All 5 of these WRs have questions, and I am just torn as to where these guys should be ranked going forward this year. All five of these guys can be elite, and if you get the right ones on your team, they can help carry you to a title. Here is my quick analysis of these players:
Marques Colston
Pros: Colston is young, with tons of upside. Not much has changed since last year when he put up huge numbers. He is the #1 receiving option on one of the best passing teams in the league.
Cons: Colston is recovering from an injury, and is still playing with a splint on his thumb. He was definately rusty last week. He has only three catches in the two games that he played this year. It still isn't known how the addition of Shockey will affect his numbers.
Terrell Owens
Pros: Coming off a year where he scored 16 TDs, and is on pace for 11 this year. He is the #1 receiver on a great offense.
Cons: His numbers will definately suffer while Romo is out. And while he has 5 TDs, he is on pace for only 910 yards this season. He is yet to have a 100 yard game this year. Could the addition of Roy Williams mean less targets for T.O.? The Cowboys are a mess right now, and we have all seen what can happen what T.O. isn't happy.
Calvin Johnson
Pros: Calvin is a freak. If he was on a team with a good QB, he would be the best WR in the game. He has shown that when given opportunities, he makes plays. I hear a lot about how Detroit has a terrible QB, and an awful offensive line. But Detroits QB play and offensive line has been awful all year, and Johnson is still on pace for 1400 yards and 10 TDs.
Cons: Detroit's remaining schedule is very tough. I don't see the Lions scoring much against teams like Chicago, Jacksonville, Tampa, Tennessee, and Minnesota. So while I think CJ will still put up great numbers, he may be inconsistant.
Plaxico Burress
Pros: Burress is the #1 receiver in New York, and with Shockey gone, he is Eli's primary red zone target. He should continue to put up numbers in that offense.
Cons: Burress doesn't seem happy in New York, and the Giants may not be happy with him. He has already been suspended by the team once this year, and was seen screaming at Tom Caughlin on the sidelines Sunday. Burress has less than 60 yards in each of his last three games this year. He injured his finger in Sundays game, but it doens't appear to be serious.
Randy Moss
Pros: Moss showed Monday night that he isn't done yet. Like Calvin Johnson, all he needs is for his QB to get him the ball, and he will make plays.
Cons: I don't think Cassell will be able to get Moss the ball on a consistant basis. While Moss will still have a couple more games like Monday, he will still have several games with 50 yards and no TDs.
I am really don't know where to rank these guys. But I'd probably go something like this:
1. Colston
2. Owens
3. Johnson
4. Burress
5. Moss
Opinions? Where would you rank these guys?
