Michigan State transfer running back Kenneth Walker has been one of the best running backs in the nation, and continued his tear on Saturday against Miami when he rushed for 172 yards on 27 carries in 38-17 win over Miami.

Running back Walker (5'10/210) entered today’s game against Miami averaging 10.7 yards per carry. While he didn’t improve on that average, Walker still came away from this one with 172 yards on the ground. Walker’s only touchdown on the day came on a six-yard pass from quarterback Payton Thorne late in the second quarter to put the Michigan State up 10-7. Perhaps the most impressive part about Walker's game wasn't just his raw yardage totals, but how he acquired them. Walker was making defenders miss all day, as Miami struggled to bring him down upon first contact nearly every time.

ESPN's Mel Kiper says that Michigan State junior RB Kenneth Walker is "moving up" draft rankings.

Walker is averaging 8.6 yards per carry with a nation-leading 493 rushing yards. "He looked phenomenal against Northwestern and Miami," Kiper wrote. "At 5-foot-10, 210 pounds, he gets tough yardage inside -- he's slippery. He breaks tackles." Walker wasn't found on many preseason top-10 running back lists -- expect to see him when analysts update their rankings.

Michigan State transfer running back Kenneth Walker rushed 19 time for 61 yards and no touchdowns in Saturday's 23-20 win over Nebraska.

Walker (5'10/210) has been gaining a lot of NFL Draft and Heisman hype after his strong performance through the first three weeks of the season. But he looked like just another guy in Saturday's win over Nebraska, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and did not record a catch on the day. Walker had a chance to end the game in over time after he took the ball down to Nebraska's two-yard line on 23-yard run, but he was stuffed on back-to-back plays. Walker should have a chance to resume his Heisman run in Week 5 when Michigan State (4-0) hosts Western Kentucky (1-2).

Michigan State junior RB Kenneth Walker carried the ball 24 times for 126 yards with three scores in a 48-31 rout on Saturday of Western Kentucky. 

All three of Walker's touchdowns came in the first half. He scooted in from five yards out in the first quarter, added another five-yarder in the middle of the second and closed out the first-half scoring with a three-yard blast. The former Wake Forest tailback has been outstanding to begin his time with the Spartans, and already has eight rushing scores and 680 yards on the ground. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound tailback should be able to keep up the good work against Rutgers next week.

Michigan State Junior RB Kenneth Walker was added to the Maxwell Award watch list for awarded to the most outstanding player in college football.

It was only a matter of time that Walker (5'10/210) was added to the watch list. Walker not only leads the nation in rushing yards with 680, but he is averaging 6.8 yards per carry and nine total touchdowns. Walker feels like a really good dark horse pick for this and the Heisman Trophy, which he has +5000 odds to win via FanDuel Sportsbook. The Spartans travel to face Rutgers on Saturday.

Walker (5'10/210) continues to showcase his next level rushing abilities that have him shooting up NFL Draft boards since his arrival in East Lansing. His latest highlight-reel worthy play was a 94-yard touchdown run that is officially the longest play from scrimmage in the long, illustrious Michigan State history. On the play, he took a handoff up the middle that he bounced down the left sideline once he hit the second level before putting a Rutgers defender on skates with a beautiful juke that allowed Walker to run down the field unabated, to the point that he actually high-fived teammate Jalen Nailor at the 20-yard line because nobody was even close to him. The Hoosiers’ run defense came into this game in a serious funk, ranked SP+ No. 107 in run success rate and No. 102 in run efficiency. Indiana’s staff had a clearly-delineated plan today: Don’t let Walker beat us. Indiana’s linebackers were ludicrously aggressive, firing forward into gaps even on play-action fakes. QB Payton Thorne didn’t have a good day, but he did take advantage of the extra downfield space a few times. Indiana won the battle: Walker didn't see much daylight and was held under 125 rushing yards for only the third time this year. Michigan State won the war, improving to 7-0. Walker (5'10/210) was absolutely unstoppable in the contest, as he accounted for every single one of Michigan State's five touchdowns on the day. His touchdowns were from 27, 8, one, 58 and 23 yards out with the last one putting giving MSU their first and final lead of the game. His first touchdown run came when he was walled off on the interior and bounced the run outside for the 27-yard score. It's hard to understate just how awesome Walker has been thus far, with this being his fifth 100-yard game of the season to go with 15 touchdowns. He is squarely in the Heisman race and will get to show off his skills again next week at Purdue.

While he was in full workhorse-mode, carrying 23 times or more for the fifth-straight game, the MSU defense simply could not stop the Purdue passing attack. You know you've had a good season when 143 yards and two touchdowns seems a bit disappointing. Walker (5'10/210) also caught two passes for 29 yards, and he found paydirt with a pair of touchdown runs from inside the five yard line. This won't do much to help Walker's Heisman chances, but if he can put up big numbers next week against Ohio State, that would obviously change things considerably. Kenny Walker was good for sure but maybe that he came up small in MSUs 2 blowout losses at the end of the season hurt him.  Also think there is a little bias against the transfer players who jump ship for one season at a different school.

Luke Easterling has the Denver Broncos drafting Michigan State RB Kenneth Walker.

Many Broncos fans were excited to see the second-round pick Javonte Williams start to get a more prominent role as the season continued and he was impressive with 903 rushing yards and averaged 4.4 yards per carry. With Melvin Gordon hitting free agency, it looked like Williams would get the lead back duties, but one draft expert’s doesn’t think that’s the case. According to Draftwire’s Luke Easterling he has Denver picking MSU’s RB Kenneth Walker (5'10"/210) in the third round at No. 96. The transfer from Wake Forest was stellar in his lone season with the Spartans rushing for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns and came away with Doak Walker award for best running back. If it plays the way Easterling has it, we could looking at another two-headed monster in the Broncos backfield

I have some concerns. 1 year breakout, small body of work. The numbers are eye popping, but I’ve read some analysts who question how legit he is & whether it’ll translate to the NFL.

Landing spot is of course highly relevant.

Still - hard to watch his highlight reel and not come away impressed.

Kinda hoping he goes before 1.08 (superflex) so I don’t have to make that decision. Certainly possible he’s the real deal, I’m just saying what I’ve been reading.

Walker isn't a one-year wonder, he's a guy that showed he can be a bell-cow back and dominate. 

He doesn't need wide gaps to run through, he can take a small crease and explode through it. He has also shown the ability to make people miss in short areas which is vital.
