I think hes fat enough to fall the endzone at the goallineAssuming he comes back in week 3, how do folks feel about a rookie RB with no preseason play, coming off a big injury scare coming into the mix?

I own him and I won't start him until he plays at least 1 game, it would have to be a monster game, for me to start him the next week, so I would probably wait until he plays 2 or 3 games. I also am lucky to have him as flex player and I have a couple of receivers that I can plug in his spot instead. I would be interested in hearing if people will start him with confidence once it is announced he will play and get the bulk of the carries.Assuming he comes back in week 3, how do folks feel about a rookie RB with no preseason play, coming off a big injury scare coming into the mix?
Well, everyone knows Lacy was never fat, injury-prone, and should have known Franklin was no more a threat to Lacy than Cousins was to RG3.And Bell's knee wasn't 100% in that game either. This place can be funny (and I'm not excluding myself).
Bell is a top 3 rookie, gets dinged, doesn't look great on 4 preseason carries, sprains his foot...and the sky is falling.
Eddie Lacy is fat, injury prone, threatened by Franklin, then looks good in one game...and he's the top rookie RB.
All from a few pre-season carries.
Not when it comes to run blockingDon't forget the weak OL he has as well.Assuming he comes back in week 3, how do folks feel about a rookie RB with no preseason play, coming off a big injury scare coming into the mix?
I think some NFL teams might disagree about the injury prone part. Don't kill me just some stuff I read.Well, everyone knows Lacy was never fat, injury-prone, and should have known Franklin was no more a threat to Lacy than Cousins was to RG3.And Bell's knee wasn't 100% in that game either. This place can be funny (and I'm not excluding myself).

The Pittsburgh Steelers were in the market for a running back during the draft, but passed on top-rated rusher Eddie Lacy due to concerns over a toe injury, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Steelers opted instead for Michigan State's Le'Veon Bell with their second-round pick.

Lacy has dealt with both hamstring and toe injuries, but the Steelers were scared off because his toe was reportedly fused. Lacy eventually came off the board at the end of the second round, going to the Green Bay Packers with the 29th pick in the round.
Despite being known traditionally as a run-first team, Pittsburgh has struggled to run the ball of late. They haven't had a 1,000-yard rusher since Rashard Mendenhall in 2010, and he has struggled to return to form following a torn ACL in 2011. Jonathan Dwyer led the team with only 623 yards and two touchdowns in 2012.
Lacy finally became the feature back for the Crimson Tide in 2012 after two years as a complementary rusher, and he made the most of it, rushing for 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns on 204 carries. Bell, meanwhile, shouldered the heaviest workload of any running back in college football, rushing for 1,793 yards and 12 touchdowns on a staggering 382 carries.

Well, well, well.... Has fast things change for Bell. According to RotoWorld, "Coach Mike Tomlin suggested that Le'Veon Bell (foot) has been ruled out of Week 1 because of missed practice time, not his injury."
I read this as Tomlin saying if Bell had practiced more, he could play. To me that is coach-speak, nothing more. The reason he didn't place (hence why he isn't playing) is because his foot is injured.Well, well, well.... Has fast things change for Bell. It also says he's not going to be able to Ahmad Bradshaw it and just play Sundays while he nurses himself back -- which makes sense considering how green he is.I read this as Tomlin saying if Bell had practiced more, he could play. I agree with this. But that is pure speculation. Unlike where he sits on the depth chart and unlike what Tomlin stated. It wouldn't surprise me, either, if he re-aggravated the injury or got dinged again either....
I agree with coach speak. Some detail in the Post-Gazette this morning:I read this as Tomlin saying if Bell had practiced more, he could play. To me that is coach-speak, nothing more. • Isaac Redman will start, but the other two healthy halfbacks, LaRod Stephens-Howling and Felix Jones, also will get their chances.
"We haven't detailed the rotation or the nature of the rotation at this point. But, obviously, we're going to have some guys in uniform that we believe are capable of helping us that have a unique skill set."
Look for Stephens-Howling to be the primary back on third downs and Felix Jones to work in more with Redman.
"We're continuing to get to know Felix," Tomlin said. "We like his natural run instincts."
• Tomlin agreed with rookie halfback Le'Veon Bell that he might return by the second game as he overcomes a foot injury.
"He probably can be characterized as out this week, not necessarily from a health standpoint, but young guys like him have to practice in order to be able to participate. At the very best, he would be a partial participant this week."
Does that mean partial practice == partial playing time?from Lolley...
Le'Veon Bell must return to practice on a full-time basis before he plays due to his youth. Tomlin doesn't like to play rookies who don't get a full week of practice in because they need more preparation than veterans.
That quote from Tomlin made no sense, he missed practice because of an injury, and he missed the game cause he missed practice, yet somehow its not due to his injury? And we still don't know what the foot injury exactly is, right? However this new timetable suggests Lisfranc.
So Tomlin was simply lying when he said he didn't play due to missed practices and not due to an injury?
Yep. I'd have been a lot more interested in chasing Dwyer if that o-line looked halfway respectable. Loss of Pouncey is going to be huge though...I'm having flashbacks of MJD last year...
I have defnitely noticed that a LOT of info this year is just..............wrong.Clifford said:Given the reliability of info on this thus far, I'm not panicking.
Why not just let it heal over the normal time frame outlined by the doctors... and then the team make a determination?I wouldn't be surprised if he practices next week or goes on IR at this point.
He cant get put on designated to return IR because Matt Spaeth already isonly because my league has IR slots.... i'm just going to hold on to him...
Appreciate this post. I was wondering why they wouldn't just IR him.. which I assumed meant they expected him back. At this point, he's a rookie and the team likely recognizes their deficiencies this year, so why burn a half season, or even 4-6 games of experience for the guy while giving the team a chance to evaluate how good he really is at the NFL level. He cant get put on designated to return IR because Matt Spaeth already isonly because my league has IR slots.... i'm just going to hold on to him...
My take on the Bell situation is pretty simple. The guy they cut (Dwyer) is now taking snaps with #1s. That seems to suggest that Redman and Felix are, in some sense, either worse (Redman) or still not ready (Felix) to be the lead back - or not as ready as a guy they cut that no one else even sniffed at. Bell is clearly more talented than any of the 3 (it would be difficult to be much worse than a guy they cut).Appreciate this post. That said, now I don't know what to do with him, but I'll hold out if I can.
What a mess.Jones could see his first touches Monday night against the Bengals after working extensively with the Steelers' first unit Thursday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Ugh. My money is still on Dwyer emerging eventually even though they cut him in favor of the other two. From the Steelers fan's comments I've seen, a lot of them liked Dwyer over Redman when it came to purely running the ball and I agree with them. What a mess.Jones could see his first touches Monday night against the Bengals after working extensively with the Steelers' first unit Thursday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

(12:32 pm ET)" Steelers rookie running back Le'Veon Bell could miss at least another month with a Lisfranc fracture, a source has told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review."
LT was on Sirius XM fantasy today and suggested that if thats the injury around week 10 would be a more likely return week. How long did MJD struggle with his Lisfranc fracture? I had MJD on my bench almost the entire season until I released him the last week last year. I may be cutting Bell.
I guess the first report is why he got in my league. I actually tried to trade for him and that must have prompted the owner to see the report and cut him.Le'Veon Bell (foot) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice after getting in a limited session on Wednesday.
It's eye-brow raising, but Bell himself admitted on Wednesday that he's extremely unlikely to suit up for Sunday night's game against the Bears. The Steelers are also no strangers to playing injury report games with their running backs. Perhaps Bell will return in Week 4, but he remains off the Week 3 radar.
There are too many people trying to "break" stories anymore. Bell's injury has been reported as a lis franc, then not a lis franc, than a mid-foot sprain, then a lis franc again. Unless there's a name to the source, some kind of confirmation, or it comes directly from the player/coach, these "reports" should be taken with a grain of salt.So wait:CBSSports.com

So on 9/11 he's a month away and then Wednesday 9/18 he's practicing and today 9/19 he's full????
Tell you this much - the Steelers need him to play and be good.
Cant blame anyone for already cutting bait. Just hope you did it two weeks ago and not today though.i cut bait for the time being. hes going to be in and out of the lineup if he comes back this early. He was killing my IR spot.
Well, he was limited yesterday, and full today, so.... ?usually you cant get excited about a player until he returns to limited practice on a wednesday or thursday. MY guess is bell maybe is ready for week 3, but i wouldn't start him until we know his usage.
Count me as a victim who foolishly bought into reports of him being out until 2nd/3rd week of October with some sort of Lisc Franc sprain or strain. I cut him just prior to start of week 2 with plans to scoop him back up on week 3 blind bid auction, Damn if another team didn't win him for $21 to my $15 on late Tuesday night. Who would have thunk it. lol.So wait:CBSSports.com
