RB - NYG - Brandon Jacobs (1 Viewer)

One of my favorite all time NFL players. Maybe was never a fantasy juggernaut ... but he's a solid, real life NFL player.

ETA: Searching Youtube ... maybe he IS the Juggernaut ... I wouldn't argue with him. Language warning:

That'd be Laron Landry that he trucks at the start of that video.

Physics.
If only he ever learned that at 6' 4" 264lbs he can't bounce runs outside or juke people out. Maybe he would have actually been considered a good RB.

I'm a NYG season ticket holder for 20 years. I will say the team and Coughlin loves and trusts Jacobs for his attitude and fire. I just don't think the guy that we see in the video is the same guy we will see this weekend and beyond. He will be a short yardage and possibly goal line back, with some pass protection responsibilities. I just don't see him as being the thunder and lightening guy he was with Tiki. I see him mentoring David Wilson, who is the immediate future as RB for this team, love it or hate it. It wouldn't surprise me however TC giving Jacobs the opportunity to play. With TC its all about trust.

ron dayne was thunder not jacobs. I agree with all the sentiment above though

jacobs sucks and og is delusional.... I think we all agree on this.... :deadhorse: Can the mod please close this thread. Thank you. :tebow:

Brandon Jacobs ....

worst RB playing currently in the NFL??

or

worst RB in NFL history??
Easy now, you may be called a punk if you keep this up.
haha oh well.. Jacobs is a turd
Double turd. Guy never was a good goal line back.
Yeah, I don't get this idea of thinking Jacobs will be a good goal line back. He hasn't been a good or even semi-efficient goal line back since what... 2008? That's a LONG ways away now.

ha your right, I get all those big slow non productive RB all mixed up. Both were drafted claiming they were going to be "the bus" and they more like a sofa.

Jacobs did have more productive seasons than Dayne, but neither are getting the job done.

More fantasy points tonight than Wilson had all season.

WIth next 2 games against MN and Oakland (less likely to be blowouts), should be startable if healthy. Probably not saying much but I feel more comfortable with the Giants using an inferior RB like Jacobs than situations like Lamar Miller/Ridley amongst others.

Jacobs was a very good RB. He was one of the most effective utility RBs ever.

To compare him to barry or adp doesn't make much sense. He rarely was the lone RB but more often was part of a committee.

He was slow compared to RBs, but he wasn't slow by NFL standards.

Gave the feeling of being unstoppable at the GL.

Most importantly he was to wear down a defense and I don't know that any RB ever did that better. The Giants were often a top ten rushing team during his tenure. It was very difficult to chase Tiki or Ahmad after trying to tackle a 265? pound beast. Defenders would complain of bruises from practice and tackling him.

Some of the critics in this thread lack perspective.

He even averaged 6 ypc (or nearly) one year.

Bam Morris was fun to watch. Alstott was a beast too maybe Mark Bavaro trapped in a RBs body. He and speedy Warrick Dunn were a difficult combo for a brief time, not too dissimilar to Jacobs.

If throughout Jacobs' career he was always a cog, it's not reasonable to compare him to stud RBs that carried their teams. No one in FF ever projected 1400 yards and a dozen TDs for him, we all knew what to expect going in as did defenses and he got it done.

Don't understand why this guy was a Free Agent. Or are the Bears really just that bad at Defense this year? They gave up a ton of yards to Reggie Bush, too. They're giving up 97 Yards a game.

He looked unstoppable at the Goalline.

i will say this, he had a good game. During the first half, the giants abused the right side, taking chunks whenever they wanted. I will have to see the play by play, but it seemed like the bears made some adjustments and in the second half the holes werent there. They have a long time until their next game, but it looked like he got hobbled at the end as well.

For those that might have missed it (and end blowing too much of you FA bucks) - the Bears DT position is a disaster right now. They have have already lost 2 starting DTs for the season and the 3rd was out. They had no choice but to throw DEs inside and use the drastically undersized Shea McFallin even in run situations.

While Jacobs had a good game and ran hard - against even an average D-line, I think his YPC would have been much lower.

They begged him to beat them and he did. He'll likely be on the injury report because of it. He played a good game. I'd love to see what Wilson could have done against this defense.

:lmao:

You have to understand, the Bears were down to I believe their 4th Defensive Tackle on that line? That aside... the holes that Jacobs was getting during the game were far and away the best holes this Offensive Line has generated all season. Not even particularly close. This was the 2nd week in a row that this offensive line finally got to play as a cohesive unit and it showed. Diehl and Pugh on the right side were destroying the Bears at the LoS. The pushes they were getting were out of this world. Every time they tried to run Jacobs up the middle or to the left he'd just bounce to the right and have a hole the size of a castle drawbridge to run through. On of few of those holes, if Scott had been in he'd have been long gone. Same with Wilson. Makes me a little optimistic if the line keeps playing like this and Wilson (by some miracle) isn't done for the season. Could be a good play later in the season when he comes back. By that token, same goes for Brown if Wilson is indeed done for the year.

Gutsy performance tonight but he's still a RB who:

- is 31

- is not a reliable pass catcher

- is slow

- has a tendency to let his mouth get out of proportion with his abilities

dont care, if he flops his big butt in the endzone every once in awhile

He has a couple decent match ups ahead before his bye. Depending on how involved titans get cj in the passing game jacobs may get the start for me next week.

Probly less yardage (he cant break the same tackles) and 1-2 fumblesSounds appropriate

He looked good last night, but let's be honest, that was almost certainly the best game he'll have all year, probably for the rest of his career. I'd actually say it's probably at least even money that NO individual Giants' RB goes over 100 yards rushing again this season.

Agreed. He knew this was his opportunity to shine. Seeing him get a few carries in SF last year, I honestly thought he was done. I still feel that way FWIW. The Bears were asking him to beat them and he made a valiant effort. I'll be shocked if he can do anything close to this again this year.

Kudos to Jacobs for last night's performance. Living around NYC, I was never a fan of his, but he showed a lot of guts last night.

I agree with others that last night will likely be as good as it gets for him this year. So if you started him, kudos.

Sounds like he's hurting, as is Scott to add to the Wilson woes. If he's out there, I'd really be looking closely at Brown for the stretch run.

Cox time in the interim? I love me some Cox.

With the cupboard bare, Cox may have to rise to the occasion.
