It just really sunk in last night. I was listening to some old BDP and on I'm Still #1 when he's talking about there's no such thing as old school because rap's not even 20 years old so yet so it's still the new school. Then he said maybe after 50 years we can talk about old school. My initial reaction was "well #### we're a ways away from 50 years old" then when I did the calculation in my head, it's more than halfway there! I take him seriously when he says he'll still be rhyming then.
Funny you say that. I was listening to that track last week and thought the exact same thing. I've met KRS a few times. Great guy and no one knows how to rock a show better. If you haven't seen KRS or Rakim in concert, you're really missing out.
BTW, I'd like to hear everyone's Top 5 KRS tracks. Here's mine:1. My Philosophy2. Loves Gonna Getcha3. Sound of Da Police4. Step Into a World5. Hip Hop Vs. Rap 5a. Outta HereReturn of The Boom Bap is my favorite album which is surprising. Normally I like a rappers first or second album the best.
IIRC, Return of the Boom Bap was his first solo project. I like your first 3. For 4 and 5 I'd probably throw in something like MCs Act Like They Don't Know and The MC. Maybe Higher Level or P Is Still Free or I'm Still #1... lots of contenders for those last two tracks.
