Reasonable return for McCoy & Brees in dynasty? (1 Viewer)

If you owned McCoy and Brees in a PPR dynasty and wanted to rebuild, would this be a fair return (or am I under or overestimating their value)

Give: McCoy and Brees

Get: T. Coleman, D. Henry, Bortles

I'd still want a bit more than that trade. Henry is a nice piece to acquire but I think you could probably squeeze a little more out of them.

I'm on the other side here. I think it unlikely you could get all this for Bree's and McCoy. I see Henry/Bortles>McCoy/Brees though itssomewhat close. Honestly as a Henry owner I'm not sure I'd take both for him.

Yeah, I know people are still really high on Henry. He hasn't done anything to hurt his stock but Bortles' stock is in a bit of a tailspin. At least that's what i've been seeing as far as trades. Brees and Mccoy should give you another couple years of top end production. Henry might give you top end production in a year or two but like Tom Petty said the waiting is the hardest part. I think it was also Tom Petty who said, "ehhh, I don't know if I even want Coleman. He's shown flashes when he's had the opportunity but that situation isn't the best". But i could be misquoting him. I would just prefer the Brees & McCoy side. If I were rebuilding i'd probably lean more to the Henry side.

The tough part for me is both these young backs, who definitely have pedigree and upside, have 2 elite producing RBs in front of them. I just fear that Freeman and Murray both aren't going to go away no matter how much us Henry/Coleman owners wish they would.

I happen to be a Brees/McCoy owner in a PPR and finished with a 5-8 record, so rebuilding is one option (while building around them for the next 2-3 years is another).

That said, I am not that keen this deal.

To begin with, I wouldn't touch Bortles - thought he looked awful this year and while I would consider acquiring him as a cheap backup, I wouldn't want to invest in him as my QB of the future.

I also own Coleman in the same league and was really nervous using him even as a flex starter as his production seemed feast-or-famine. I not certain he will ever be the featured back even if Freeman leaves and could be mired for years in a RBBC.

Murray turns 29 this year and finished with a torn plantar plate that may require surgery (or may be OK with rest). In any event, I could see Henry displacing him in a year or two, but that in itself would not be enough to make this trade attractive to me.

For myself, I will consider offers for a Brees/McCoy package, but am in no hurry to move them, as if you have two solid players on your starting roster like this, it only takes a few more pieces to make a team competitive enough to make the playoffs and once you do that anything can happen (won a championship this year with a mediocre #6 seed 7-6 team that got lucky in weeks 14-16).

I don't think this is anywhere close to enough to move those two guys but I tend to look at 2 yr windows because things change too much for anything beyond that.  For the next 1-2 years I would much rather have McCoy and Brees than that package.

I am also not a fan of Bortles so I think he is fairly useless at this point.  Most (if not all) of his value was tied to garbage time.  He has not shown any value in tight games and I would never trust him as a piece I would rely on.  I don't mind getting him on the cheap as a back up to see if a coaching change helps but definitely not as a key piece to a deal like this.

I ended up doing a smaller trade, thoughts on this one?

Gave: Brees

Got: T. Coleman and 3.10 pick
I am not really a fan of this one at all.  Brees will still be top 5 QB for the next few years and Coleman still will be sharing time (on the low side of touches) with Freeman.  I don't like that deal.

yes but Brees is at the edge of a clift, and I don't think he'll bring much in my leagues. In fact, I shopped him all last year and got little to no interest for him. And i know this roster won't be competing anytime soon. Guess I sold too cheap but I do believe now is the time to move guys like Brady and Brees.

I disagree with your last statement but I tend to look at 2 year slices and I think Brees (and Brady) still have top 5 value for the next 2 years.  Neither showed any signs of slowing down this year.  I agree that if I could get younger and fair value to move them now it makes sense but I am not going to give him away and I think that's what you did here.
