RB Carson Steele, KC (1 Viewer)

Hayden Winks
Carson Steele will be the goal line back. Samaje Perine will handle all passing down reps, and this will be a frustrating 1-2 punch, while the Chiefs go full pass first offense moving forward without Pacheco. Both open up as deeper flex plays in Week 3.

I'm torn on whether Steele is worth the FAAB it will take to get him. I drafted him with my last pick in every league, and got him in dynasty as well. Loved the fire and power he showed in preseason. But thus far in the regular season, he hasn't shown that ability to flash and just hulk through defenders. Without that, he doesn't offer a lot that any other back doesn't already do. He's not fast. He's not agile. He's not a great pass catcher.

He's really just... big. And I don't think that's going to be enough to offer much more than a weekly flex option, especially not getting the every down role.

We've seen time and time again that the real value play in the Chiefs backfield is the guy who's getting the targets from Mahomes. That was McKinnon for a time. It's looking like it might be Perine now.

But if I had to offer my best guess, I'd say the Chiefs will bring someone in. Whether it's a journeyman vet like Hunt or Fournette or it's someone's backup via trade, I don't know. But I doubt it's going to be Steele that gets the valuable touches. He just doesn't look ready.

I already blew a wad on Wilson last week for just a one week start. Fool me once.....
Surely Jeff Wilson has fooled the fantasy community more than once. Maybe this is just *your* first time.

Seems like an obvious bid a lot of FAAB on target. Perine is a proven JAG, the QB of the offense is Mahomes. There should be ample scoring opportunity. The question to me really is "Do I need a RB3/4 guy?" and its definitely roster dependent, IMO. But If he has a chance to crack your lineup, I say go for it.

Samaje has 0 carries on the year. Carson Steele it is!! Give me them goalline carries in that offense.

OM NOM NOM. I'll gladly blow my #1 waiver priority on this guy. I need another RB while I wait for Jonathan Brooks to clear waivers.

What's the feeling on this? Anyone think he steps up to the challenge and takes the job with Hunt and Perine nipping at his heels?

More end around / Jet sweep / creative play for OC to utilize the many weapons at his arsenal!!
I wager even Wiley & Gray get some carries!!

starting him in my 18 deep league tempted to start Braelon Allen over him could regret it hopefully not. Don't think KC needs a reveiving RB anymore like in the past now with Worthy added and Rice another year experience.

#Chiefs OC Matt Nagy says that there's a lot of confidence in RB Carson Steele.

He adds, 'He's probably as ready as he could possibly be for being a young rookie player in this position.'

Down to him or Akers flip flopping
I don’t want to be held responsible for your fantasy results, but Akers is the clear play there off volume alone. MN DEF has looked good but Cam may touch the ball 20-25 times given the lack of competition.

Steele could prove himself to be THE GUY, but we just don’t know how the splits shake out, and the leash is ridiculously short.

As the new lead back for the #Chiefs and the most sought after fantasy football free agent add this week, I’m excited for people to get to know Carson Steele.

As the new starter, Steele has:
-Burst to finish in open field (🎥1️⃣)
-Toughness/contact balance (🎥2️⃣)
-Receiving ability (🎥3️⃣ from @ShrineBowl)

Fully expect him to rise to the occasion (and be the team’s #1 RB until Pacheco is able to return)

Advanced/Fantasy relevant stats ⬇️ too

Some advanced stats from Carson Steele’s 2023 season at UCLA (per @PFF_College)

-3.9 Yards after contact per attempt, same as Jonathan Brooks, Marshawn Lloyd and Bucky Irving

-76.6% of his rushing yards were after contact, most of any rookie RB on an NFL roster this year

-11 first downs on 17 receptions out of the backfield

Starting with confidence. People are saying he's not fast enough or doesn't fit the offense as a bellcow back.

You guys should tell the 4-time Super Bowl champion coach that he picked the wrong backup RB.

That's the biggest kryptonite of fantasy managers, thinking we're smarter than coaches who make millions to coach actual football.

Andy Reid is going for a three peat, okay? If he says Carson Steele is an NFL quality runningback, then you should probably believe him. I'm just saying... this is the guy who supplanted the first round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire with a 7th Rounder Isiah Pacheco.

He knows what he's doing.

Dare and British Brooks have looked solid as well but going with Akers. Hope both do well.

It's just crazy to me that people are questioning the scouting and roster management of the team that has:

Been in 4 of the last 5 Super Bowls.
Won 3 of the last 5 Super Bowls.

Sure! You guys scout better than them, they don't know what they're doing. Steele stinks!!
