RB Jerick McKinnon, KC (3 Viewers)

In ppr Juszczyk will be more valuable than Breida.
That’s a stretch.

Breida had over 100 carries last year behind Hyde, I see no reason to believe he’s not next in line. Alf hasn’t even been there long enough to have the playbook down has he?

Supposedly, this happened on the last play of practice. Gets better and better. Undergoing MRI now. Hopefully he dodges another bullet.

Eh I think if they decide to give someone the bulk of the carries they could be a top 25 back (RB2) at the very least.
Yep I think if they split the work they're both RB4's with RB3 upside.

If one back gets most of the carries he's a low end RB2 or high end RB3.... which is worth the add for sure right now.

Shanahan:  "We hope we're wrong" about an ACL.

Unfortunately, field diagnosis of ACLs is really accurate.  He's going to miss the year.

I hope we find out McKinnon's injury is not serious.  If is is, however, Breida and Morris get an obvious uptick.  I wonder who is out there who could be available.  Ameer Abdullah would be interesting.  What is the latest on Orleans Darkwa?  De'Angelo Henderson would be an exciting addition.  How about Akrum Wadley?  I know this is purely speculation, but I am just taking a mental inventory of some names at RB who could do well in that offense if given an opportunity.

You do realize that Morris’ best seasons were with Shanahan’s playbook, right?

If McKinnon is done for the year I want no part of this running game. I think Morris or Breida could provide running back 2 numbers, but I think figuring out which back it will be week to week won't be easy. I also don't expect any consistency. I think you could see Morris go a couple weeks in a row with 18 carries or 50 yards, then Breida get a week, then Morris comes back the 4th week with 120 and 2 tds.

I guess the more I think about it, I wouldn't mind either as my 2nd flex.

I can totally see that with Shanahan.

Great took him in the 3rd, found out 10 seconds after our draft about the injury........5 minutes earlier I could have covered him with Breida

Still went RB hard, so I'm okay with Hunt, Cook, Lynch, and Thomspon.

Ugh

Presumably this helps Jimmy G. No ?
I think so, I don't know the percentage of run vs. pass for Shannan coached offenses of the top of my head, but I think he has always been pass heavy.

So say he is 55 pass and 45 run. I could see a 3 to 5 percent increase in passes.

Morris is a better runningback than McKinnon...if you liked McKinnon, you should really like Morris.
That is true, but to be fair Morris was a lot younger, and his best year was with RG3 fully healthy and scaring defenses with his legs and deep ball.

I think Jimmy G is a better passer than RG3, but his rushing ability won't scare defenses.

Morris averaged 4.8 yards per carry last year with Dallas and doesn't have much wear on his tires the past few years.

I wouldn't want any part in this Niners offense until we see how things play out. Garoppolo has apparently not had a great camp and he just lost a great receiving option and solid pass blocking RB.

Jimmy has looked razor sharp in preseason games.

Morris has been all over the place. Last year he averaged 4.8, but before that he went 4.7, 3.5, 3.7, 4.0, 4.6, 4.8. I expect this to be a 2 or 3 way committee.

Berry just projected a 55/45 split with Morris being 55.

I tend to agree with Berry here...I'm not even sure Breida can handle 45% over an entire season.

We know that Morris can.

Morris is one dimensional. This is great for Breida. He’s getting all the passing game work and at least a third of the carries.

nom nom nom on some Breida all week long and twice on Sundays.

He was already pushing McKinnon for a major split before they both got banged up.

sorry that looks like I’m happy about the injury- I’m happy I was proactive, and that waivers processed yesterday so no one can outbid me

@AdamSchefter

49ers’ RB Jerick McKinnon did tear his ACL while making a cut on the last play of practice Saturday with nobody around him, per source. McKinnon now done for the season. Matt Breida and Alfred Morris time.

I'm staying clear of the whole backfield. Lost a solid keeper and I don't see a replacement here. Blurgh.
