty obvious that he's dogging it just because he's bored with losing.

he could be a decent buy/low in dynasty/keeper leagues, but his days of dominance are over.

IMO, it's tough to say whether he's done other than (my belief) that if he stays with the Raiders, yes, he's done.

Moss is simply pulling the same type of BS that TO and Walker pulled. Although instead of holding out, he's simply not trying which is worse.

Where do you think he will end up? Which teams need a WR and would be willing to take a chance on him? Atlanta? Cleveland? Detroit? San Francico? Tennessee? Not many team I can think of that would do this. Where would his fantasy value be highest?

Minnesota.

It's tough to say - I'd have to look into his contract figures since that would partially determine his trade value.Just off the top of my head, some teams that MIGHT be interested could be Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, and Kansas City.

I almost think it would have to be one of his old coaches.Rams, JAX. Saban seems like he's take the risk. Herm probably thinks he could reach Moss. Beyond that, no one is going to give up what the Raiders want. And that's at least a late 1st. At the trading deadline they wanted two 1st rnd picks.

Moss is done ... in Oakland. Somebody will meet Oakland's price for him.

When he got traded a couple of years ago, he really wanted to go to Atlanta. The way their receivers have played this year, they really need someone to can actually CATCH THE BALL. They can part with 1 or 2 of their WRs and some draft picks for Moss.

I don't know if the guy is done or not, but I definitely feel he will not be challenging Rice's career records.

Edit to add: Although I sort of doubt it, maybe the change in o-coordinator will help Moss this year (can't hurt I guess).

I would think Oakland has to get rid of Moss. Likely landing spots, in my opinion, might include New England, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville.

Moss is not the same player he was a couple of years back. He has lost about 2 or 3 steps with his speed. Even in 1 on 1 coverage he cant get seperation like he used to.

Bump.

I have Moss in a contract dynasty league and he's one of the main questions I'll be facing in off-season mode. Instead of annoyingly starting another thread about his dynasty outlook, I thought I'd just bump this one.

I'm interested to hear from any other Moss dynasty owners, and what you're doing.

Is he a get-anything-for-him-while-you-can guy?

Or would be it better to wait for a possible team change to sell him after some positive buzz comes up?

Or is he a bounceback candidate going into next year?

Obviously the answer may ultimately lie in between somewhere based on what you could get for Moss, but I'm still curious to hear some thoughts.

I'm holding on to him, because his value is already almost nil. There'd be no value in trading him now. Just gonna wait it out and see what happens in the offseason. If he's traded/released, he could become valuable once again -- if that happens I wouldn't hesitate to trade him if there's any value whatsoever. Love to get him off my team, the guy has no heart IMO.

Atlanta could give back a WR like Lelie, a defensive player like Kearney or Abraham, and a 2nd or 3rd rounder. This might help even the money and give a pick.

I know that Kearney and Abraham are solid defensive players and may be the heart and soul of the ATL defense, but Kearney seems to get hurt a lot so the loss may not seem like too great a blow.

I have no idea if this works for the cap or if it is a realistic possibility. I was just throwing out some value that ATL might give in return to persuade the Raiders.

You can get both Moss and Porter for that. We'd ask for Schaub but he doesnt fit the Oakland profile.

The terms and length of his current contract with your squad are probably gonna be the most important factors for you to consider this offseason when making a decision about Moss. Having said that, he'll be a free agent this season in my contract league and I'm definitely going to make an aggressive run at him. He'll never be cheaper to aquire and the guy is absolutely not done. He's had loads of problems all season, but almost none of them are related to his physical ability. Sure, he's not quite as fast as he once was, but someone said he was 2 - 3 steps slower this season and that's ridiculous. The guy still gets open more than 95% of the receivers in the NFL. He's still plenty fast. And he still has tremendous leaping ability. But his lapses of concentration when the ball is coming his way are inexplicable and unprecedented(entirely different story when the ball isn't coming his way). Moss' hands have never been an issue until this season, but he's dropped an unbelievable number of catchable balls this season. I have no idea what the official count is, but one would probably need to multiply it by three to get to the actual number. So unless he's suffering from a central nervous system disorder or a severe drug problem, he doesn't appear to be damaged goods. And let's face it, has any Oakland player distinguished themselves with excellent play this season? He's a helluva buy low this offseason and his upside is obviously huge. Worth the risk.

He's a head case. And, regardless of his talent, coaches are not going to willing to take much of a gamble on an alligator armed, sulking player, who seemingly has no competitive drive, and loafs on plays in which he is not involved.

Moss gets traded on draft day to the Titans for their first round pick. Moss gives Young a great WR (I still believe Moss is a top 5 WR talent wise in the NFL.

The Raiders take Calvin Johnson # 1 and Troy Smith with the Titans first round pick.

Ummmm, no.But, it's fun to bat this stuff around. As a huge Viking fan, it really saddens me to see Moss reduced to this level (or should I say revealed).

Raiders would be lucky to get anything for Moss given his salary, let alone a first round pick.

Why take Troy Smith in the first when they can take Reggie Ball after the draft? I'm sure Calvin will love it!

Moss is dogging it because he is on a pitiful team.

Ive seen the man play very well in the past for a Vikings team that was decent.

Id be tickled pink if the steelers would sign him, but his price is too high to play for a team like that.

Bottom line, put Moss on a team with a good QB and a playoff contender, and see what happens.

Id put my money on it.

He doesnt even have to try hard to dominate other players. Look at it like this. A Giraffe doesnt really have to work hard to eat the leaves that other animals cannot reach. Moss works the same way. He is a physical freak of nature that feasts off the hard to reach catches. He doesnt really have to try too hard to "survive" in the NFL. If he gets any spark in him, he'll once again be a force and a worthy #1 fantasy WR.

Moss does not run like he used to. Watching him on tape his gait is different, he does not seem to have that smooth fluid style. Plus his burst is gone. Physical or mental..who knows?

Bingo - his gait is definitely different. He was a physical specimen who is flirting with 30. It sucks, but we all get old.

Good or a non-felon?

Moss is dogging it because he has no heart. It's unreal that people use the excuse that because his team is poor then he shouldn't have to try. Does that mean if a team loses a few games in a row none of the players have to try anymore and they can all just go through the motions? Should Roy Williams on Detroit quit on the team and only give 30%? Should Willie Parker stop giving it his all because Pittsburgh is probably going to miss the playoffs? If Denver is elimated from the playoffs maybe Javon Walker should just jog his routes in the last couple of games.

I think there's a considerable difference between excusing Moss for his behavior and trying to explain his behavior; a reason is not always an excuse. I don't think anyone here would argue that Moss has heart or is an ####### for laying down this season - but at the same time, looking at the reason for his motivation in order to attempt to predict his fantasy value down the line is still a worthwhile endeavor.

ESPN's John Clayton reports "the thought" around Oakland is that Randy Moss (ankle) might not play again during the regular season.

In that case, either Ron Curry or Doug Gabriel will move into Moss' spot, most likely Curry. Clayton says the final two games are meaningless, although Raiders coach Art Shell might disagree. We're not sure whether Moss himself would. Oakland might as well not push Moss and if they lose out, the Raiders will have a good shot at the No. 1 pick in 2007.
