McNeil was said to have improved his stock based on his performance in that senior game. He and Vince Young were the top 2 qbs coming out of high school. He always has had the talent but no real supporting cast. Which round will he go and does anyone give him a shot at qb? His 4.3 speed looks like a wr change may be in the cards. Before last season started I viewed him as the better qb over VY, but my what growth VY had.

Bloom and the (Grid)Iron Giant started a HUGE thread on McNeal right after the Senior Bowl. It is buried in here somewhere. Most of the Texans weighed in with their impressions.

Patriots in the fourth round....

Backup QB, good potential convert to a WR due to his speed.

Strengths:

An amazing athlete with rare speed for any position let alone quarterback...Has a great arm and quick release...Can move outside the pocket and throw on the run...Has about a 2-to-1 TD / INT ratio the past couple of seasons...Very tough...Shows flashes of brilliance...The type of running threat that keeps defenders up at night...Has a lot of tools to work with and some major upside.

Everything I have read said that McNeal wants to play QB and is not too open to changing to WR. Also, are the Pats open to drafting McNeal after the experiments of Michael Bishop and Rohan Davey?

Patriots don't need a backup QB, Cassell is looking just fine for that job. If he was drafted by the Pats they'd force him to convert to WR, if really doesn't want to don't expect him to be drafted by them.

Agreed. The reason I had the Pats looking at him was for WR and QB as a fall back.Michael Bishop should have been converted to a RB, and Davey should have been traded as soon as he did so well over in Europe. Brady was also taken late in the draft, and look how well that turned out.
