ALLEN PARK -- Lions owner William Clay Ford, president Matt Millen and coach Rod Marinelli are all taking heat from fans for the team's 0-2 start. Nevertheless, Millen said Thursday, they're aligned in their belief "what we're doing is the right thing to do."

Millen, who talked with reporters as the Lions practiced for Sunday's game in San Francisco, said he's communicates with Ford "all the time."

"He has high expectations," Millen said. "When you have high expectations, you also get frustrated, and there are answers you want, too."

Asked if Ford gets similar answers to those he gives the media, Millen said: "There's a little more detail. He asks all the right questions."

Millen said he believes in Marinelli because "he's consistent. You see that, it's not changing. He's a straight line, and he'll do what he believes is the right thing to do. What he's doing is the right way.

"The players we picked, we did so for a reason. The same reasons exist. The staff is in place for the exact reason.

"What we're doing is the right thing to do."

"Just so everyone is clear on Matt Millen’s record, here it is: 31 Wins 83 Losses in 7 full seasons and two weeks this year. That puts him at 52 games below .500 for his career.

Just to put 52 games in context, the team would have to go undefeated the rest of this year and winthe Super Bowl, go 19-0 next year and won the Super Bowl, and go16-0 in the regular season the following year just so that Matt Millen would have a .500 winning percentage for his career (I think we can all agree this is not going to happen)."

Yep, High Expectations.

Millen. Biggest joke in all of football. Wait, the guy that won't get rid of him is the biggest joke in all of football, William Ford Sr. I would actually have hope for this team if somebody like Cower was hired as Pres/GM.

He doesn't realize what a complete joke he is. I'm usually not one to bash people but he's ruined that franchise for nearly a decade. I just don't get it.

I loved this one. Make people guess what the reason is for picking players and signing the staff you did. Afterall, isn't that what a good GM does?

can't the NFL throw them out?

I think it was PFT (love or hate) who said that the NFL needs to emulate soccer.. where they have a minor league, and teams are invited to the Majors, replacing under performing teams?

I know that Ford is a Good NFL corporate citizen, and although many in detroit wont admit it, many supported the Millen placement when it first happened.. but the the guy should be gone by now.. that's the only thing I can fault the Ford family for...

and wth DTV, to hell with the leos until they put a 10-6 club on the field

If they had 7 straight 12-win seasons, that would put his record during the regular season at 115-109 (that assumes they go 12-2 for the rest of this year). In Millen's eyes, they have a system in place.Unfortunately, no one told him that losing isn't a system
