SO LONG: With the drafting of Chris Henry in the second round on Saturday to accompany LenDale White, the agent for veteran Chris Brown says it is time for his client to move on.

Brown had originally considered returning to Tennessee as one of his options, even though he fell to third on the depth chart last year behind the now-departed Travis Henry and White.

“We never want to close the door on any possibilities, but I don’t believe we will be returning to Tennessee now,” agent Ryan Morgan said.

Morgan declined to say what teams are interested in Brown, but did say that the process is close to being finished.

Rumors circulated over the weekend that the New England Patriots might be interested in Brown to backup Lawrence Maroney.

That's a crap thread title, dude.

Unless I am missing the news in there about how he is close to signing with new England.

[Rumors are also flying that Brown will end up in Indy (to backup Addai) or in KC (in case LJ holds out or to back him up).

Mike Reiss reported the Pats having interest in Brown last week:

Consider that as recently as this week, the Patriots have continued to explore the free agent market, making preliminary contact with running back Chris Brown, who could be insurance if Laurence Maroney experiences a setback while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

Wasnt sammy morris enough?Damn I hate the Patriots.

I'm surprised GB doesn't take a flier on him...

...and Denver just released Cobbs I believe.

The Patriots are the new Redskins! :lmao:
Players take more money and wind up in Washington.Players take less money and wind up in New England.
OLD players on their way out of the league who want that last pay day before they retire take more money and wind up in Washington.Players who are going to play hard and take a chance at winning a championship take less money and wind up in New England.

As a C.Brown owner, I find the whole situation to be very frustrating. The dude's got great talent. Didn't he set a record with 3 consecutive 100-yard games in his first 3 career starts? The biggest knock is obviously his habit of getting hurt and/or not playing through injury, but I feel like the Titans just completely threw him under the bus. He put up pretty good numbers when given the opportunity, and I can't understand why no team would be interested in giving him a shot.

Agreed...and though GB should have a while ago...now is an ever better time as he has to be as cheap as ever. They have the cap space, he should be as healthy as he is ever going to be...and in an RBBC, he might actually stay somewhat healthy.

Going into last year, I really thought Lendale White would be a good NFL RB. Hopefully he will step away from the buffet and get his ### ready to go this season. He seems to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder which is always good. He did okay on his opportunities last year, but he will have to step it up now.

I feel the same way. I was surprised to see Denver lay off him.But hey, I bust other FBGs balls using this line "I guess NFL GMs know more than you." So fair play has brought it around to me!

I don't believe that NFL GM's are always right, though. Look at what happened with Scott Norwood. Because of one kick he went from being a good kicker on a championship caliber team to unemployed, and never given another tryout. Ridiculous. Brown's a good RB. He's done nothing that would suggest he'd outright fail on another team. He's had injury problems, but he's healthy now.

I think his greatest enemy is the deep pool of talent at his position generally in the NFL at the moment. Every team seems like it's two deep with at least decent NFL talent or prospects. It's just bizarre that a guy who is as explosive as he is doesn't seem to be getting a hard look from teams.

I am purely specualting here, but I think once it became apparent to Brown that no one was going to hand him a starting job, they decided to wait till after the draft.

Step back, let the teams fill out their backfields, then assess and pick the best situation.

The guy has NFL talent, he's going to have a job, I am quite sure he could already be signed. I don't think it's a matter of teams not giving him a chance, it's that I don't think teams have given him the chance he wants.

If he had signed in Buffalo two monhs ago, everyone would ahve been happy, but if they had then drafted Lynch and Wright, it would have been all:

I'm preaching patience with this guy. Who knows, maybe he waits for the first torn ACL of the summer.

I see Brown as a back up the rest his career. He just cannot stay healthy. I own him in 4 dynasty leagues and I will be trying to trade him for something.

As do I.But I think the value for Brown lies in holding onto him. His value has sunk so low, you won't get the offers you're looking for. The value lies in the hopes he'll ressurrect his career.Consider him a flier/sleeper should he end up in a good situation. Then you'll get a little better return on your investment.

You do have to hold onto a guy like this. You never know, look at a RB like Henry. If he ends up in NE I will try to trade him to the Maroney owner for a young WR or 2nd round rookie pick.

Ironically, I once owned Henry as Brown's backup! And you're right... should he go to a team like NE (for example), you might be able to fetch a 3rd from a nervous Maroney owner. If you get a 2nd, you should be put in jail!

Brown is not a feature RB because he is brittle, but he could be a very good 8-10 carry guy.

Problem is, the first torn ACL of the summer is most likely his own.
