The LA Times did a quick blurb yesterday announcing his call-up. He's been on a strict pitch count in AA, which is likely the reason for his 0-3 record there (didn't pitch far enough into games to get wins as a starter).
The Dodgers are playing 17 games in 17 days, so Kershaw figures to get three starts. They're going to limit the number of pitches for him, so I'd expect he gets pulled in the 4th or 5th inning unless he's really mowing batters down and not throwing a lot of pitches. This will be an audition for him that will set the stage for the rest of the season.
There were a number of post-game quotes from Cardinals players that expressed some appreciation for his filthy stuff. This guy's going to be fun to watch.
They were talking about 150 inn this year. They should be able to maintain that since he only has 24 innings in 5 starts. He went 4 only due to the rain delay in Det. At this rate it would take him 30 starts at 5 ip to get to 150 so I dont think thats going to become an issue.
Right now it looks like Penny may go on the DL (MRI didnt clear up anything) and Schmidt isnt close to coming back
He should be good to start for the rest of the year minus a game or two here and there.
