RB Carlos Hyde, JAC (1 Viewer)

Nathan Jahnke‏Verified account @PFF_NateJahnke 13h13 hours ago

Browns 1st half HB snap count in 3rd and medium/3rd and long/2 minute drill: Duke Johnson 14, Carlos Hyde 1, Nick Chubb 0

Browns 1st half HB snap count in the other situations: Carlos Hyde 19, Duke Johnson 5, Nick Chubb 1
I think if you combine Hyde and Duke you can get something that mimics Murray's 2016 production.

Posting reasonable low-end RB2 numbers up to now and a decent flex start both weeks. Not much chatter about him, another decent start this Thursday?

Was wondering the same, he’s sat on my bench so far but I’m pondering putting him in my flex over Collins. He’s getting the volume, you’d think an even bigger game is just around the corner

I like Hyde, but the reason he's been okay for fantasy is because he's had a 1 yd TD plunge each week. I hope they turn it around, but as long as they stick with Hue and Tyrod, it's hard to get excited about him IMO.

The Jets are bringing Adams, their best defensive back and safety, way up in the box consistently to:

  1. Generate a pass rush
  2. Stop the run
They might do that to Tyrod to make him beat them throwing the ball on a Thursday. But who really knows? I'm just spitballing. But if you're concerned about game script, that's a consideration.

Similar situation, considering starting him over Miller this week. Both doing similar things but Miller no tds and Hyde has one in each game. Short week, figure close and low-scoring games.

Good info, I have no insight into how the Jets are vs the run, just figured short week, often a lot of running (bit simplistic I know).

The problem is Tyrod just can’t move the ball. Hyde is TD dependent at this point. Could easily see 60 yards and a catch.
That's the other thing. He's not getting many catches either. One catch each game. I would love to see this guy grabbing 4-6 balls a game.

I think it auto corrected from sixty yards and a touch (but we'll never know).

Hyde for Bell brought an outright rejection and no counter nor note from the Conner-less Bell owner in my league, which I found...stupid, as he's 0-2 and in dead last in points. Whoops.

eta* Who did you want? Saquon for eight games? Uhm, no. No way. Here's my thought, from legendary hardcore artist Murphy's Law:

Sit home and rot

I wouldn't move Bell for Hyde. And I own both of them, albeit in a dynasty league. Either way, I wouldn't do that. Hyde's YPC is not great and Chubb is right there. The kid will get more and more opportunities if Hyde can't get on track. Whether he does anything with those opps, is not for me to say. But opportunity is key in the NFL and FFB.

Since these threads are where all Hyde owners pop in I hope this isn't too far out line. Trying to gauge his dynasty value...

I offered him to the rebuilding Chubb owner. Asked for Gronk. Didn't get a counter. What else would I have to throw in for an aging asset like Gronk to a rebuilding team? Or what kind of future pick do you think he can fetch right now?

And I guess this all changes in 12hrs.... Stupid Thursday football.

If he's rebuilding, why would he want Hyde when he already has Chubb?  Chubb is the future there, not Hyde.  Hyde might have a fantasy relevant timeline just as long as Gronk right now (2 years maybe), just not nearly as much value.

On a rebuilding team, I'd consider Hyde for Gronk to be an insult.  Basically you'd have to add the entire value of Gronk to get me to listen.

projections for tonight?  With question marks at other RBs/WRs playing on Sunday (Fournette - hammy; Fitz - hammy, , I might be forced into playing him tonight so I'm not left with zero options come Sunday afternoon.

I suspect he has a pretty good floor around 8pts in ppr with the chances of a td.  50 yards rushing, 20 receiving etc...

Not much then cross every limb and hope for a TD.  There hasn't been much room to run the first two weeks, the Jets are as tough up front as the Steelers/Saints, and Hyde is not one to create on his own.  If he's on his way towards another 22/62 or 16/43 performance I'd think his coach's patience may run out and Chubb will get some chances.  I think he needs to get out of the gate hot and there's just no good reason to expect that to happen.

Thanks, kinda what I'm thinking as well.  And still winless, the Browns may have a shorter leash than they otherwise would for Hyde.  Fingers crossed that my other "questionable" RBs/WRs play Sunday.

I won’t be surprised if Chubb becomes the starter sooner rather than later. An injury to Hyde or more meh performances should lead to Chubb getting touches. Chubb is a great buy low target, may run bonkers in the 2nd half. His talent level is is of a top tier level RB,  stash this guy

Pretty much the story of his entire career, no?

Thanks. I tend to overvalue my players. Especially when they were rookie picks.

I'm going with Brieda over Hyde tonight, just don't have a lot of confidence in this matchup.

As far as ROS outlook goes, I was under the impression his performance so far is more due to the o-line shuffling and breaking in the new LT. Outside of seeing his short TD runs on redzone, I have not been able to see how he looks this year. Any Browns fans or people who have watched the games out there with a take on how he looks? Or Chubb for that matter? It looks like Chubb has been only getting a handful of snaps per game so far.

No idea if this will have an impact, but:

According to a couple of team sources, #Browns RB Carlos Hyde is expecting the birth of his child any minute now. He’s expected to come straight to the stadium from hospital in time to play. I’m told labor was induced last night, so a potentially long & joyful day for the Hydes.

Will the "having a baby" become a positive extra incentive to perform well? So close to plugging him in with CLE D, but can't pull the trigger over the likes of Breida, Lynch, or T.Y.

I'm wondering about the opposite.  He wouldn't leave during the game, would he?  I assume he'd finish the game, then leave if the baby is born... right?

No idea, could go either way. He could be super motivated and have a big game, or he could be exhausted from spending all day/night at the hospital, have his mind elsewhere, and/or leave to go back to the hospital if he gets a phone call. Ugh.

NFL Network's Omar Ruiz reports Carlos Hyde is awaiting the birth of his child on Thursday evening but is expected to make it to FirstEnergy Stadium just before kickoff.

Aka, Hyde is going to have a police escort to the stadium. Hyde's significant other was reportedly induced last night, so it has been a long day for the Browns' feature back. As any new parent can attest, the adrenaline should be enough to get him through the game against the Jets. We are not adjusting his Week 3 rank.

Carlos Hyde rushed 23 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns in the Browns' Week 3 win over the Jets.

He added two receptions for five yards. Nearly all of Hyde's damage, including both his scores, came after Baker Mayfield checked in for Tyrod Taylor (concussion). The Browns' offense looked reborn with Mayfield under center, complicating the defense's thinking and freeing up running lanes. Hyde took advantage with his trademark power running. Hyde will be an upside RB2 for a tasty Week 4 matchup with the Raiders.

I tried hard to trade Hyde in 2 dyno leagues in July I couldn't get a box of rocks for him.  In 1 of my leagues someone traded Hyde and a future 2nd for a current 2nd......basically gave him away for free.

Man this one stings. Good to see him running hard though. Should have more opportunities with Mayfield in there, definitely feel better about ROS outlook after tonight.

Wow. Of course he is the one RB in my corps that I'd decided I def wasn't starting this week. He'll probably outscore all the others. Could be a great time to sell high.

Disagree, now is the time to buy or hold. Competent QB play is so important to RB success, especially a back like Hyde. If Baker can get them in positive game scripts they will run Hyde into the ground. He has 21.7 touches per the last three games. Good luck finding that in a return.

You’re correct, I hadn’t thought about the Baker angle. The game is through the night in Scotland so only had a quick look at the box scores up to this point

Def hold for me. Leads the NFL in every basic stat going into the weekend (ATT, Yards, TDs.)

I waited until the 8th round to pickup my RB2 - he was the 30th RB taken, so half the league had their RB3. I was the last team to draft an RB2. In our full PPR redraft he's the ideal RB2 (I took 4 WRs the first 5 rounds) - low cost, unsexy, no hype, high volume, consistent production. Pre-draft that made sense - DJJ would get all the third down work, big name rookie behind him. It's really weird Johnson isn't being used like he has in past seasons - I saw parts of two Browns PS games and he looked explosive on a couple receptions. Chubb I am not surprised about; he was never the same guy his last two years in college after the knee injury and is not a special player

Absolutely no interest in moving him.

Well, that’s wildly misleading given that he’s played 50% more games than everyone else. But I get holding him.
Fair. But before last nights game he was 3rd in ATT (1 behind the league leaders Gurley & Conner.) Pretty good value for the RB24 in preseason ADP.

Like I said earlier, I tried to trade him for Bell straight up and got rejected.

Bet the 0-2 owner feels a bit foolish now, also having had started Chubb.

Good work, fella.

Hyde is a definite hold. I still have always liked him as a runner and have targeted him in drafts at his low ADP for the very reason that he seems to win his job and do it every year.

Is this schtick or do you really think that was a good offer? It wasn’t.

Ah, okay.  I see. It's pure redraft.

If I'm the Bell owner, I at least counteroffer.

He went for Hyde in other leagues. We were discussing it. People are overvaluing Bell, especially if they don't have Conner and their other main running back is Freeman, like this guy. He started Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson last night.

Figure out season projections on that and get back to me, JWB.

This guy is averaging 66 points a game and is in last by 80 points in a standard Yahoo! league.

I'm not sure you exactly know what you're saying here.

Hyde is now averaging 15 points standard per game. Bell is averaging 0.
