Redskins hinting Mccoy at 1.4? (1 Viewer)

http://blogs.nfl.com/2010/04/01/redskins-e...will-they-take/

With three weeks left until draft day, there’s no shortage of smokescreens and misdirection. The Redskins, who hold the fourth overall pick, are right in the middle of all the speculation.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reported Thursday that while Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen could garner some interest in D.C., the player to watch might be Texas QB Colt McCoy.

La Canfora said the Redskins spent a lot of time with McCoy at Texas’ pro day Wednesday and cautioned reading too much into the fact the team hasn’t scheduled a personal workout with the QB. After all, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan never conducted a personal workout with his last QB pick, Jay Cutler.

While rumors have been flying that the Redskins could try to trade for the Rams’ No. 1 overall pick, then select Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford, La Canfora doesn’t see that happening.

Clausen’s connection to the Redskins is notable, though. Former Redskins personnel honcho and Dan Snyder confidante Vinny Cerrato is very close to Clausen and still could have the owner’s ear, according to La Canfora.

No way they take him at 1.4 of course. He should still be there at 2.4. Grab Okung at 1.4 and McCoy at 2.4. Nice start to the draft.............

He has been invited to NYC. First round chance is good.
I read or heard somewhere that Gil Brandt was choosing players not only who might be taken at the top of the 1st, but also commercial appeals type guys (McCoy and Tebow) who might be taken in the 2nd or 3rd so players would still be around for Friday's coverage of the draft. I don't think the invitee list gives us any clue where a player might be chosen, as it has in the past.

I see a team in the 2nd round trading back up into the 1st to snag McCoy, a la Brady Quinn and Cleveland a few years ago. No way he goes 1.04. But possibly a team like Washington who needs one (if they aren't 100% sold on Campbell). I can't see the Redskins burning the 1.04 on McCoy when they will likely have a top OL or defensive guy at that pick. Or perhaps that trade down and use one of the multiple picks they get for McCoy in the mid-late 1st?

Who would be the most likely candidates to move to 4? That's a lot of points to give to get up to 4 and put the Redskins in a reasonable spot to draft Colt. I am not disputing the premise I am looking for thoughts on who and for whom they would move up?

Heard the same. Think it might have been Eisen on the DP show.

April is the month to ignore draft speculation if you want concrete facts but pay attention if you're a dreamer.

Seattle and 49ers have multiple pick in first round, so it's safe to assume that they could be the most likely to move up...IF they are in love with a certain player.

Seattle's sitting pretty at 6 and 14, no reason to move up unless like you say, they fall in love with a player - but I'm sure not seeing the player they'd need to leapfrog Kansas City for - Berry or Bryant I suppose but they should slip to 6 or later. They wouldn't have to give both 1sts I'm sure. San Fran's 13 and 17 makes sense if they really want a specific player, Clausen or more likely, one of the OTs make sense to me. But is anyone worth both firsts, which I assume they'd have to deal?
