Redskins release Shaun Alexander (1 Viewer)

rotoworld:

Redskins released RB Shaun Alexander.

Alexander sounded re-energized and grateful to be back in the league, but scouts agree the game has past him by. If old buddy Jim Zorn wouldn't hold on to him, he's probably not getting another job. Alexander finished with 11 carries for 24 rushing yards in four games. The 2005 MVP is seventh all-time in rushing scores, but is unlikely to get serious Hall of Fame consideration.

Houston is now in the market for another RB with Green headed to IR. I wouldn't be shocked to see him land there.

Thanks for the memories SA. I caught a lot of flack when i traded down from the #2 spot in my keeper league to draft you over Dayne and TJ and you did not disappoint...

He's done,

It was nice when I had him and Duece during the 2004 season though.

What I don't know is what kind of contract if any did he get after his MVP season in 2005 ?

Alexander ran for only 24 yards, a 2.2-yard average. He didn't play at all in the win over the Seahawks, even though he was returning to the stadium where he earned his fame as well as his fortune -- in the form of an eight-year, $62 million contract signed after his MVP year.
