I have Hunt in over Carson. Eagles are good against the run and I worry there will be more Hyde in this game than expected. I also have Chubb so I am locking down the Browns backfield

Well so far it looks like you are right.

Looks like he is definitely on a tight snap count. End of the 1st and Hyde 5 carries to Carson’s 2.
And Hyde in the majority of the snaps.

Chris Carson rushed eight times for 41 yards and one touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 12 win over the Seahawks.

He reeled in both of his pass-game targets for 18 additional yards. Making his return from a foot injury that had him sidelined since Week 7, Carson was out-carried 15-8 by Carlos Hyde, but Carson out-gained him 41-22 and scored a bulldozing 16-yard touchdown in the second quarter where he ran through several defenders to the end zone. Carson is very clearly the better back of the two and hopefully was just being eased back in off an injury. He should be out-carrying Hyde every week and gets a date with the Giants as an RB2 in Week 13.

Coach Pete Carroll has said he expects Carson to suit up against the Giants on Sunday afternoon. Carlos Hyde (toe) was downgraded to "DNP" on Thursday, clouding his Week 13 status. A locked-in RB2, Carson would be more of an RB1 if Hyde can't go.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Chris Carson (foot) and Carlos Hyde (toe) will play in Week 13 against the Giants. 

There were serious questions about Hyde's availability since he was downgraded to a DNP on Thursday. He'll suit up this week, according to Carroll, taking some of the sine off Carson. Hyde out-snapped and out-touched Carson in Week 12, though the team may have wanted to ease Carson back into the lineup after an extended layoff. Carroll said he expects Carson to get more run in Week 13. He's a must-play for fantasy managers.

Two days ago coach Pete Carroll said Carson still is not 100 percent healthy from the foot injury that kept him out for much of the November slate. Carson was able to handle 16 touches in Week 13 and could see 20-plus in a prime matchup against the Jets on Sunday.

Carson will probably remain "limited" the rest of the season. His Week 14 status is not in doubt against the Jets. With the Seahawks operating as two-touchdown home favorites, expect Carson to get "established" after totaling 21 carries between Weeks 12 and 13. He's an RB1 for the first week of the fantasy playoffs.

Chris Carson rushed 11 times for 44 yards in Seattle's Week 17 win against the 49ers.

There were rumors Carson would cede the lion's share of touches to Rashaad Penny with nothing to play for, but the former ended up being used more than expected after Penny suffered cramps in the second half. Alex Collins (5/29/1) actually scored the only touchdown among this group. Even so, Carlos Hyde is expected to return in the Wild Card round and backup Carson exclusively. The latter will be the player to roster for any postseason fantasy contests.

Chris Carson rushed 16 times for 77 yards in the Seahawks' Wild Card loss to the Rams, adding a five-yard reception. 

It caps a weird year for Carson, who was limited to 12 games by a foot injury. Despite a much greater run-game commitment from the Seahawks in the second half of the season, Carson never reached 20 carries or 100 yards on the ground, often ceding a non-trivial amount of work to Carlos Hyde. He did average a healthy 4.8 yards per carry behind a solid run-blocking line. Headed into his age-27 campaign, Carson will be a free agent after playing out his rookie contract. Yet to have a 16-game season thanks in part to his battering ram running style, it's possible Carson and the Seahawks can't find the right price, though run-obsessed coach Pete Carroll will be more inclined than others to bring Carson back.

The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar reports the Seahawks are unlikely to re-sign Chris Carson this offseason. 

Dugar said the $8 million salary floor that the franchise tag unofficially sets means Carson "is unlikely to take a deal averaging less than that on a long-term extension." He predicts "Seattle is unlikely to spend any more than that on a long-term deal, meaning Carson will be running through defenders for another team in 2021." There's almost no chance Carson -- whose rookie deal expired after the 2020 season -- doesn't cash in with a team willing to pay him. Carson's departure could compel the run-establishing Pete Carroll to take a running back in this spring's NFL Draft. Dugar said he "would be surprising if Carroll spent big on a running back" in free agency. Rashaad Penny, entering his age-25 season and signed through 2021, could conceivably get a crack at the team's starting gig if Carson signs elsewhere. Second-year back DeeJay Dallas struggled mightily in a couple 2020 spot starts and would probably profile as the team's RB2 or RB3 headed into 2021.

IMO almost anywhere is an upgrade for Carson fantasy-wise due to the way Carroll used him.

Agreed - and while Penny has shown flashes, Carroll loves him some RBBC/hot hand. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them re-sign Hyde on the cheap & run out a Penny/Hyde 1-2 mixing in Homer & DJ Dallas here and there.

Maybe it’s more wishful thinking but I’d guess they draft a RB with early round 2 pick rather than sign one. I could be totally wrong on that and I agree Carson would fit what I think will be the new offense.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Seahawks will not franchise tag RB Chris Carson, making him a free agent. 

Running backs are infrequent tag recipients, but you never know in Seattle. Carson would have netted $8.68 million under the tag. One of the top backs atop a soft running back market, Carson could get priced out of even run-happy Seattle's range. The 26-year-old's injury history is his big red flag as he heads to the open market.

Harris truthers may now begin sharpening their seppuku blades.

I’m not a huge fan of the move, though I can see Carson as a good comp to Corey Dillon with his power & speed. Maybe Harris assumes the White role?

I think so as well and solid deal for SEA, basically 2/14 with a voidable third year but basically $7M a year for two years. By far best money he's ever made, probably deserves more but good for him to get a big payday.

I’m thinking he’s a 3rd down/breather back/insurance policy. If they were that confident in Penny, they wouldn’t have brought Carson back.

I agree. Paying Carson says a lot about how they view him and Penny at the same time.

Carson fits their scheme. Their offense suffers when he's out. If he's healthy he will continue getting 20 touches and heavy goal line usage. His carries did drop a bit last year when Wilson was slinging it but he also caught more passes including a few touchdowns.

Chris Carson said he and Rashaad Penny "can be one of the top rushing duos in the league."

The caveat, as Carson said in a recent interview, was whether the backs can stay healthy through an entire season. “We both bring different things to the game, different attributes, but we complement each other so well," Carson said. "I just feel like his limit is ridiculous once [Penny] starts getting his feet wet in the game. I think it’ll be something special.” Penny was among the Seahawks who coaxed Carson to return to Seattle after brief flirtations with other teams during free agency. Carson in March signed a two-year deal with the Seahawks; he'll resume his duties as the team's presumed starter in 2021. Penny, now 25, was Seattle's first round draft pick in 2018 and has since been plagued by injuries, including a horrific 2019 knee injury. A healthy Penny profiles as a third-down back who could sap some of Carson's fantasy appeal in 2021. Meanwhile, Carson, 26, has missed 21 games over his four year career. Though he isn't a lock to take on three-down duties should Carson miss time this season, Penny looks to be a reasonable target for Zero RB adherents.

Penny has been a bad first round pick and probably one of the examples or reason teams draft RBs later now.

That said as long as they remain patient with him he's certainly a threat to Carson's FF value. It seems like each year people lower their expectations on Penny but...no team is drafting a third down back in the first. He could spell Carson on third down but he's the full package. X amount of games and production and Carson owners will need to be concerned

I've had Carson on my dynasty team since his rookie year and every year since Penny came into the league we've been warned CC is going to lose his starting job. Hasn't happened yet. If you don't go RB-RB in redrafts you can still get Carson in the 3rd and get high end RB2/low end RB1 production then grab Penny in the 13th.

I was looking at 2020 consistency rankings today, and CC was above the baseline of 15.65 (full ppr) for RB1 50% of the time (6/12) and above the baseline of 23.84 for Elite 16.67% (2/12.) In the former category only 7 RBs were better last year - Kamara, Cook, Chubb, Henry, Ekeler, A. Jones, and Montgomery. In the latter (min. 10 GP) he was 9th, behind Cook, Montgomery, Chubb, Kamara, Henry, J. Robinson, Ekeler, and J. Wilson.

For this site he is RB18 in projections and RB18 in rankings. That's in line with his Expert Consensus Ranking of RB19 in redrafts. Once again should represent a very good value, though of course maybe his perceived health/availability is baked into those rankings. He's played 14/15/12 G in the last 3 seasons.

Owned him last year and I'll be targeting him again. Pretty consistent producer.

Looking forward to seeing the new scheme. I think Carson finally puts it all together this year. I believe they will try to spread the carries around a little more to keep him fresh but that should help with his longevity and the grind of a 17 game season. With obvious health, easy Top 10 on the strength of double digit touchdowns.

Chris Carson (neck) is practicing in full for Week 1 against the Colts.

Not the injury you want to see a football player listed with, but the fact that Carson is practicing in full means the Seahawks are not concerned. Carson's violent running style lends itself to injury, but he will be a high-floor RB2 for however long he can stay out there for the Seahawks, including this weekend in Indy.
