The Head Goon!
RB Brian Westbrook hasn't been able to practice this week and his status is still very much in the air. Use this thread to update his status as news breaks.
If this is the case and I would hope it is not, then all of this season, next season and his career and seriously in jeopardy. Do you have a link? Czarnecki better not be just guessing. For what its worth:FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki reports that Brian Westbrook will need microfracture surgery once the season is over.Westbrook is a game-time decision Sunday and will reportedly "try to play." But the news that he's delaying such a devastating surgery is ominous for fantasy owners. He may not quite be the same next year and it shows he's dealing with serious issues this season.Source: FoxSports.com
I definitely got the impression that was based purely on speculation and not on any new info. They were talking in general about the game and he said he expects Westbrook probably will play and he was not sure about Stallworth. I'm guessing nobody is going to know for sure until Westy goes out and warms up which is difficult for a lot of people if your only other viable options are playing at 1PM.nothing concrete, but Chris Berman just said "I expect Brian Westbrook will probably play today". He didn't indicate if that was just a guess or based on anything else.edit to get his quote right
Who is Czarnecki to make this diagnosis? Rascal that was my first thought when I looked at the article. It was just more hype about Owens coming back to Philly. But if you scroll down to where the article begins disscussing the games. The quote about Westy's knee and status for the game is in that section. Here is the copied section to help you find it: Dallas at Philadelphia, 4:15 p.m. ETWHAT TO WATCH FOR: Something is bound to give: the Eagles are converting 46 percent of their third downs, while the Cowboys are stopping opponents at the rate of 66.7 percent of the time on third downs. There is a good chance that Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (left knee) will try to play, although he apparently will need microfracture surgery, similar to what Carolina's DeShaun Foster underwent, once the season is over. Until being swept last year, Eagles coach Andy Reid had a 10-2 record against the Cowboys. Definitely dating himself and tired of the war clichés leading up to this game, Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said, "Hey, this is not Vietnam." The Cowboys love their chances if they can protect Drew Bledsoe, and if they can't, they hope their quarterback gets rid of the ball quickly. Eagles CB Lito Sheppard (high ankle sprain) will play for the first time after missing three games. WR Donte Stallworth is expected not to play.FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki reports that Brian Westbrook will need microfracture surgery once the season is over.Westbrook is a game-time decision Sunday and will reportedly "try to play." so, i'm reading this as: he's starting IF he can get through warmups, which means we won't know until around 3:00 - 3:30 PST. or, in other words, there is nothing more serious where we know he HAS to sit; if he doesn't go this week, then i'm sure there will be a lot of talk about surgery (but why waist 2 weeks already?!!?!?)WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Something is bound to give: the Eagles are converting 46 percent of their third downs, while the Cowboys are stopping opponents at the rate of 66.7 percent of the time on third downs.
