RB Chase Brown, CIN (1 Viewer)

Well I did say "if". Too bad Cincinnati doesn't have the QB or WRs to pull it off.
Well until we know if Jamarr is going to be on the field, they kinda don't.
Wasn’t there a WR who held out until the last min a few years back and fell in ADP to the end of the 1st/early 2nd then had a monster season?

Trying to remember who that was…

I expect the Bengals to get something done. It’s kinda dumb they haven’t yet.

Michael Thomas?

I'm sure it's happened. That's why I keep buying up everything the Franklin Mint is selling.

Michael Thomas?
Maybe - might have actually been Zeke in his prime.
I know you're new here, but Zeke is a running back.
And Zeke's production has dropped every single year.

He had a very nice year, when he signed his last contract with Dallas, 1,777 total yards and 14 TDs. I believe there was a long hold out too.

But, RBs <> WRs and the Cowboys still had a dominant O-line in 2019.

Yeah, that was the one I was thinking of. I passed on Zeke and kicked myself all year for it. Dude who got him at 11 won the league.

That is interesting though in terms of the DET/MIA comps.

DET/MIA both have prolific QB's (Goff/Tua)
DET/MIA both have Top 5 WR1's (ARSB/Cheetah)
DET/MIA both have Top 10 RB's (Jahmyr/Achane) even though both might be considered change of pace options rather than the '55' of the 55/45 split.

...CIN certainly has the personnel to pull something like this off...I think it's really a matter of 'can Moss/Brown measure up'? It really doesn't need to necessarily be an either/or proposition.

Bengals OC Dan Pitcher on RB Chase Brown: "Chase Brown is building himself into an all-around player. Currently, he’s a very explosive football player. Chase Brown is one of the fastest backs in the league. I think you’ll see that on display."

Sadly might be one of my first drops to grab another up and comer RB.

Bengals offense looks putrid, and as others have stated in here, Moss seems to be the lead back.

I'm holding on to Brown atm. The Bengals O was a mess last week so who knows what the plan is for the RBS if everything is ticking.

Definitely disappointing see the usage week 1 though.

@RaidersAreOne gets it. Of course hold on to Brown right now. Panic dropping Brown is a mistake. You will see his usage increase going forward IMO and he has the skills to succeed. The Bengals had a bad week for sure, but to panic drop after one week is dumb.

Womp Womp- definitely still see him as a PPR dynamo but the Bengals looked like dogshit week 1 (as usual.) expect better week 2 but certainly a hold ROS

In standard or 0.5 PPR leagues is Brown still a hold with Bigsby, White, Chandler, Edwards etc as FAs? Brown's value seems higher in PPR unless he really starts to eat into Moss' snap count.

I agree for the most part, but depending on what else is on the wire he hardly seems like a must hold league winner lottery ticket.

For me, the biggest concern was during this last game against the Patriots the game script was exactly what most people who like Chase Brown were hoping for. Playing catch up, passing the ball, 4 and 2 minute offense. But he didn't seem like he was a part of any of those packages. This is the guy who's supposed to catch the most passes out of the backfield and he was out targeted by Zack Moss.

It's week one and all, but that's not the best start.

Did not see you post this until just now but I had read it the day it came out and that was the day I stopped drafting Chase Brown.

I kind of compare it to a food I've tried for the first time and didn't like it. I always give it a second try before making my mind up.

Why is that? Is Pitcher known for bad coachspeak?

Not sure if you clicked on that link but if you do you see that tweet is a followup tweet to what Pitcher says about Zach Moss.

He refers to Moss as an all-around player and as you can see refers to Chase Brown as an explosive guy building himself into being an all-around player. In short one of these RB's is an all around player and it's not Brown. What I took that mean to was that Moss was most likely the primary RB and Chase Brown was most likely the COP explosive guy.

I agree.

Unless you can get a nice A5 Wagyu porterhouse, in which case to hell with that other meal.

What are everyone's thoughts on Brown? Still holding strong?
More like the way DiCaprio did with that door in The Titanic but I'm holding for two reasons.

The easy reason is that any RB who is the next man up, has degree of upside in event of an injury, is rostered in all of my leagues.

And secondly he did look explosive this past Sunday. Now that's the best part of his game so no surprise and even when he'd break off chunk runs they could not wait to sit him down but he just looked so much more explosive then Moss that I think there is a world that whatever led the staff to sour on him, put him in the doghouse, not trust him or whatever he improves on or they learn to live with it to get his explosive ability on the field. I'm not counting on this btw, but a chance.

I reached for him. They need to play better and I’m hoping Brown helps that over the course of the next few weeks. Moss is still Moss.

It really comes down to what are you thinking of dropping him for? He hasn't shown much but has a path to being relevant. He has shown he can be productive and just needs the opportunity. It would take someone of equal/more upside for me to drop him.
I'd be looking at dropping him for Carr (I have Daniels). At RB I already have JT, Achane, Robinson Jr, Allgeier, Bigsby and Braelon Allen.

At some point the Bengals are going to have to stop playing dumb and letting Zach Moss truck up the middle for 3 yards. If they go 0-3 I would imagine their split gets closer to 50/50. Than it's really up to him to do the most with his opportunities and start to take over.

In that case,...........no, I would not drop Brown for Carr

2024:

Moss
RUSH 21/78 (3.7ypc), 1TD
REC 3/30, 0TD

Brown
RUSH 7/42 (6.0ypc), 0TD
REC 3/12

Not all carries are equal, but man...there is a stark difference when watching them play. Brown is so much more explosive.

I predict that this will move closer to a time share, but never what us Brown owners were hoping for barring injury.
