RB Keeper Sleepers for 2013? (1 Viewer)

Like many others, my league can keep two players each season. So the only guys to keep need to have potential to start by next season. Obviously that requires starting talent + starting oppty.

Right now on the WW are:

Chris Ivory NO

DuJuan Harris GB

Shane Vereen NE

Brandon Bolden NE

Shaun Draughn KC

Mike Goodson OAK

Roy Helu WASH

Each of these guys have potential I think. But not all with have the oppty.

Rumors that Ivory may be a FA make him attractive to me.

Frustration with DMAC may give Goodson the chance?

Could a JCharles trade give Draughn the chance?

Who else classifies as currently unheralded with the chance to make a big impact next year?

Thoughts?

I don't think that Goodson is a good bet--he has had as much injury trouble as DMC. It will be DMC again next year although it wouldn't surprise me to see Oakland draft a guy in the second or third round.I don't see Draughn being a good bet at all and seriously doubt Jamaal Charles will be traded. First, I think KC likes him and second you just don't see RBs traded very often. Ivory doesn't strike me as a featured back but I probably like him best of these guys.I am wondering about whether or not Felix Jones will go somewhere and possibly get a shot? He has done well at times and maybe a change in scenery would help.Of the guys on your list, I like Helu (is he a FA though?) and Harris best.

Chris Ivory and Shane Vereen stand out to me, based on talent alone. Felix Jones could benefit from a change of scenery, as could LeGarrette Blount. Goodson missed his opportunity to really shine during DMac's absence, but he remains a terrific handcuff. Ben Tate's stock has dropped some, and while he is unlikely to change addresses this season, he is certainly a guy to buy low on. Also, don't forget Mendenhall. He should land in a starting role somewhere next season.

I like Vereen. Woodhead's a FA, so he could inherit the pass-catching role in the NE RBBC. If he can just stay healthy and pass-protect better, he could be getting a lot of work in an offense that can easily support 2 fantasy-relevant RBs.

I don't think any stand out where you would want to use a keeper spot on them other than Ivory in a starting role outside of NO. Even then I imagine better options exist to all owners at other positions.

Great thoughts guys thanks.

Im a little late on the draw as lamar Miller AND LaMichael James were already scooped up.

I grabbed Vereen and had D Thomas and Dwyer already. Thinking DuJuan or Ivory but both are total rolls of the dice.

Mendenhall is an interesting thought...

Is there some rule that you can only keep awful guys? Is it a 100 team league? None of these guys, even with a starting role, are going to crack the top 50 ADP next year.

If you can only keep two players, I don't see any reason why any of these guys should be on your list. You don't have any better options on your team?

I'd just skip the keeper and get an extra pick in the draft. If you really want any of these guys, they'd probably be available late in your draft anyway.

I have a league where we are allowed a "sleeper keeper", and the only players eligible were drafted after the 10th round or waiver additions. Sounds like something similar here.

I like Helu too but I was wondering what your thoughts on him were? I think he is under contract through 2014 and even when he was healthy this year he did not play much. I like his talent but not sure how much work he will get.

do these count as sleepers? jonathan dwyer? daryl richardson?
Don't think Dwyer starts next year. I believe Pitt drafts a guy to come in. As far as Richardson, I think the staff believe he is a change of pace guy.
He's got a better chance of starting than ANY of the guys the OP listed, so I think he counts unless he's too obvious of a choice. But it looks like SJax will be back, so Richardson isn't worth keeping.Does anyone else feel like there have already been about half a dozen threads on this topic?

I think Reggie Bush is the starting running back for the Packers next season. And Greg Jennings is the WR1 for the Dolphins. Green Bay and Miami become the new Green Bay/Seattle player highway.
