Well balls. Should be 100% for next year.
MoreAlrighty then. Cruel sport.
Not really. Talking with the surgeon for the Seahawks, he showed us the recovery of an ACL over the course of a year. The ACL doesn't fully grow into the bone until month 12-14. So many of these pro athletes come back after about 8 months, but seeing that ct scan personally, it's amazing there aren't more repeat tears. I guess high or deer antler spray really helps that much... Bell will probably be a step slower to start the year. If he can start the year. I wouldn't be surprised if he missed 2-3 games to startWell balls. Should be 100% for next year.
Only if you can get the hamstrings to relax. They can cause false negative Lachmans and Anterior Drawer. Soon after injury the athlete has a hard time relaxing. It takes about 5 seconds to diagnose an ACL tear using the Lachman test.
No. In fact, this test os very unreliable. Research has shown its accuracy to RANGE from 50-90% at diagnosing an ACL tear. I've been dead wrong thinking an ACL is there, confirmed by others, and yet the Mri comes back positive for a tear. The hamstrings can guard simulating a hard end feel of an ACL present, not to mention the edema itself can limit the test. A lot of athletic trainers feel like they can diagnose so easily with these tests but in reality, 1) they cannot diagnose legally, and 2) field tests are extremely limited in sensitivity/specificity. Athletic trainers should stick to taping anklesIt takes about 5 seconds to diagnose an ACL tear using the Lachman test.
What is a badly torn MCL. It's either torn or it's not, right?@RapSheet: Source: #Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has a badly torn MCL, along with other damage. He's expected to be out for the season.

I have this talk with patients a lot. What is a badly torn MCL. It's either torn or it's not, right?@RapSheet: Source: #Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has a badly torn MCL, along with other damage. He's expected to be out for the season.
Mcl tear is much better than an ACL tear, but the mechanism looked ACL with MCL. I guess we will see, but if it's just MCL I would expect him to do fairly well to start the year. An ACL will obviously complicate things and take longerSo he tore his MCL. No tear to ACL.
I guess all people really care right now is the outlook for 2016. Assuming it was a "bad tear" and that he works hard, should he come back good as new?
Yeah, I thought they called those other "tears" pulls or stains, ect.I have this talk with patients a lot. What is a badly torn MCL. It's either torn or it's not, right?@RapSheet: Source: #Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has a badly torn MCL, along with other damage. He's expected to be out for the season.
Take a Kleenex, since I can't demonstrate, tear the edge. That's a tear. Poke your finger through it. That's a tear. Now scratch it, that's a tear too.
Now use that analogy for muscles/ligaments/tendons in the body.
Technically, a pulled hamstring is a grade 1 tear. So no, there is a wide variety of tears
I don't see how that ACL can still be there, after seeing the injury. He dodged a major bullet if it is intact.Mcl tear is much better than an ACL tear, but the mechanism looked ACL with MCL. Fair enough - but specifically in dealing with an MCL tear, what would someone who says "badly torn" be saying?I have this talk with patients a lot. What is a badly torn MCL. Ok, yes, a rupture vs a strain vs a tear. A tear can be 50%, 75%. A torn ligament such as the MCL can take bone with it (which is actually good, because you can screw it all back down, but takes more healing time), it integrates into the meniscus so he could have meniscus involvement. Who knows, there's a lot of extra stuff that could make it a really bad tearYeah, I thought they called those other "tears" pulls or stains, ect.I have this talk with patients a lot. What is a badly torn MCL. I completely agree. If the ACL isn't gone I'd be shocked. Saw it live and immediately canceled my trade offer for bellI don't see how that ACL can still be there, after seeing the injury. Whaaaat? Micro fracture surgery. That would be brutal.Re: other damage
@ProFootballDoc: @RosterWatch Could be cartilage, additional ligament or bone bruise/subchondral fracture. Hopefully micro fracture surgery not needed.
Micro fracture isn't a terrible surgery but it's not typical at all for an MCL. He'd have to have torn some significant cartilage. Honestly, they would probably try to avoid this unless it was that bad but the risk is if he doesn't heal well he could end up getting this eventually and miss even more time.Whaaaat? I held him but given he's only 22% owned at Yahoo, I'm guessing most people dropped him.Glad I held Williams.
Anybody drop him?
Bell owner in my 12 team league dropped him in week 5, not sure why, he has no RB depth (Bell, Lacy.... Woodhead in zero PPR). I picked him up this past week as a lottery ticket. Picked up Charcandrick West two weeks before Jamaal Charles went down too (I own Charles). I'm not sure if I am psychic or a jinx.Glad I held Williams.

You shut your whore mouthBring back Josh Harris or Ben Tate.
Yeah it's what I figured. That was plain bad. Knee collapsed in big time.@JasonLaCanfora: Steelers expect to put Le'Veon Bell on season ending IR Mon w/ knee injury, pending MRI confirmation. Isaiah Pead in line for roster spot
No idea where the optimism came from after a hit like that

and Forte has a knee injury and Foster is done. Lacy has had an ouchy ankle and has played like crap for the most part.Yeah it's what I figured. That was plain bad. Another one bites the dust. Arguably the #1 and #2 (Charles) RB's gone for the year. What a terrible season for injuries.

I think I might go WR-WR-WR next year

love the reports earlier that said 4-5 weeks.
Quality reporting.
On the other hand, year after year, the "experts" and most of us on the threads say not to waste roster space with handcuffs. There are two legitimate schools of thought on this issue.Went TE-WR-WR...(Gronk, ODB, Hopkins). Not in 1st thanks to some horrible bye weeks and injuries to my RB's, but I should be a powerhouse headed down the stretch. I picked up Dez after week 1, when the owner dropped him, and I'll be able to pull Williams after Bell's injury. I'm so afraid of RB's due to injuries that I haven't picked an RB before the 4th round the last two years.
The wake-up call here is that if you have a stud RB, and he's got a clear back-up, there's no reason not to roster the back-up. Bell owner in our league basically just got a huge kick in the nuts.
Maybe he gets 2/3rds of that production? Still, that would be a boon... wish I had him as a handcuff.Bell owner here. Any chance Deangelo Williams puts up numbers comparable to L Bell 2015 ROS PPR? Williams seemed to be playing like a Man on Fire, and Bell was putting up good--not great--numbers.
It was always speculation until the doctors took a look.love the reports earlier that said 4-5 weeks.

I think the issue in this particular case of handcuffs is a little different though. I generally don't hang on to handcuffs either - but as a Bell owner, I did keep DWill. On the other hand, year after year, the "experts" and most of us on the threads say not to waste roster space with handcuffs. Check DeAngelos stats from 1st 2 games, I think he puts up VERY similar #'s to BellMaybe he gets 2/3rds of that production? Nah, anyone of any height/weight is susceptible to the type of hit Bell took. Leg got caught under him as the players weight landed on it and they both slid. The perfect storm for an injury. Nothing you can do to prevent it.This is why I cringe with tall or thin RBs. Bell, Foster, Charles, Forte.
Give me a compact 5-9, 215-225 guy all day long. You don't have to worry about hits like this when you are built like a bowling ball.
My thought is he had those nice games during the first two games of the year before defenses really gel. I think it's a mistake to think he's going to do what Bell normally does. Sure, some weeks could definitely have RB1 upside but I think it's fair to expect RB2 numbers overall.Check DeAngelos stats from 1st 2 games, I think he puts up VERY similar #'s to BellMaybe he gets 2/3rds of that production?
