Ravens place RB Lewis on PUP

Edward Lee

7/28/2006

Ravens training camp opened with somewhat of a surprise as running back Jamal Lewis was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list due to an injured hip.

Lewis said he tweaked his left hip flexor during an offseason workout about two weeks ago. Lewis said he could've participated with the team at McDaniel College in Westminster, but both he and coach Brian Billick said the decision to delay his return was precautionary.

Lewis, who has been tabbed by Billick as the team's starting running back ahead of former Denver Bronco Mike Anderson, said he hoped to practice with the team by Monday.

Wide receiver Clarence Moore, who is recovering from surgery to repair a sports hernia, was also placed on the PUP list.

He's probably trying to lower Lewis's ADP so he can get him later in his fantasy draft.

I'm not too worried. Of course, I have both Ravens backs.
Then you ARE worried. The worst thing is if both are fine, and they split carries. The best thing is if one is clearly superior to the other, so you're probably hoping he'll be on the PUP list all year. :D

Lewis, WR Moore Still SidelinedEdward Lee, Baltimore Sun - [Full Article]Ravens RB Jamal Lewis and WR Clarence Moore remained on the PUP list as training camp moved into its third day. Team officials had hoped that Lewis (strained hip flexor) would be able to practice, but HC Brian Billick said the training staff elected to keep Lewis and Moore (sports hernia) on the sidelines again. Billick said it was up to the trainers to decide when Lewis and Moore would be allowed to return to the field.
This has to worry you when drafting him.
