RB Kelvin Taylor . . . Son of Fred Taylor (1 Viewer)

For those that were not aware, Fred Taylor has a kid who also is a running back. And he apparently has some skills. He was a starter this year for his town's high school team. That in itself is no big deal. And he was selected All State this year . . . which is a bigger deal. When you consider that his state is Florida, well, that's a bigger deal, as we all know Flordia is nuts over football. But that's just the tip of the ice berg. The big news is that he didn't even attend the high school . . . as he was in EIGHTH GRADE. Yep, he was selected as an All State RB IN FLORIDA as an 8th GRADER!

Yeah...but he failed the 7th grade 3 times. So he's really like a 10th grader.

 Please tell me this isn't true...

That's really something. Wish all the best for Fred's son. Sure looks like a chip off the ol' block. Imagine Fred's career without the injuries. Son's got big shoes to fill, but looks like he's off to a good start. I've rostered Fred on several Leagues over several years (unfortunately including 2001, when he only played 2 Games), and I'm really looking forward to doing the same with his son. That'll really be an FF milestone. Certainly one to watch out for when he hits the NCAA's. Great story.

In one of my dynasty leagues we can draft any players regardless of age. No one has ever picked up a middleschooler but i'm thinking about doing it.

Is he worth a pickup as a developmental player? We have 8 spots we can use for non-NFL players.

What does this do for his HS eligibility? Is he allowed to play 5 years of high school sports? This could actually screw him up for college recruiting if he is ineligible to play as a senior.

you can play as many years of varsity as you can, assuming you do not repeat a grade. There are 6th grade track stars that play varsity track, football is no different. I could be wrong, but this is not like college. Plenty of junior high athletes play varsity sports

Really? Is that just in FL, or is that common in other states? I know that in PA, you get 4 years of HS eligibility, period. If you do play on a HS team as a 7th or 8th grader, that counts as one of your years of HS eligibility.

I've read that Fred Taylor had absolutely terrible flexibility when he came into the league. Hopefully he has his son working on that aspect because it almost assuredly impacted Fred's career.
