Rank the rookie TE's (1 Viewer)

5 of the first 7 TE's drafted landed on team's w/o a dominant TE on the roster. Fasano (DAL) and Thomas (NE) were the only two exceptions.

For dynasty leagues, how do you guys rank the 5 TE's who fell into these great situations??

Vernon Davis (SF)

Mercedes Lewis (JAX)

Joe Klopfenstein (StL)

Tony Scheffler (DEN)

Leonard Pope (AZ)

I'm also curious why Pope was drafted AFTER Klop, Fasano and Scheffler. There's been some chatter regarding Pope's overall coordination. For example, WhoDat has stated

"Ever see a fawn or calf attempt to run? Sort of long, goofy stride and looking like they might brake stride and fall at any minute...make any sense? Pope has that type of coordination and I am not sure if he grows into his body or out of the problem."

I know Pope is not the best pass-blocking TE on the planet. However, neither is Mercedes or Scheffler. It just blows my mind that a 6'8" guy who can run a 4.62 / 40 and has a 37.5" vertical could fall through two rounds of NFL drafting. For a visualization, Pope can come with one inch of hitting his head on a basketball rim while leaping from a stationery position. Even ignoring the measurables, Pope has good hands and was productive for GA (500+ yards receiving). Was Pope this year's Jason Witten?? I know Witten was also red-flagged b/c he ran stiff entering the draft.

Rankings?? Thoughts?? I'd go with...

1) Davis

2) Mercedes

3) Klop

4) Pope

5) Scheffler

1)Davis

2)Lewis

is easy, especially for the short term. Lewis could become a trusted target for Lord Byron with Jimmy heading for greener pastures.

3) Klop, but he's got to compete and possibly split with Byrd, who I believe is actually the more talented pass catcher.

4) Scheffler - Im getting real close to moving him to #3. I think he's got a bigger upside than Klop, although he's less proven.

5) Pope - just dont see how he will get his with the dynamic duo there in Arizona.

I agree 100% with WhoDat's assessment of Pope. he's just awkward and upright. Courtney Anderson is similar (great call by Cecil) and we've seen how he has struggled to emerge despite towering over DBs.

Davis - has it all

Lewis - looks like a good fit to me

Scheffler - great situation, going a bit earlier than I expected in rookie drafts though

Pope - should be clear starting TE in a good offense. Probably will get Bubba Franks stats - 2 catches per game for .5 TDs. EOY rank = 12 every year, but he's unstartable.

Klop - not sure he's better than Byrd
