RB Getting The Least Love.... (1 Viewer)

Seen him last into 6th round is some drafts

been ranked as high as 28th best RB this week on some sites

I don't know, nut I think that Donald Brown breathing down his neck will bring out the best he has looked in a while. I have seen nothing to suggest that Brown will instantly be in the mix, and I have read that Brown aint the best blocker.

Edited ---- I drafted addai as my #2 back

I like Addai as well this year barring injury --- but again you can say that about 1/2 the RBs out there.

I sometimes wonder why as Americans we get caught up in everything new and shiny with lot of *possible* potential while forgetting that there might be better, older alternatives out there.

Everything out there is not always better. ahem --- Brown --- ahem

You would think Addai represents a nice value play at his current ADP, but he just looks bad. I was at the Colts-Lions game a couple weeks ago and didn't like what I saw from Addai (hesitant, not hitting the hole, no explosion, colts offensive line has question marks). Brown looked more explosive.

He's just not very good guys... He's only had 7 runs in his CAREER over 20 yards. Not my type of back. Would rather have Ray Rice over him.

He's just not that talented. They didn't draft a RB in the first round because they're thrilled with Addai. They drafted one because Addai isn't very good.

I don't see how Addai can hold of Brown unless his blitz pick up is just terrible. They'll split... but I think Brown will get the bulk by default since Addai seems to get dinged (too upright of a runner?) with shoulder/head injuries and miss quarters and halfs here and there.

Really? Then why not let him go or trade him? He's received about 75% of the carries with the first team throughout the preseason. His stats from 2007 and 2006 show that he has had 2 very good seasons in the NFL. That's 2 more than Brown has ever had. I'll take Addai here.

Personally, I see Addai as a legitimate starting RB in the NFL, which probably means I believe in him more than most of the posters around here. However, I don't think coach Caldwell is a fan. Caldwell has shown that he's going to run things his way, as he's fired the defensive coordinator in favor of a different version of Dungy's Tampa 2 that places more emphasis on blitzing and stopping running plays. I think his initial first round draft pick will get every chance to play, and I'll say the same for just about every first year coach.

Man, I disagree here.I think any coach plays the player who will give him the best chance of keeping his job by winning.Kind of like if you draft a RB in round 1 that just flat out stinks and you keep playing him because, hey, you drafted him in round 1 so you feel like you have to play him.Who that player will be has yet to be determined but to say that he'll play him just because he drafted him in round 1 just isn't accurate at this point.

I play in just 2 leagues(both PPR) and I have Addai as my RB2 in one league and Brown as my RB3 in another. Not sure which situation I like better.

Some chick in one of my leagues cut him yesterday in favor of Le'Ron McClain! :goodposting:

I'm hoping I can get him off waivers, but with 4 other teams in front of me, probably not likely...

i grabbed addai and brown in one league and just brown late in another.

we will see but im figuring 60/40 addai split early and then if the rook shows something or addai gets banged up it's Brown time

Addai wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire even when he wasn't competing with a 1st round draft pick. By midseason, his career as anything but a role player in the NFL could be done.

there is something about competing for your job against a hot shot rookie will either bring out your best, or make you crumble.

I'm betting on him doing well and retaining 3/4's of the backfield work this year

I got Brown real late after Addai went 4.14 I can't see him putting up 100 yards in any game this season. Maybe a handful of TDs and a useable #3 RB but I like Brown more in that role on my team for the crazy value I got him at. I think 9.1 I drafted him

Maybe I'm way off but he just looks slow to me and not big enough to knock two guys off.

This seems similar to last year when everyone wrote off Thomas Jones/deangelo williams.

I think he still represents good value. Rookies uusally have a hard time picking the blocking up (especially w/ manning under center and that weird hybrid pass first, play-action run game they play/two minute like offense they run.

Those 2 weren't always hurt.

always hurt? guy ranked 11th and 5th in socring his first two year i nthe league playing 15 n 16 games.lets not go overboard with the "always" hurt tag

Wasn't he injured in 2008?

2007: 261 [email protected] yards, 41 [email protected] yards totaling 1400 yards and 14 TDs

2006: 226 [email protected] yards, 40 [email protected] yards totaling 1400 yards and 8 TDs
No question - Addai performed very well in his rookie and sophomore years. But as time as gone on, I think it's become more evident that his early success was largely a function of the Colts' high-powered offense being very much in sync, with a strong and intact offensive line. And his propensity to often get dinged up (even if not missing outright games) hasn't helped matters.

Once the offense got a bit untracked, we saw a much different guy that was unable to create much on his own, and his production suffered. That's not to say that he's not an OK back, but like with other average-to-above-average RBs, he's not a guy that can be a difference maker when the other pieces of the puzzle are not there.

I think Addai's underrated here, but the "1st-year coach/draft-pick" point is a good one, I think. It doesn't have to involve playing someone who sucks, especially at the RB position. Many teams (Indy in prev. seasons, especially) have been able to plug in a variety of RBs and get similar results. In the NFL, there are a plethora of RBs that are similarly talented and as long as they can pass block, they'll give you roughly the same results in the same situations. So, as long as Addai isn't vastly more talented/capable than D.Brown, I could see the coach choosing to give Brown more of a chance to succeed.

There is definitely an aroma of softness regarding Addai. I think his risk/reward is properly valued in redraft, but in dyno he is a hold for his current owners unless you can trade him for fair value to the Donald Brown owner.
