Do we know for sure Fason is the primary back now? I'm a little worried about the Tuse splitting carries.
Nope. This is Coach Childress we are talking about. The song "Mind Games" come to mind......BUT supposedly he is a BIG CF fan. I'm pretty sure Coach Childress is looking for some speed out of the position. I'm rolling with Fason as my 3rd RB and not looking back (assuming we get confirmation before gametime).GO FASON! GO GATORS!

Rotowire quoted fox sports, Taylor might play:

Chester Taylor (ribs) might play Sunday if he takes a painkiller.

We're not confident he'll finish the game even if he starts it. Ciatrick Fason has a good chance to wind up with the most carries, especially near the goal line where there are more bodies flying around and Taylor could take more shots to the ribs. Taylor is a high-risk fantasy play. Source: FOXSports.com

Guess we are going to have to wait a bit. But Im not so sure on that report. It comes out of this on fox sports where it is mentioned last night in a blurb about the game. Still cause for concern.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: It looks like the Vikings are sticking with QB Brad Johnson, who had four interceptions last week against the Bears, and elevating rookie Tarvaris Jackson to backup status. RB Chester Taylor (ribs) will play if he can deal with the pain; he may have to take a painkiller. Ciatrick Faison will start if Taylor pulls himself from the starting lineup.

That's pretty much what we heard most of the week on this isn't it?

Thx, Rovers. Also,is 1050 now running the 2nd hour of Fantasy Focus or were you listening via computer; I've been turning it off at 8am because they've been pre-empting with local programming.

I think the painkiller blurb is assumption. I have heard NO spokesman for the team or the player say that. Just that CT would have to make the decision and that he knew what that would mean.

When the Jets play @4pm, they don't pre-empt the Fantasy show, on a side note, is it avail online? I tried surfing around ESPNradio.com to no avail.

Thx. Good to know. In the Summer, before the season started, they had a golf show with Mark Canazzaro (sp?) :( I've listened couple of times via espnradio.com, but not recently. When it is on, it should be in the spot where "The Huddle" is showing up right now under Listen Live.http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/index

I'm leaning towards not trusting a Fason start at this time.If Taylor is inactive, I will go back to him.

Sorry folks.... just posting on reports I've heard. I'm very interested in this as well.... it's Furrey or Chester as my flex. I'm sticking with Furrey for now, especially because Chester has left at least 2 games... might be 3 games this year early when he got dinged up. I think both Chester and Fason are risky starts as of now.

Today's Fantasy Focus (requires Insider):

Will Carroll said, and I quote, Chester Taylor is "definitely out for today. They have elected to go with Fason as the starter. The ribs just not able to handle the load. They're worried that if he took a hit, and you know how hard those hits can be, he would be set back, and they're still looking to the playoffs... He's definitely out this week."

Ironic. Two weeks ago I was wondering whether Fason would ever play; this week I'm subbing him in for Maroney.

People starting Fason should proceed with caution. He could definitely have a good game, I'm not doubting the possibility. But keep in mind, Fason is a north-south banger and isn't the 3rd-down guy. IF, Martz is successful in carving up a horrid Vikings pass defense, the Vikings could be behind on the scoreboard for much of this game. If that scenario plays out, Mewelde Moore will be seeing a lot more of the field than Fason.

Just be aware that starting Fason in your FF lineup to some degree is taking a gamble that the Vikings won't fall behind against the Lions. Looks good on paper, but be forewarned.

Good point. Although the best way to slow down an opponent's offense is to run the ball and eat up the clock. Plus, I think most of us are looking at Fason as a 2 RB and at this point in the season most teams 2 RBs are crap shoots as well. Due to injuries my alternatives for my 2nd RB are Edge, Sammy Morris or Justin Fargus. Might as well take a chance of Fason...

Trying to make the choice between Bush and Fason. Love CF's matchup and starter status but hate to pin playoff hopes on an unknown. Leaning towards Fason.

NOT A WDIS: I could go McGahee, Bush or Fason. Right now I'm going with Bush despite the tough matchup. Wanted to start McGahee, but the late start is killing me. I think it's pretty much a toss up between those three guys given each situations, but I'm going with Bush and praying for a receiving TD.

same thing could have been said about chester if he were playing today.

Not really. Chester Taylor averages about 7 yards per rec. Fason can't be compared to Taylor in this phase of the game, and Mewelde is far superior to Fason in this respect. The Vikings run a 'dink and dump' offense, and Moore gives them the closest thing to emulating Taylor's multi-purpose utility. Fason doesn't give Brad Johnson the outlet he's used to with Taylor and Moore.

I would not put that much faith in Fason. If he sputters, who's to say Moore doesn't replace him?
Taylor ran for over 120 yards and received more than 30 yards against the Lions in week 5. I'm not concerned about sputtering.
