I feel like a huge weight has been lifted after a long offseason of dark clouds and negativity. As soon as he hit that 28 yard run on his 1st carry my night got a lot better. He's a cornerstone of my 16 team dynasty league team, so allow me to say "WHEW!"

Indeed. But he was having trouble finding running room after having 109 yards off the jump. He ran for 18 more on eight carries. That's what I'm talking about. They stacked the box.
All other things constant, having Wilson back there is good for running back volume. That said, I'd venture to say that it's a bad thing overall for Hall. I think he'll continue to be on a pitch count and that the increased volume will go to Michael Carter and Dalvin Cook. So the volume won't increase and you'll see stacked boxes that are harder to run against.
Week 1 Breece Hall was #1 in YAC (131) #2 in missed tackles forced (5) and he did it on 10 carries.
Buffalo is a good defense, and this was Hall's 1st game back. I think the pitch count goes away real quick, as the Jets adjust to being as run heavy as any team in the NFL.
I think Breece Hall is a top-5 RB going forward.
ETA: And there is room for Dalvin to be a high-end RB3.

He looked like Nick Chubb. Could be the steal of the draft. Wish I had him. Went against him week 1 and held my breath every time he touched the ball.

Sounds like NYJ still have Super Bowl aspirations with Zach Wilson at the helm. Not sure you sniff those aspirations without riding on the shoulders of Breece Hall. I just don't think it makes sense to shelf him for another year. He showed what he is capable of and Dalvin Cook showed he's not capable of what Breece Hall is capable of... Rodgers going down doesn't change my stance on Hall this season. He will likely see a lot of balls thrown to him and I think we saw his floor the other night.

Rodgers and a good passing game to balance the offense would have allowed the Jets to bring Breece along slower and split more with Cook. With Rodgers gone, he'll certainly face tougher defensive fronts but he'll much more involved sooner than they probably wanted to but will have no choice if they don't want to flush their year down the toilet.

As a shareholder in Fantasy - it's actually more of a win the way things played out because of what you highlighted. He will continue to ascend above Dalvin Cook production-wise and they'll be forced to use him more but yeah... as a player, that sucks but he looked pretty good with the limited carries he had.

He reminds me of vintage AP when he hits the line of scrimmage….in a sense that this good sized back has a chance to house it on any given run. Bummed I missed on him.

Going to be a long season. Can't really put him in your lineup, especially with all world Dalvin Cook sharing carries.

It will get better. This is a dominant defense they are up against. It’s not ideal for sure and he won’t hit his talent ceiling but he will be useful.

I have Puka on my bench with 25+ in that league. Fortunately I’m the highest scorer in that IDP, but it’s less than ideal.

Y, and he’s chirping/posting on twitter that he’s not getting the ball enough. Im guessing it’s because they probably overfed him week 1 and then they correct it this week by nearly avoiding him completely.
Winning any will be really tough if their defense doesn’t get 3+ turnovers and or a score. They aren’t winning anything if they don’t use Breece because Cook looks Cooked…he’s not going to move the chains like Breece does.
Hell, they only got Wilson two catches. Not sure about the offensive game plan when you’re top 2 players have 6 combined touches.

The Jets need to inquire about a QB upgrade and do it quick. To be fair to Wilson, he actually played better against Dallas than I thought he would, but he isn't the answer and I believe everyone knows it. Even if they just wanted Wilson to be a game manager, that team isn't good enough for just a QB game manager.

The question becomes, where does a team get a QB upgrade in the middle of the season? And coming in cold, how much of an upgrade would that realistically be? I saw that the Jets would consider Ryan or Rivers. But those guys aren't spring chickens and haven't been playing. Who else could they get that would be a positive to the offense?

Yup. They brought in Aaron's water boy and now they dont have Aaron. Pretty clear his goal was just to give Aaron the same playbook he had in GB and let him basically call the game from the LOS.
Lots of head-scratching stuff yesterday. Only 4 carries for Breece Hall (I know he's still ramping back up and they were gonna lose anyway....but FOUR?)......consistently playing Uzomah when they have better options for both his "blocking" (2nd year guy Jeremy Ruckert is an animal on that front) and recieving (they've run plays in an empty backfield with CJ split wide and Hardman sitting on the bench). And they only ran twice behind the far better side of the line (AVT and Becton on the right), got 6 yards each time and never went there again.
Maybe yesterday is just a "Throw the tape out" day but its looking like a clown show. This guy somehow rose up the ranks due to having an NFL father (who was a bad OC for the Jets in his own right) and a relationship with Rodgers but looks totally out of his depth. And now they're stuck with him. Brutal.

agreed - this was an overreaction to him carrying too much last game, top defense, game getting out of hand quick and coaches just keeping him on ice in an unwinable game. Buy low and fast - after the initial brutal start of the schedule it loosens up big time and by then Cook will have shown to be toast and the pitch count will be gone.

Trade for Brissett, Zappe, Huntley, or Heinicke? All of which are probably better than Wilson.

I am a Hall owner and can't help but worry that with Wilson at QB and with a shaky OL, the Jets offense will constantly be spinning its wheels, teams will crowd the line and make Wilson beat them, and the Jets will be behind a lot. And that doesn't take into account Hall still recovering from injury. I suspect that teams will double the other Wilson and the Jets offense will continue on the path as a bottom 5 offense. In 16 of Wilson's 23 starts at QB, the Jest scored 21 or fewer points.

understand the concern - but remember Hall was crushing it last year even with Zach before he got hurt. Check out the schedule after the 1st 6 games. I always felt that was when the pitch count is removed and they will be much more in games than the rough ones coming up. Id be all over a buy low

I can tell you that Zappe is not an upgrade. He was absolutely horrible in training camp . . . he was a sack or a turnover waiting to happen (which is why NE originally released him before the season started). He is indecisive, holds the ball too long, and unless he has a clean pocket may be worse than Jones or Wilson under duress. IIRC, the beat guys that tracked his snaps in camp determined that a third of his drop backs ended in sacks or turnovers.
As for the other guys, they might be an upgrade, but they may not be that much of an upgrade to make a difference in their record (it would probably help Hall). The Jets defense is solid (if not really good), but I don't think they are the best defensive unit in 20+ years. IMO, with their schedule, they need at least a top half of the league QB to be a playoff contender.

If that wasnt the plan going in it sure seemed that way as the game went on - and I agree with it. I dont expect he'll be fully unleashed until game 6 or so but he will be at some point.

I'm putting him on the bench this week, but I don't feel good about it.
Going into the season, pretend I told you 3 things going into Week 3:
1. He's averaging 9.7 yards per carry (after playing 2 great defenses)
2. He's still not himself, but he's flashed that he's better than most (including Cook).
3. He's chomping for more. Maybe his body isn't ready for more, but it's good to see he wants it.
You'd be pretty pumped about that and probably have to get him a round or so earlier.
And I absolutely agree that the coaching staff might have had a private agreement that @dallas might be a really good time keep Breece on the shelf barring some miracle that the game got competitive.

Problem is Z Wilson is so bad teams will just stack the box and dare to pass. Belichick owns the Jets - Im not starting any Jets this week...even hall. By game 6 though Ill be all in on Hall

At this point a lousy Ridder is way better than Wilson who has been historically bad....especially vs New England. Belichick will dare them to throw all game - remember last year Zach led them to 100 total yds vs the Pats. Im not sayin Hall doesnt have the ability to go off - but im not risking it this week. Hope im wrong

wilson is likely the worst starting qb in the league right now. let’s be honest, if it wasn’t for that pick being #2 overall, he might not even be in the league. i saw ridder last week and he seems capable of keeping a defense honest. wilson isn’t capable. so, play 8 in the box to stuff hall (you don’t even need 8 when cook is on the field, as he’s proving to be levean bell bad). the. you can watch zack panic, hold the ball, bang it off helmets 3 yards away and be wildly inaccurate. a huge issue is that he is woeful on 3rd down, even worse than 1st and 2nd, so when the jets inevitably run into the line on 1-2 down, he is left with 3rd and long and no prayer.
Yeah I dont think risking it till Hall seems to be getting enough snaps to matter is adviseable either. Not every week he is getting 100+ yards on ten carrys. Last year before injury Hall was outstanding playing with 2 lousy quarterbacks including Wilson. Assuming he bounces back from the injury close to 100% he will be fine.

Even with Rodgers I think they wouldnt unleash Hall until week 6 or so - but man can you imagine how he would be if rodgers was the QB? Top 5 easily. Should still be solid down the stretch Id say as a solid #2RB - but next year with Rodgers and an enitre offseason of health and no Cook - I see top 5 again.

I've currently got him in 3 out of 7 lineups and the three I do it's more about the state of the other options then wanting to start him. I don't want to start him anywhere, not yet.
It was good to hear him start to vent a little about not getting enough touches. I'm sure the greasing will begin to some degree this week. I just don't like the idea of starting a RB who has been playing in the low 30% of snaps, only getting 16 and 17 total snaps a game on a dead offense.
His recovery is going as I expected and did not think he's start to take majority of the snaps for several weeks, but am expecting more at this point. Obviously did not expect the Rodgers injury and the prescence of a third RB getting so much playing time has been an unexpected drag.

NYJ does not have the coaching that ATL has to be as effective as ATL. Arthur Smith gets a bad rep in fantasy circles but he knows how to run the ball. I don't trust Hackett at all.

Probably not this week, but I really want to (have a lot of comparable options). Belichick is a big worry because I think he knows that Breece going bonkers is likely the only way the Pats lose.
We're all in a "wait and see" mode, myself included. We're all going to miss out on a big week as we wait and see. Whether or not, it's this one, who knows? But it could be.
Feels early for him to break out, but the Jets are 1-1 and I imagine really want to win this game. Unleashing Breece is likely their best option to do so. Last week was a throw away, imo. They were never winning that game, so no reason to put Breece into the hornets nest.
But again, it's Week 3, he's flashed more than we thought he would by now, and obviously wants more.
Jets leaning on him to try to beat their arch rival is not way outside the realm of possibilities.
