Just a few things about this show...

1) Edwards always strikes me like a smart person, like him more then Hillary, but that doesn't say much.

2) Is Chris Matthews drunk and why can't he move his arms?

3) "This is not a debate , just between us up here. You are an audience, audience comes from latin to listen."

Kasparov was $ too.

Not that I disagreed with much of what the panel said but three like-minded guests doesn't make for entertaining debate.

This has been a problem with his show for a while now. Its not too entertaining, everyone sitting around strokin' each other.

Hasn't that become increasingly what the 3 person panel is made up of - all lefties, mostly far left who all hate Bush ?

It's probably hard to find anyone with a brain that still supports Bush.
That's not it. You can find people willing to argue a conservative point, but his show is personally hostile to contrary opinions. People don't want to be insulted in order to just have a debate.

Even harder to find someone who supports the Democratic elected Congress.Point is, Maher hates Bush, and that seems to be a basic requirement of his panel - at least it seems that way.

I do agree with that he has either all liberals or one conservative in which the rest of the liberals on the panel scream at him in unison..example tucker carlson a few weeks ago, i think he can come off as a bit of a tool but he's a pretty informed guy that sees things from both angles, most of the arguments he said promoting a conservative angle, Joy Behar "debated" back with come on? really? that isn't so.

Paul krugman just looked like he was ready to cry

Rula Jebreal. Smokin.Interesting segment on Israel/Palestine and torture. She was really pissing Bill off.Wanted to vomit when she was talking how the average U.S. citizen doesn't know what's going on compared to the rest of the world. First off the average U.S. citizen doesn't know much. True. But the average citizen from her part of the world? Come on.I'm sitting here watching a very popular show on HBO discussing both sides of important issues and commenting on it on a message board. Is that happening in Palestine?

I liked her a lot. But yeah, that was a lame comment.

Terrific episode this week. Coulter, R. Reiner, DeGrasse and R. Lowe.
Coulter is ridiculous. It's a shame more conservatives won't do this show.
That lady (not Coulter) trying to defend the Cuban embargo was laughable.
I like Debbie Wasserman Schultz. But the Cuban embargo looks ridiculous and it's simply anti-Communist detritus from a bygone era. If China with all it's human rights violations can be our most favored trading nation, then we can lift the Cuban embargo.

Episode this past week was best in a while.  Bill and the religious go had some good back and forth.

Kerry Washington was

A damn good show still, which is saying something considering how long it's been on. The fact he gets quacks like orange hitler's campaign manager makes it even better.

Terrific episode tonight. Excellent conversation with Barack Obama. Good panel discussion with David Frum, Jennifer Granholm and Martin Short. Some outstanding New Rules. A++. Would watch again.

He was genuinely distraught this last episode. I thought he was going to cry at a few points. Anyone else buying the coup angle? It does seem a few FBI folks went political, but I don't know that I go from there to coup. Do you?

Maher usually shuts people down for using histrionics, but I think that's what he was doing here.

I got what Frum was trying to say about not completely and continuously tearing down our institutions, and I agree with him to an extent. But the institution that was the Republican party has definitely failed and is deserving of all the criticism it's getting. The Democratic party isn't far behind either. At some point, people do need to start heeding some of the criticisms and making adjustments when those criticisms are valid, otherwise all the institutions (our electoral process for instance) start getting painted with the same brush, and we get to where we are now.
