Guys, I panicked. Despite preparing for a month for my big money (and only) league, I panicked. Twice. Thoughts, advice, and reassurances are welcome. Cheers.
[Start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 D/ST, 1 K] [0.5 ppr]
[12 team league] [10th pick, serpentine] [Panic picks italicized]
QB: Matthew Stafford (8)
RBs: Leonard Fournette (1) , Lamar Miller (4), Tevin Coleman (6), Giovani Bernard (9), C.J. Anderson (11), Latavius Murray (12)
WRs: Keenan Allen (2) , Tyreek Hill (3), JuJu Smith-Schuster (5), Tyrell Williams (15), Josh Doctson (10)
TEs: Delanie Walker (7), George Kittle (13)
D/ST: Vikings (14)
K: Wil Lutz (NO)
Draft Plan: Knowing I had the 10 spot ahead of time, I planned to start RB/WR; hoping for Gordon or Fournette to fall for the first pick, and for Allen to be there for the second. After that, I was going to put off TE and load up on RB/WR value, leaning towards RBs because they usually go fast in my league. In the dozens of mocks I ran, Collins was always there waiting at 3.10, so I was waiting to draft him, then grab a WR at 4.02. I'd wait on TE til at least the 7th, and eventually grab a QB (Stafford or Goff were preferred) within the next few rounds (draft depending).
Draft Reality:The first two rounds went as planned, but I didn't expect Tyreek Hill to still be there in the third. I'm high on him this year, so I decided to risk it and grab him. But, of course, Collins got snagged on the turn. I was left choosing between Lamar Miller and Derrick Henry, and opted for Miller as the safer bet (even though I'm not very excited about it). All of the RBs that had been around in the mocks were completely gone by the time it came back around in the 5th. JuJu, however, was still there, and since I'd been grabbing him in the 4th in all those mocks, he seemed just as good for the flex spot. At this point I knew my RB depth was going to be an issue, so I decided to go for committee backs which had standalone value, thinking that they could always start in the flex, and would become RB2 or RB1 worthy if their counterpart went down. Coleman at 6.02 was the first. Most of the receivers I'd been eyeing for later rounds were snagged in rounds 7 and 8, so I went with Delanie Walker at 7.10, but panicked at 8.02 after falling behind inputting picks into the draft dominator and went with Stafford, regretting going for him that early almost instantly. Grabbed Giovani Bernard at 9.10, then panicked again at 10.02 when I couldn't find the WR I was looking for (thanks ESPN) and just clicked the highest ranked WR available (which for some reason was Josh Doctson). I finished out the draft with a decent attempt to add depth, grabbing CJ Anderson in the 11th, Murray in the 12th, and Tyrell Williams in the 15th. But I'm still disappointed in myself, I know there's a lot I could've done better, it just looked nothing like the drafts I'd been doing all month.
