Really strange internet problem..... HELP! (1 Viewer)

Mr.Pack

Footballguy
Wife has a work website she goes to every day to get her cases, paperwork, etc from.

All of a sudden last night the webpage won't load. The main web page loads and every sub page loads, the only one that doesn't is the one she needs. She called and they said the problem has to be on our end which I agree with.

Daughter tried on her Mac, same problem. I tried on the hard wired computer, same thing.

I CAN get to it from my work.

I reset the router, no go.

This one is beyond my scope........ Anyone with any ideas?

Help please!

ETA: WNDR 3400v3 Netgear Router about 1 yr old, just upgraded the firmware tonight hoping it would work, it did not.

Also have a Motorola Surfboard Modem, and Time Warner Internet

Your IP could have been blacklisted. Sometimes this can be triggered if you visit the site a lot, the server misconstrues your visits as malicious... but that would be on their side.

Your ISP could also be blocking it for some reason.

Is your wife a cam girl? ISP may be blocking that kind of thing.

In all seriousness, any updates to the router lately? Do you know much about your router? Is it a laptop that she can take to a coffee shop or something to see if the page loads?

Doubt it will help but try connected directly to the modem.

If you still can't get to the site but the site is reachable from elsewhere call the ISP.

Probably this. Not sure if either of you have access to a VPN but try connecting and seeing if you can access it then. You may also try one of those webproxy sites and see if it loads.

One other thing you could try is see if your ISP can change your IP.

Do you have any Web filters?
I have no clue

Doubt it will matter but have you tried different browsers?
I've tried IE, Chrome and Firefox. My daughter couldn't connect on her Mac either.

I'm going to try this tomorrow. I couldn't get it on my phone either, turned off Wi-Fi, and boom, got through no problem.

I will try this too.

Try to power cycle the modem and router.
I did this tonight too. Unplugged both, let them sit for 15mins, plugged them back in and still nothing.

ETA: unless power cycle doesn't mean what I think it does.

Try it on a different network. Like your neighbors.
Haha, I was going to, but they are all secured.

I can get in from work, and when I turn off my wifi on my phone, so it has to be a router problem.... I think, but I don't know how to fix it.

It's either

a) they blocked your ip like others have said

b) you a websense or other ip blocker on your network

Try changing your dns. Your router may be assigning everyone to the same dns server and the server is no longer pointing to the proper ip for that pages domain.

Not sure if this got resolved but I have to say it does sound like a router issue of some sort. But just because they say it is on your end doesn't mean it is. And it seems unlikely the router would suddenly kick that page after letting you go there for a year. Now if you can get to it from anywhere but behind your router that seems to be the culprit I just don't understand why it would suddenly reject one page if nothing has changed.

Call your internet provider...
Did that, They had me run a few traces and said they could access the site and that the problem was with her business. Called them and they told me they have trouble with Time Warner all the time and it's on their end. I'm at my wits end.

I bypassed the router and had the computer directly hooked up to the modem, still nothing.

start, run, command

ipconfig /flushdns

Give that a try. Maybe just some weird hangup with your DNS lookup.
I will try this next.

change dns on router to google public

and set static ip to dmz mode
Not sure how to do this, but i'll look into it.

This didn't work. Unless I need to reboot the modem and router after I do this?

That would only be valid if it was one specific computer. Since it is all the devices in the house it has no effect.

While on the phone you tell them you are on the site using another connection. If they can't resolve it you are leaving their service.

I ran an NS lookup put it into debug mode and ran that in the command prompt. Can anyone decipher it if I post it?

Found this info on the web, and kind of understand what I did, but not the results really.

Call your ISP and ask them to grant you a different external IP
Yea they were no help at all. I asked them reset my IP address and they said they couldn't do it and that it wasn't a Time Warner problem because they could access the site from a couple of different TW computers at their home office

Try resetting your router. Should be a small button somewhere on it. You'll have to setup your network again, but that would eliminate any weird blocking issues that would be coming from your router.

How do I do this? I have a Netgear router, 1 year old.
Router provides a ip to all connecting devicesGo on the wired computer, network adapter configure ipv4. Set an ip in the range of the dhcp I'm assuming it's 192.168.1.2-199

Go with 150 or so if that's correct

Set the subnet to match the router probably 255.255.255.0

Google dns is 8.8.8.8. 8.8.4.4

If you updated your routers firmware I'm assuming you know how to configure it.. Goto firewall advanced settings look for dmz mode. St the ip you set on the wired desktop of in there. Reboot router reboot computer try again

Nt saying this will work but it's something I would try

You can find the dhcp range by looking at your ip using iconfig in command prompt & also see your subnet

If it were me I'd go into the modem and look around. Who knows what you'll find. Probably either IP 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.100.1

See if there's a user guide in the internet for the specific SB modem.
