Refrigerators (1 Viewer)

Bought a Samsung Chef Collection about 9 months ago maybe.

If you like to cook, smoke, cook at holidays, etc and/or if you like sparkling water....then it's a great choice.

  • Half the freezer can be turned into a refrigerator instead.
  • With that extra fridge space, I fit EVERYTHING in super-deep drawers. Rubbing ribs for smoking used to take-over my entire fridge. Now I stick them in a drawer and NOTHING in the fridge needs to get moved around. Mid-size turkey? No prob, stick it in a drawer
  • That extra fridge compartment runs at an independent temp. We have it at the 30 degree setting and meats go at least 50% longer in there.
  • It's big. We recently discovered a compartment that we never knew was there...and that's after 6 months of using it daily. This thing is big.
  • It looks great inside and out
  • We love sparkling water. Having no bottles/can around the house has been a huge plus
Downsides....it's big and heavy, and it has some negative reviews out there...but we've had zero problems. I think all fridges have some horror stories,

Have had a Samsung French Door, freezer on bottom, no water just icemaker in freezer, for about 2.5 years. Has been great. You do have to replace the water filter about every 6mos if you care about filtered ice.

Best price I found was at Sears. It was $1,600 on Amazon and Best Buy at the time and I got it at Sears for like $1,250. Was a great deal.

The ice cube dispenser is a must for me. Ever since I purchased a refrigerator 5 or 7 years ago that had one I'll never go back. Yes, I understand that is the likely thing to break and may require replacement part, but the benefit out weighs the bad.

The problem with the ice cube tray and dispensers is you have to dig in the tray to get the ice cubes out. Yes you can put a little scoop in there, but something about someone's hands in the ice cubs I don't care for.

Prime example, you have a party. Neighbor Dave walks out of the bathroom, and walks over to fix a drink. Hand goes into your freezer. Did he use the scoop or did he bare hand the cubes?

I have Frigidaire Gallery Series. Stainless steel doesn't fingerprint like most. Recommend.

Damn nice fridge. I looked at it. It gave me sticker shock and a need for 34 cubic feet. So I saved 4 grand and bought the two freezerlesses.

This sounds like a good deal after reading everything here.

Thanks

I hear you on the price tag. I caught it on an event-price at BB for like 4.3k. Now you can find it around that price more regularly....but that still can be tough to justify.

If you do get something like this, buy the knockoff water filters on Amazon. Half the price as the Samsung ones and work just as well.

I never buy anything but appliances at Sears, and I never buy appliances anywhere else but Sears. They have great prices and if you have issues you'll get far better service than any of the big box stores.

I came here to post the opposite...we bought this new 6 months ago and wish didn't. Poor freezer seal, loud as hell, slow dispenser, ice dispenser has stopped working twice already...as soon as they send me another extended warranty offer I'll be all over it. I put the over/under on a costly issue at 10 months...it'll surprise me if we don't have a warranty claim before the original 1 year is up. If we ever buy a new fridge again, we won't be going with a cheap model with all the features....and Frigidaire will not be considered.

I have bought appliances at Sears and they usually work out pretty well. I bought my new washer and dryer (lasted 8 years a piece, 3 boys, lots of sports, runs almost every day) at Lowe's and they've been nice as well.

Any experience with Sears Outlet? They have one in Concord, NC, not far from me and I was just looking at LG LFX25991ST (don't need it, just looking based on this thread) which is the largest counter depth fridge. The prices online were around $3300 and they had one half the price that had been reconditioned. Same warranty, but for the price that seems like a heck of a deal if it is nicely reconditioned. I don't mind refurbed at all, as long as it isn't crap.

I have an extra fridge outside in the garage, so I have thought about upgrading the one in the kitchen (not huge due to the counter depth) down the road and putting the kitchen one outside. I'd even think about running a water line to it with cups. I get tired of finding half drunk water bottles from my kids and their friends. If I know it is them, I put the bottles back in the fridge or bring them in and fill them back up, but with their friends, I have no idea. Also, it would be nice to have a big fridge outside, especially freezer wise. The drawers for the outside one keep breaking and the fridge isn't terribly big/laid out well.

Samsung french door bottom freezer ice/water in the door 8 years 0 problems

We use the crap out of the water and ice...I'll never go without it again
This is what we bought--biggest one they had. We still load it down with our lifestyles.

I was against an ice maker and water hookup but lost that vote. Find myself using both of them no problem.

Issue with the freezer components behind the sliding tray in the bottom freezer--you have to leave the space for the unit to fit and with kids on board no way that happened. So...after the first 6 months or so something caught in that unit and busted it up. It's just hanging there, needing fixing, but .... still running! So I'll get to it tomorrow. ummmmm...that was about two years ago and it's still running great so maybe it can just hang there awhile where it's out of the way!

Actually do like it a lot. Filters aren't all that bad and available at the local box stores. You do have to be careful not to overload the door trays because they will crack, both the retaining piece and the back wall if you jam jars into too small an opening.

i assume you're looking for a new fridge. if you don't care about having a good old one that runs well, let me know. i have one in my garage i'll be selling soon for like $40. was my bar fridge but i inherited a newer one so this one is just sitting around right now.
