Recruiting for Competitive, Social, Long-Term Startup (1 Viewer)

Sup, fellas. I’m recruiting for a dynasty startup that i think most serious and social managers would want to part of. Every member of the league will have been vetted. I have personally played with and can vouch for all of the league members added so far (although they don’t all know each other), but I’m looking to fill a few of the spots with fresh faces.

A bit about the league:
  • uniform theme that directs a portion of collective buy-in to a cause everyone can get behind (endangered species);
  • discord server and website specifically for the league;
  • custom (and tested) scoring to facilitate positional parity and reflect good/bad plays in real football;
  • deep rosters (14 teams x 11 starters) to reward depth and incentivize trades;
  • conditional trades (eg protected picks); and
  • league funds dispersed in unique ways (eg in-season tournament, league treasury/reserves to be used with league consent).
One other note is that people are going to be encouraged to take on roles. An example is that we’re going to have an anonymous tip line (a google form) for people to submit league rumors, and one of our members is going to post scoops, Adam Schefter style. So if you feel you can bring anything to the table in that respect, let me know (eg graphic design).

The buy-in for the first year is going to be somewhere between $50 and $100 depending on what the league decides when full, with the buy-in increasing annually.

This isn’t going to be first come, first serve. It sounds corny, but I feel dynasty is a social game above all else, so I’m looking for people who are not only on the level from an activity and ball knowing standpoint, but also pleasant to get along with.

If interested, I have a Google form application to fill out, but the forum won't let me paste the complete link, so you're welcome to DM me here or on Sleeper at the same username for a link.

Endangered species? When humans mess with the natural order of things we lose the elms.
Agreed. Some areas are meant to be left wild.

Teams in the league have to choose an endangered species to name their team and logo after (a list of species is provided), and a portion of league funds go toward conservation of one species per year based on league results.

I'm interested. Can you talk details of format such as where it would hosted (e.g. MFL), PPR, TEP, IDP, SF, etc.?

I have been in some very well managed and competitive leagues that ironed out some super competitive and balanced play including the use of a concept called the Raid that functions much like a hybrid between Free Agency and the Draft to balance out rosters.

Sure! The league itself would be hosted on Sleeper, but all league business and social activity wouldn’t be since Sleeper is very limited in those respects. That’s where Discord and the website would come in.

As to scoring, I can’t flatly call it PPR or TEP, but I can say it’s SF with two TEs. It’s a scoring system that I came up with myself. But it’s not totally random. I used a site (happy to provide a link but message board here doesn’t allow it, it’s called Fantasy Score Gap) that lets you plug in a scoring system you’re familiar with and then tinker with a second scoring system and see what the difference would be in outcomes over the course of past seasons. My league was designed to feel like a 6-point passing TD, .5 PPR, .5 TEP league in the sense that the relative positional points per game are the same (QBs > RB= WR > TE). But I tinkered with some settings to further reward good/bad real football plays. So there are bigger interception and fumble penalties, bonuses for big plays, points per first down, WR/TE PPRs but not RB PPRs (since so many RB receptions are checkdowns), and a slight point per carry (to offset RBs not getting PPRs). Happy to send screenshots if anyone wants.

I would be curious to hear more about that “Raid” idea, sounds neat! Everyone in this league is pretty sharp, so it should be pretty naturally balanced.

I have two spots left at this point. Just looking for the right owners. Thanks for your interest.
