Harbaugh on making a trade: "There are possibilities"

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Friday that “there are possibilities” of a trade but he couldn’t gauge whether the team would make a move before Tuesday’s NFL deadline.

There has been speculation -- nothing confirmed by either team -- that the Ravens will send a second-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, who seems to have had a falling out with new coach Todd Haley. A 2007 first-round pick, Bowe has caught at least 70 passes in his first two seasons and has scored 15 career touchdowns.

“It’s so hard to anticipate activity,” Harbaugh said when asked about the possibility of a trade. “We work on a lot of things. I know Ozzie [Newsome], Eric [DeCosta] and Vince [Newsome], and those guys turn over every stone to make our team better. I’m sure they are looking at a lot of things right now. There are possibilities, but it’s so hard to make a trade in the NFL. You don’t see it very often. It’s very rare. We just have to see what happens."

It makes perfect sense because the Ravens really have no WR that scares anyone. Mason is good at moving the chains but Bowe could be explosive on that offense. For the same reasons it made sense for the Jets to go get Edwards the Ravens should go get Bowe.

Get r done.

 I would be excited to see Bowe on the Ravens if this happens. He's got the "it" factor that makes stars in the NFL - his production would probably go up after getting acclimated with the Ravens' system (and given how under-utilized he's been in KC this year). 5 5 dnp 4 10 targets so far for 15/181/3 is a waste of his talents, IMHO. There is no way Bobby Wade should lead KC in targets this year, yet he does. :(

This would be shocking, but as a Bowe owner I'd certainly welcome it. What does KC think it's going to do at receiver?

Hmmmmmm....Let's see here. I''m putting myself in the Chiefs' front office for a moment. The new regime comes to town, we trade away a 2nd and a 5th for overrated Matt Cassel and 'ol man Vrabel and fail to add any quality linemen up front to protect him and open up the running game. Next, we open up the wallet and break Cassel off with $63M, almost $30M guaranteed. Hey, how 'bout we ship out Tony G., one of te All-Time great Chiefs for a future 3rd. Well, I'm forgetful, was it a 3rd or 2nd? Which leads me to today......you know what guys, let's now trade our only WR, whom we drafted in the 1st Rd just 3 years ago so he's right about to emerge into his prime years, for a 2nd Rd pick next year.......OK!....Now let's all fire ourselves for this toilet-bowl team we've now assembled.

This trade ain't gonna happen............The Chiefs better be looking to acquire more targets and protection for their offense and franchise player Cassel, not run more good players out of town... then again, stranger/stupider things have happened in this league of late.....cough, cough......cough...Cleveland....cough...Browns...

Sadly I agree.Would love to see Bowe with a better surrounding cast, but it makes very little sense for the Chiefs to move him. Here's to hoping.

They are coming to the realization that the Cassell signing was a mistake. They need to cut their losses here, Bowe is going to soon be #####ing about getting paid...a team this bad should be paying no one...just aquiring draft picks. It's sad because if they had just kept Allen and Gonzo, plus made a few ok signings this could have been a contender in that division.

KC seems like a team that doesn't really know what they are doing.

As a Flacco owner, I would jizz myself if this trade went down. His playoff schedule is pretty good Det/Chi Pitt, all teams that have been giving passing yards and are probably one or two injuries away (except Det of course) from being sieves.

while I agree to an extent don't underestimate the "our guys" syndrone. Pioli is cut from the Belicheck, McDaniels, Mangini cloth. They like to have "their guys"...team players that buy into their system and program. Bowe had issues during the preseason with Haley and maybe he's seen the light, maybe not but sometimes talent doesn't matter as much as acquiring their guys that buy into their system. Winslow and Edwards were clearly the best players on their team but they were both dealt so there's no reason that Bowe can't be dealt either. Whether he will be is another issue ....I'd put it at about 30%.

Just pure speculation here...but maybe somethings brewing...

Cassel has been playing well lately and most Chiefs fans are happy with him. His last 3 games he has 6 TD's and no picks and he's one tough SOB because he's constantly taking a pounding. The main problem with the Chiefs is the O-line. Cassel doesn't have much time to throw the ball due to constant pressure or getting sacked. As a Chiefs fan, if this trade went down I would be devastated. Bowe is the only real threat we have on offense and arguably the best player on the team.

Cassel and Vrabel were traded for a 2nd, not a 2nd and a 5th.

Bowe would have to be worth a 1st rounder +
After posting this then reading thru the responses, I agree that it seems sort of, umm, improbable. The Ravens probably had chances at Braylon, Boldin, TO and didn't do it. This doesn't make sense for KC since he was a 1st rounder and is just now entering his prime...unless they don't want to pay him or there's still some lingering personality issues. If it happens, I congratulate the Ravens, shake my head at the Chiefs, standby to watch Cassel dropped to the wire in all FF leagues, and will be pretty psyched for both my FF teams.

As does Flacco, they could make for a dangerous duo for many years to come.

The Rams could use Bowe and they will probably be drafting 1st or 2nd overall. How about the #33 pick for Bowe ? It's pretty close to a #1.

Bowe and Robinson with Avery in the slot would be a nice WR group. Gir-r-done

I agree... Nice to dream but this deal wont happen IMHO.

They need to keep Bowe, bottom line. They then need to take o lineman with 2 of their first 3 picks. I know the Jets are not the model franchise, but what they have done is nothing short of impressive. They rebuilt their line in relatively a short amount of time. By taking Brick (not as big of a stud as most anticipated though most agreed was a good pick) and Mangold in the early goings of that draft, they have anchors for years on that line.

You cant sign play makers without protecting them.

Sounds like I'm in the minority here but IMO Bowe's value in a redraft takes a big hit if he's dealt to BAL.

Right now he's the main offensive weapon on a team that can't run the ball and figures to be passing a lot because they're playing from behind.

In Baltimore, he'd be dealing with a much more effective running game and a stouter defense that will frequently have them ahead and in "run the clock" mode come the 2nd half of ballgames.

As a Bowe owner I'm hoping this one *doesn't* go down.

Agreed. I had a trade offer in to get him, pulled it down after I read this. Will wait until next week to re-offer, after the deadline.

I disagree. I think him paired up with a decent QB will make him a huge production guy and a big threat down field. I think Flacco owners would want this to happen to, as the passing game would be that much more open. As a Bowe owner, I really do hope this happens as I can't see his production going any further down.

Somewhere, over the Dwayne Bowe, way up high.

There's a rumor I heard of once on a football site.

Somewhere, over the Dwayne Bowe, skies are blue.

And the dreams Raven fans dare to dream really do come true.

Someday they wish to have a star

To shake up Bengals/Browns subpar

Secondaries.

Whom Steeler corners cannot stop

As Dwayne skies high and has no drops.

It's up to Ozzie.

Somewhere, over the Dwayne Bowe

Ravens fly.

Chiefs just want picks for Dwayne Bowe

Why then, oh why not try?

Click your heels 3 times Ravens fans. You never know what might happen.

Kudos to CP!

Not sure that my wife would approve as she is a huge Wizard of Oz fan and hates all the recent commercials.

Haha! I'm an idiot, but I like having my little bit of fun.(Edit -- consider yourself lucky I didn't take a stab at "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Bowe :loco: )
