RB Derrick Henry, BAL (2 Viewers)

I have Henry on some pretty important teams that stand to win a ton of money this week... so......... 🙏🙏🙏????

'Cause  I believed early on, powered through the crap games, and other players kept me alive... not he's the X Factor, so please!

Obv all in good fun, but damn I hope he crushes it this week and you guys dominate.
Haha thanks brother.  I hope he leads you to the money🍻

I just saw that Henry set a record for the mos yards in a 2 game span. The record once being held by Earl Campbell.

Fresh legs and all that. I saw some replays of Henrys runs, on one of them he delivers two stiff arms that effectively blocks two defenders himself.
Most yards for the Titans/Oilers over two games.

He is fun to watch when he gets rolling.

The shift is from hybrid zone to zone back to hybrid zone.

In my words, they'll block all fancy and be concerned with the angles of the shoulders but sometimes they're just gonna man up and fight ya
And the switch back to hybrid zone coinciding with Derrick Henry starting to rumble

Rumblin' Der?

So as hot as he's been, would anyone else consider starting him over Lindsay or Fournette? Lindsay has a great matchup but man 11 TDs in 8 games and these last 2 weeks...hard to ignore and the Redskins aren't playing quite as well against the run as they did earlier in the year....

11 tds in 8 games
Love him but 6 in the last 2 games, 5 in 8 others. Both prorate well but one prorates a heckuva lot better.  Really he scored 8 in 3 games but you have to figure a couple multi-TD games would be the norm.

Either way it's great to see him blowing up like this.

Mariota and Henry selected as alternates to Pro Bowl.

Pretty ridiculous choice, in Henry's case, unless we only care about the last two weeks. Not his fault as he was being underutilized and misused entirely, but two great weeks should not an alternate pro bowler make.

that's kind of silly, takes away from their ranking system IMO, two great games shouldn't leap frog you
I definitely think it's too high. Hunt, Saquan, Gurley, Gordon....several come to mind before him for the season.

I wouldn't change their system though. Henry has broken a ton of tackles. I've heard several announcers say it was the same way in college- defenders always wrap up and then see big Henry and for some insane reason, they go high. His yards after contact should be high, per run. And I think it carries into efficiency stuff. Per this and per that, he would rank highly. Yes, it exposes a lack of weight to the total stats but this has proven to be good for years. I would just consider Henry an outlier and not change it.

Receiving- he has no business being in this category this year. (I do think he is sorely underrated) Saquan has ridiculous receiving stats and...as you can see, I could begrudgingly roll with runner stats as an outlier but running back (the combo, even maybe a pass pro grade) I really can't see how it's possible

So... have the Titans figured out how to utilize Henry and now his outlook for 2019 is completely changed?
It appears Vrabel has had them just man up some plays and block like the beasts they are. Skip the fancy stuff and just go be beasts. This has brought back the look of them being a top line in 2016. Lewan is having some incredible games and Spain (next to him) is probably having some of the best games as a G too. The regularity with which they are in the second level and even getting back to the runner is wow. Lewis had a few huge holes the last couple weeks. Ya know how he has that ability to scoot and dash by a defender? He just went straight ahead and after so many tough carries this year, he almost looked confused in a too good to be true manner.

They're expected to change 2-4 linemen this offseason.

The OC may or may not be back, he wants a zone scheme and these aren't the guys for it. To me, that means you let him walk and get someone that can coach a power run scheme and whatever utilizes Mariota's athleticism in the passing game. Still....ya can't discard a potential major OL overhaul

Mariota only has a couple special weeks too.  He has way too many games with under 200 yards.

I think this shows the respect of their peers but they change pro bowl voting and I just don't follow up with how they do it each year. I know all Titans were low in the fan voting aspect

Looking at efficiency stats

Henry is #1 in "yards created" and #2 in avg front of 7.3 #1 in evaded tackles.  I'm not seeing too many where he is the best otherwise

How so? He was being underutilized and misused...until the last two weeks. Which isn't enough for any type of pro bowl consideration
He was not being underutlized or misused in the least, he was getting the amount of carries his performance dictated. Acting as if he was underused before he earned more work is no different then asking pro bowl voters to also ignore all but the last two weeks of the season.

No he was absolutely being poorly utilized by the coaching staff, maybe one of the worst examples that I have seen in recent years at the pro level. They have a 245 lb wrecking ball with home run speed, yet kept him under glass until the season was almost lost. He didn't earn more work, the coaching staff was just bad at their job. It happens. They learned and now everyone can see what was obvious to many in this thread all along. Just let the big guy eat and good things will happen.

Maybe to many in this thread  but according to Henry the "whole world" knew he needed to play better.  That's what he said after he had just criticized his own performance for the 4th straight week earlier this season. Not his usage, him.

I'm not looking to be the "dilly dilly" man in this thread and argue with the many, I just don't think anything in his play for most of the season suggested he was underutilized. I think I could go with he had started to look better a few weeks ago and they were a little late to turn to him but I'm talking about like 2 weeks sooner, not most of the season.  I don't anticipate I"m going to change many minds for those who will continue to feel he was underutilized all year and that's cool, I would just say I was actually surprised people felt this way, less yet what you are telling me is the majority.

I'm in agreement with the fact he was being poorly utilized. But definitely not under utilized. That being said, who are you benching in favor of derrick henry?

I'm in the "time to come back to earth" line of thinking but I'm starting to think there's one more special game coming.

The Redskins allow 5.06 and 5.42 at the left end and left tackle. Right guard 6.64 and right end 5.39.

This very strongly supports the Titans. Lewan (comments previous), Kelly has been a supersub, and LaFleur has been insistent on running often at the RG all year despite meh success.

Also though, keep in mind, ADP will eat up a lot of clock if he can and the Titans have been speaking about how they need to be more balanced. (pass/run)

I think it's there if they want to push the envelope and see if the line (and Henry) had another stellar game in them, but ..I just think three special games in a row is too much to ask

Anyone not starting him? I'd kill myself if he throws a stinker in and my benched Fournette went off.
I originally pushed Fournette down to flex and put Henry in my RB2 spot. Then I benched Fournette for Samuels in the flex. I’m a Jags fan, but there’s just so much uncertainty, it’s tough to start him in a championship. If the o-line wasn’t patchwork, or if they were playing with any fire, I’d feel differently, but I feel the floor is too low and the bust potential is too high.

I like Henry to have another good week. It might not be gigantic, but I like his chances at 70-80 and a score. The Titans aren’t “explosive,” so I think they will have enough red zone scoring opportunities against WAS that Henry will get his.

I am not starting Henry in my Championship game this weekend. It hurts not to, but we can only start 2 RBs and I am starting D Cook & Mixon. I have thought all week, and I keep coming up with Cook & Mixon over Henry. Wish I could start 3 RBs, but those are our rules.

Circumstances are forcing me to start Henry (and Chubb) over Gurley.  It’s killing me that it has come to this but my 4th option (Ingram) has too much downside risk to pass on starting Henry.

Stupid Saturday games
