Bush, Ellis out

NEW ORLEANS -- A person familiar with the decision says running back Reggie Bush and defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis are not traveling with the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Both players are expected to be back at practice next week, said the person, who requested anonymity because the team's injury report had not been officially updated.

Bush and Ellis have knee injuries.

Bush missed practice this week with swelling in his left knee and had been listed Friday as questionable. Ellis, who sprained his right knee in Miami in Week 7, returned to practice this week on a limited basis but also was listed as questionable Friday.

It's on RotoWorld too:

An AP Source familiar with the Saints says that Reggie Bush and Sedrick Ellis will not travel with the the team to Tampa.

The Saints want to avoid a setback with Bush's knee, which has been surgically repaired a number of times. Pierre Thomas will carry the bulk of the load with Mike Bell coming in as a change-of-pace back. Anthony Hargrove will continue to see significant playing time in Ellis' absence.

Not happy about this, but will have to switch out Bell for Bush....kind of desperate at RB, but had really be pleased with Bush the last few weeks.

Hmmm...could it be more serious than being reported?
It's certainly possible given Bush's history but at this time this simply looks like a smart move to make. The Saints shouldn't need Bush to beat Tampa Bay tomorrow but they will need him long term and if they hope to get to the Super Bowl.

Seeing this and knowing how bad the TB run D is, I'm really trying to get Bell into my starting lineup. Just not sure how I can do it...
