RB: Who has more value right now? (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

K.Barlow: Was traded for by the NYJets. Fumbled in his 1st game, that's not good. has little around him to push him for the starting spot. He is getting paid a lot of money this year too from what I have heard and understood, not likely to ride the bench. Upside? Not sure as he is a teaser.

Walli Lundy: Seems to be the starter at this point, played like the starter in the game against the Broncos...the RB spot seems to be a center of the offense in Houston rush/rec both. Dom Davis has not stepped on the field during the preseason...could he come back soon? Seems like damaged goods this season. Also has Morency pushing him for time. I have to say I was impressed with the way Lundy moved around the field on Sunday, I thought he "looked" like a RB should look but maybe it's those nice crisp white uniforms the Texans play in.

Thoughts?

The reason I am picking on these 2 is that they are 10th-13th round material depending on the league...they can still be had at a relative nice price in a trade...some of us are having RB3 problems. Both could be RB2 if the situations pan out.

As terrible as Barlow was in 2004, he got over 1,000 total yards and 7 TDs on a brutally bad 49ers offense.

The Jets' offense won't be great, but it's going to be better than what SF had that year. Barlow should at a minimum exceed those numbers if he starts the year getting a majority of the time at RB, and if he doesn't start off that way, it won't be long before he does.

How anyone can really be confident that Lundy will produce like that this year is beyond me given his competition at RB.

Excellent points Steel.

MoP, I think Lundy's value comes from having both he and Morency. But, the upside is pretty high. I realize it was with the previous coaching staff, but Wells and Morency produced very nicely in Davis' absence for the five games they started last year. Here are the results:

There were five games where Davis did not play, Wells was the primary ball carrier for four of the games and Morency was for one.

Here are those games:

Week 9 at Jax:

Wells produced:

13-56-1

5-45-0

Week 10 at Indy (where the Texans were down early):

Wells produced:

15-58-1

3-17-0

Week 15 vs Ariz:

Wells produced:

28-87-2

1-11-0

Week 16 vs Jax:

Wells produced:

21-86-0

3-33-0

Week 17 at SF:

Morency produced:

21-83-1

4-46-0

So, in those combined five games, these RBs (who one is no longer wanted in the NFL) produced a total of:

98 carries

370 rush yds

5 TDs

16 receptions

152 yds

On a per game basis:

19.6 carries

74 rush yards

1 rush TD

3.2 resections

30.4 receiving yards

I think Barlow is safer than Lundy, but offers less upside. I would choose Lundy, as long as I could secure Morency, too.

Drafted Wali Lundy in our Last round (16) last night. Barlow went 130 overall Round 13...

Lundy is much more of a reach to me. I took him on a flyer hoping he owuld start but I do not see that as firm yet.

They want Barlow to start... The guy can run. I rememeber Shananhan calling him the best RB drafted that year.

What competiton at RB .Cmon Morency is no more then a change of pace ( like Tatum Bell ) and DD is finished .So if he has decent season he should be entrenched as the starter for years to come .

So who do you think will have more value in 2006? I agree Lundy might be a slightly better choice in dynasty leagues.

Personally I think the Jets will throw Blaylock out more than people think.

Keep in mind the Jets traded out of the 1st for Jolley and we was on the sidelines when someone else better was in the game.

So, Lundy over Barlow right now.
