Ranking FA QBs on Ability, Teams by Need (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
FA/Tradeable QBs in terms of what they can provide in 2011

1. Kolb (only guy on the market with his prime in front of him)

2. Palmer (despite all the bellyaching he nearly hit 4k yards and played like a very competent starter with slightly less zip on his passes. He did give up a few games as well though)

3. McNabb (his natural skills put him here. His desire and head should be questioned)

4. Kyle Orton (aka the mirage)

5. Hasselbeck (the consummate caretaker QB)

6. Vince Young (attitude, accuracy and aptitude concerns make him bottom of the best)

Other names less exciting include Marc Bulger, for those who did not watch or have forgotten Rams football for the final four years of his tenure, Jake Delhomme, Kerry Collins, Matt Moore and Matt Leinart.

Top teams in terms of need

1. Arizona (they have no one and I am a Skelton dynasty owner)

2. Minnesota (they need to rebound bad and I am not buying the Ponder hype)

3. San Fran (Caepernick a longshot to ever start. How long can this team stomach Alex Smith?)

4. Seattle (Hass turned down a sweet 1-year deal)

5. Tennessee (a vet would be good)

6. Cincy (same)

7. Panthers (letting Newton sit and learn would be the smartest thing they could do with that pick)

8. Miami (Henne isn't going to get it)

9. Washington (Current choices are Beck and Grossman)

please add any to either list. 6 QBs, 5 of which could make quality starters for 2011, and 9 teams with need. Which goes where?

Kind of disagree on your order.

1st has to be Washington. They have no one. Agree on Arizona being high.

I disagree on Kaepernick. I still think he could be the best QB out of this class and that the coach will make him a star. SF is only looking for a caregiver for this year and seem intent on Smith if he wants to go back. Kolb would be the last guy they want here. Probably dont trade for a guy either. So I put them last on the list

Seattle is in real need. Do you really trust Whitehurst. They are 3rd on the list'

Cincy, Tennessee, Carolina are all the same to me. They could use a Vet. I like Kaepernick over all of these starters to be. Smart, Good arm, mobile. Good intangibles.

As far as where they go

Kolb stays put. They want to much and he feels more like AJ Feeley than matt Schuabb. Interesting Feeley came from Philly also

Palmer looks to be retiring. Brown is going to play hardball. He has nothing to lose really as the pick is okay but he might get it in a year from now

Orton. He is high on all list but depends on price. He wont win you a SB but makes a great fit for Cincy, Tennessee, Carolina as consumate pro

McNabb to the Vikes

Hasselbeck to Washington

Leinart to Seattle

Bulger by default ends up with the Cards.

Young to Miami makes too much sense right now.

I'll play

Arizona, mcnabb

Seattle, leinart or palmer. Carrol snags one of his ex trojans here

San fran. Josh johnson as a dark horse or alex smith

Tenn. Hasselback

Cincy. No one. Too stupid and too cheap to bring anyone in

Miami. Henne, thigpen, and vince young duke it out

Carolina, bulger

Minn. Orton

Wash. Can see them working a deal for kolb. If not, perhaps they pull a deal for palmer

Just for 2011 as you posted

1. Kyle Orton - Most ready to lead a team to wins this season

2. Palmer - Can pick up a new offense quickly enough to help so i bumped him up 2

3. McNabb - Moved him down to 3 because I doubt his ability to pick up an offense quickly enough to be a lot of help

4. Kolb - Hasn't shown enough to be above the veterans. Best long term option though.

5. Hass - The garbage has begun

6. Young

7. Moore

8. Leinart

9. Bulger

10. Delhomme

1. Arizona - Need someone so that they can hold onto Fitz. and with the right qb this team is a contender again

2. Minnesota - Need a stop gap to let Ponder learn and they have a legit shot with the right qb.

3. Washington - terrible options

4. Seattle - beat the saints last year and won their division a little help wouldn't hurt

5. San Fran. - A half decent qb might help a lot

6. Tennessee

7. Panthers - the sooner they find out that the rook sucks the better

8. Cinci - team isn't going to win games no matter who they get

9. Miami - Henne good enough with the available options
