Ray Rice - Post Bye, ROS - Thoughts? (1 Viewer)

Certainly one of the premier backs of the last few years in Fantasy. Some questions coming into the year about role with Pierce, but it's been more an inconsistent offense / gamecalling plus injury that's hampered him.

Thoughts coming out of the bye? Is he a buy lowish, or is he a sell while you can get name value?

I follow the Ravens a decent amount, but up here in NY I don't have the insight of my B-more brethren. What's it looking and feeling like for Rice ROS?

I've been on the fence about moving him. I'm certainly discouraged by his output, but the Ravens are aware of the issues with the line and run game, and have been making adjustments. Plus, we saw that he could easily have those 2TD games. There was recently an article about how Rice hasn't been 100% until recently, and last week was the first week he had his "burst" back, but who knows for sure. The good news is that last week, they were running him more out of shotgun to try and lose the predictability in the run game. I just wish he was catching more balls.

I'm likely waiting at least a week to see how he looks after the bye. If I don't see a change I'll probably try to package him for a big name player. A few teams are hurting at RB in my league, and Rice's value certainly can't get lower (unless he gets hurt).

I don't blame Ray, but I am not a fan of the situation at all! Not a bust like Spiller in my PPR, but he is a middle of the pack RB2 for ROY.

I've watched Rice a lot this year and he doesn't have much burst at all, or at least he's way late getting to the hole if there is one, poor blocking could be a factor but in years past he would make something out of nothing and that hasn't been happening much.

I traded for him figuring he's one of the safest RB2 producers and one of the few guys with some big-game upside in PPR. A hip injury is a big deal and he's not old but he's closer to 30 than 20 so I buy into him getting healthier and more explosive as the season progresses.

Something to bear in mind, Pierce hasn't been 100% either. I have a feeling they lean on Rice down the stretch which bodes well for his workload.

This is an interesting thread for me as I'm thinking of targeting rice. His schedule is kind of tough until the playoffs then it loosens up significantly weeks 14-16.

If he has more than 60 total yds & a couple GL touches @ Clev I'll be pleasantly surprised. I view him as a Flex start only. If he proves me wrong, cool with me but I'm not gonna keep starting him due to past success. He's one of the victims of the annual top 12 RB volatility, something I started believing weeks ago

The top five might be volatile but ray rays not leaving the top 15 in ppr. He's going to be a top 10 producer in second half to get there.

I agree with this. I think he is going to roar back in PPR in the second half.

Not that I think you are wrong, necessarily, but why do you think this?

:blackdot: just picked him up as my RB3/flex. Usually he's solid after a bye week, but I'm not penciling him into the lineup just yet. Really hope that he comes back strong for the FF playoff weeks.

I have a standing offer... (getting) Ray Rice in exchange for Percy Harvin.

Gonna pull the trigger because I think we've seen the floor for Rice. Hopefully he'll hit that ceiling a couple times down the stretch.
